Chicken stuffed w/cheese, roasted potatoes, spinach salad & fig jam

And we did. Love it, that is. Restro is a compact space, not far from the Palace of Culture, with two small dining areas. The back room seemed to have dimmer lighting, giving it a cozier ambience; we sat in the front, slightly too bright, but it was fine. The menu listed the dishes in Polish and English, and language wasn't a problem with the service, either, which was excellent. Only three wines were available by the glass, two whites and a red. I was given a taste of one of the whites, a dry Italian, and it was surprisingly good, since I'm not a fan of dry wine, so I ordered it. Two tiny herb-covered rolls were presented with an herbed butter. I could have downed 50 of them, so it was a good thing there were only two. My husband wanted to order the cream of tomato soup. I was hesitant - the cream and all that - but gave him my blessing. What appeared was a bowl of thick puréed tomatoes, almost the consistency of Prego spaghetti sauce, with a slight kick, a dollop of mozzarella, lots of fragrant herbs, and an overabundance of deliciousness, without a drop of cream in sight. We both decided on the chicken dish - a chicken breast stuffed with a ricotta-like cheese and cherry tomatoes, served with a couple of wedges of perfectly baked potato, brown and crisp on the outside, and a fresh spinach and cherry tomato salad with a citrus vinaigrette dressing. This had to be the juiciest chicken I've ever had, and the entire dish was a 5-star winner (photo to follow later, rather than sooner!). All in all, a wonderful dining experience, and we can wholeheartedly recommend it.

Amazing and interesting food. Great presentation and attentive service. Very affordable. There doesn't seem to be A/C so I sat outside.

Salmon with cucumber, pomegranates, and cauliflower purée with wasabi

A really great restaurant located in central Warsaw. It sits on a corner with great windows that open up on a nice September afternoon. I started with the focaccia which turned out to be HUGE! It came with olives, smoked salmon, olive spread, tomato spread, and flavored olive oil. Easily enough to share with many people and I felt bad leaving much of it uneaten. For the main I had a great salmon dish with thinly sliced zucchini and a cauliflower purée. The pomegranate seeds added a nice flavor and texture. The wasabi sprinkled along the bottom was a pleasant surprise. I walked out from a great meal (with two glasses of house red wine) for $25!

Chanterelle Mushroom on Eggplant with burrata

What a find! Really innovative menu, well-executed and very reasonably priced! Had a chanterelle mushroom vegetarian dish which was terrific- generous portion, well-seasoned and beautiful. Husband had equally impressive chicken entree. We are visiting from NY metropolitan area- wish we could return!

Delicious food and very good service from the staff. If I lived in Warsawa this would be my regular place to eat for sure!

One of the most amazing things about Poland is the quality of the food you can get for prices that are lower than a convenience store hotdog. That fact makes Poland an amazing place for food lovers on a budget! Anyways, I came to Restro with my mom. We are visiting Warsaw for two days at the tail end of a two week Eastern and Central European Vacation. The ambiance at this restaurant is great! It has adorable red and white checkered table cloths and candles on the tables and a simultaneously upscale but casual feel. I ordered a spinach salad with caramelized strawberries and apples, pumpkin seeds, and goat cheese fried in coconut oil and a freshly squeezed lemonade. My mom got a "salad" with beets, roasted pumpkin, apples, pineapple, and goose liver topped with a boletus mushroom foam. The goat cheese was delicious and the coconut oil fry had caramelized the top of the goat cheese wheel so it was crispy and bubbly, which was really awesome. The beets in the goose liver salad were cooked to perfection and the mushroom foam was so flavorful, rich but peppery and with a nice spicy bite at the end. I wish they had given us a little less goose liver though! The portion was pretty overwhelming! Anyways, if I was in Warsaw again I would definitely return to Restro. My mom and I both felt that we had sampled merely the tip of the iceberg of an absolutely stellar menu.

What a gem. I came here somewhat on a whim on a five-hour layover in Warsaw, and wow am I glad I…read moredid. First thing you notice is the ambiance; I was seated outside in their courtyard, which is a secluded oasis tucked away from the street. Service was friendly but relaxed. I started with a glass of wine and the herring nigiri appetizer. Prior to coming here, I was pretty unfamiliar with the cuisine of Poland and surrounds, so the herring was a fully new type of flavor for me. The presentation was beautiful, the type of dish inventive, and the flavors themselves delicious and well- balanced. My second dish, the cauliflower, was very creatively prepared and was also delicious, if unfortunately slightly on the saltier side. I ended with the scallop ceviche risotto. WOW. This is the BEST risotto I have ever had. It's hard to describe; the interplay between the flavors was unmatched - and all the ingredients were as fresh as can be. I still dream of this risotto to this day.

I discovered alewino on Michelin Guide. I love to explore local bistros and wine bar when I'm…read moretraveling to a new city. I highly recommend making reservations in advance. For a weeknight, they were packed! Also, the entrance is tucked away from the main street. Look for and follow the sign to lead you to the entrance. The first thing you see as you entered the restaurant is bottles and bottles of wine on the shelves. I really can't tell you the overall space because I felt like I went from one room to another, pass the kitchen, through another room and was seated in a small room with about 6 or 7 tables. It's almost like a maze. I can tell most of the patron are locals. Friends meeting after work for drinks and a quick bite to eat. I know I'm in the right place :-) The menu is small and seasonal with the intention to order/taste every dish because the portion is small too. We started off with Bulion, which is a broth soup with duck dumplings. It was delicious and savory. The ginger in the broth soup warmed my stomach. It was exactly what I needed for our first night in Warsaw. According to other yelpers, we have to order the beef tartare. I'm not big on raw beef but it tasted better than I expected. The beef tartare is served on top of potato pancake. The potato sort of mellow out the raw meat taste. Great presentation! Chicken Liver Parfait served on a buttermilk bread was probably my favorite dish. I know liver is not for the faint of heart, but when it's done right, it's chef kiss! Chicken liver is incredibly good for us and a nutrient-dense superfood packed with protein and vitamins. I wish I can see more dishes like this served in the states. Foie Gras sales and production is strictly restricted in most states. We just have to try it whenever we are in Europe. YOLO! It's rich and buttery and served on a even more buttery brioche. Very filling. Skrei was a fish dish that we should of skipped. It was served on a big pile of foam and herbs with very little fish (see pic.). It's something I expect at a high end 13 course tasting menu, not at a wine bar. We each had a glass of Badenhorst Family White Wine. It wasn't the best I had but it works for the occasion. Tips: Service is slow and that's just how the European roll. Be patience and enjoy the view and take in the moment that you're in Poland! They charge for water and 10% service charge.

The restaurant is very cozy and tucked on Emily Plater street. We did not have reservation, and visited during lunch hours, but seating outside was not problem. However we were advised that reservation is usually needed. Staff was very nice and accommodated us immediately. The menu is short with some polish classics deconstructed in some way. We had : Tartare--it is a Polish staple and I must admit I can put it on my top list. Very delicate, brilliantly combined with all the toppings. You can feel the quality of the meat on the first bite. Marinated Herring--with soured milk was another delicious dish that made our experience a pleasure one. Served on baked potatoes were a great starter without argument. Sour Cucumber Soup--another dish famous for Polish cuisine. Nice deconstruction with horseradish and smoked trout was very interesting. Deer Pate--served with young beets, currants, home mayo and bread, served with homemade bread. All the good things ready to spread on the fresh bread. They also have good selection of wine and craft local beers. I wish we could try more menu items and I believe they would be as good as everything that we had tried. I am happy that I could try your food Mr. Andrzej Polan. Od samego poczatku chcielismy odwiedzic to miejsce podczas pobytu w Warszawie. Jestesmy fanami 'Dziendobry TVN" gdzie szef Andrzej Polan czesto gosci. Zupa ogorkowa--kolejne danie znane w polskiej kuchni. Fajna dekonstrukcja podania z chrzanem i wedzonym pstragiem byla bardzo interesujaca. Pasztet z Jelenia--serwowany z mlodymi buraczkami, porzeczkami, majonezem i swojskim chlebem. Wszystkie pyszne rzeczy gotowe do posmarowania na swiezy chleb. Polana Smakow ma rowniez dobra selekcje win i piw rzemieslniczych. Zaluje ze nie moglismy sprobowac wiecej pozycji z menu gdyz jestem przekonanyz, ze wszystko bylo by rownie smaczne. Jestesmy bardzo zadowoleni ,ze moglismy sprobowac tego jedzenia panie Andrzeju.
