You know a restaurant has to be good when there's a small crowd gathering at the door before it opens at 8am, and when there's a line waiting for tables by 9am! This is exactly the situation at Shipudei Berek, a modern Israeli restaurant run by a passionate chef who wanted to bring a piece of Tel Aviv to Warsaw! I just can't emphasize how great this restaurant is--from the trendy modern decor, the friendly service, the videos of life & food in Israel playing in the background, and yes, the delicious food, Shipudei Berek is just bomb! The thing I loved the most was the mezze spread--10 different dishes of freshly prepared appetizers that come with every skewer entree: cabbage, tzatziki, red sumac onions, spicy carrots, shredded carrots, beets, grated tomato, tahini, hummus with chili, and pickled cucumbers & chilies! Every mezze dish was so fresh and seasoned so perfectly--if I had to pick a favorite, it would be the dreamy, creamy hummus, which just goes perfectly with the pita bread that comes on the side! On top of the mezze, we also got an order of the octopus shipud, which were four pieces of octopus marinated and grilled on skewers! This was delicious as well, though I'd probably suggest getting another protein, since the octopus came out a bit burnt using this preparation. I also got a freshly squeezed pomegranate juice, which had some of the whole arils floating on top! Delicious! Come, come, come to Shipudei Berek, and if I haven't given you enough reasons, here's one more: the prices are an absolute steal for the quality of food and the overall experience! My favorite restaurant in Warsaw. Israeli food in a cool young hip setting. Amazing service. Super fast and fresh. Soup was superb (can't remember what kind it was). All the little salads were excellent. Lamb and shrimp cooked to perfection. Lots of beautiful young people everywhere not being morose. Excellent lemonade. Loved loved loved this place. Following my second visit to Berek I feel I need to add that last remaining star - because Berek deserves five stars, no questions asked. We came here on Friday after making a reservation online. It was very, very simple - just log onto their website and it'll take less than three minutes. Just state your name, what hour you'd like the table and how many people you'll have in your party. You can also add comments (for instance "I dont want a table by the windows" or "I'd like to sit downstairs please") and the restaurant will confirm your reservation through a personalized email within a couple of hours. Perfect! After my first visit to Berek I was slightly unhappy with their hummus because they used way too much tahini than I like - so this time we decided to focus on other dishes. Our picks of the night were: the lamb pizza, the lamb skewer, mezze, pita, rice with lentils and caramelized onions. We also ordered the skimmed milk with rose water-thingy for the dessert but I didn't even try it :) The pizza was quite good with mint tahini sauce and parsley on top (what happened to the chili though? It was nowhere to be found), the mezze were excellent and the lamb skewer.. Oh my god. Pure perfection! All in all, we had a great time and I would be lying to myself if I didn't grant Berek that final star. Can't wait to go again! read more

I have mixed feelings about this place. Somehow it reminds me of this kind of places in Israel - those mezze, grilled lamb, pitot... Everything tasty and fresh. On the other hand you feel like you are in polish "Gospoda". And I was a little disappointed that they have gas grill instead of coal. Israeli food is becoming very popular in Warsaw and competition is strong. And you must know that Berek is an Israeli cuisine restaurant - not Jewish. Another middle-eastern restaurant on ul. Jasna and quite similar menu with other restaurants, so what is the difference? The answer is service concept and the ambient of the restaurant. The staff of the Berek deals with you from first time you enter to the restaurant till you leave(also in english). I was there with Magda and some other girls that we meet with once a month. The place is huge!! Has a lot of space, although there is quite warm specially now when the temperature is high in the main area. We have orders quite a few things. Me and my friend had chicken livers with mezze (10) and cauliflower with tahini sauce, there was also baked eggplant, hummus and chicken. When it all arrived I was impressed, the food looked beautiful. I can surely recommend mezze as they were delicious and very different from each other. Also the baked cauliflower was delicious but it is a huge portion and may be to big for one person. The chicken livers - I must ad that I love liver so I try it different places - did not impress me. It was as a chef forgot to add any spices and even forgot about salt! On the plate we could see blood what in case of liver for me is quite repulsive. read more

Once a month my girlfriends and I go to a restaurant for a feast. This time we picked Berek. It was Monday afternoon so place wasn't packed and it's huge. I was surprised when I discovered whole other floor. Interior is simple and clean. I can't complain:) Huge star goes to the staff. The service is really nice, a little slow but once again it was Monday and we weren't in rush so I couldn't care less. All of the waiters were helpful and smiling. Checked on us a few time. When it comes to the food. Unfortunately its just ok. Some things are good but nothing that I tried is driving me back there. Hummus was really good- smooth and tasty. We, as a group, also tried - 10 mezes, eggplant with tahini sauce and herbs, whole baked cauliflower, ISRAELI SALAD with fresh vegetable, fresh chicken shipud and liver shipud(which I didn't try). To be honest Hummus and cauliflower were the best things to eat there. Unfortunately meat was tasteless (there is only salt and pepper on the table) and all of those meze were just ok. They have good selection of beverages. And we got shot of liquire on our way out. I enjoyed being there more than eating there. It's still good place to give it a try:) read more

What a delightful find for a bubbly atmosphere and reasonably priced food. It's just a happy place and anyone visiting Warsaw should make a point to visit. I had the lamb kebab which included the mezze, a variety of small side dishes and fresh, hot pita. My sister had shashuka which could have used some crushed red pepper flakes but otherwise delicious They have a full bar as well as wine and beer. The servers looked like they enjoyed working there and a nice variety of customers filled the restaurant which added to the ambience. read more

My visit here was short but worth it as I wanted to check this new place. New in Warsaw since late 2015, oh, boy!, the street sign brings light and life to that street! Love it because is different from anything else in this communist architecture. Comparing to Beirut (for example), the first might have special and unique options but the portions are quite small and there is no space to sit and be comfortable. In Berek its the opposite: different menu options but the service and atmosphere is much better. Long story short, lovely atmosphere for a date, family or friends. You are warm, comfortable and the smell of the foods surrounds you. Honestly we just drop by for a quick chat so we only had Humus+bread and SAŁATKA FATTOUSH. As an Israeli I don't tend to eat at Israeli restaurants when traveling abroad, since I prefer to try the local dishes. This time I made an exception since this place was really nearby and I was craving for a good Hummus, and I don't regret trying it. The food was amazing (we ordered chicken shippuds, Hummus, Mezze, mejadra, fried potatoes) would say was even better than most places in Israel, arrived quite fast, the atmosphere was great and the super nice waitress added to the whole positive experience. The restaurant has great service, and there is a play area for kids. They also provided English menus, which was helpful. I enjoyed the grilled fish skewer, but the mezze was just edible, no different than what you would get at a grocery store. The pita bread was doughy and rough, and I have had better. FALAFEL is NOT GLUTEN FREE it contains bread crumbs= flour. Which is unacceptable. Real falafel has zero flour gluten or bread crumbs of any kind. read more

This was an amazing place. We ordered kebabs, which came with homemade pita bread (you can see them baking it) and meze--which had 10 different dishes. Various vegetables, pickles, beets, hummus, tomato spread--it was all delicious. There were many things on the menu that looked equally appealing and they had a broad selection of vegan/vegetarian options. The atmosphere is fun and vibrant and the service was excellent. There is just one world which can describe the visit: dissapointment. We were with 12 people group over there to have some tapas and drink before we start clubbing. We order some drinks for start and we got it served after 40 min, but that was not a big deal. The food we got was overcooked or cold and we got it served not all together. We understand it's hard to split a bill for each people but we just asked to make two for the whole table and we got answer from the waiter we need to tip him 10 percent to do it so, but it won't appear on our check. Every single time we ordered beverages we had also to wait at least half an hour. After that we didnt see server for the whole night and then when i asked for the bill one of the staff (girl in a dark curly hair) tried to be funny and said that if i cant afford for the check i could work for them to make it paid. She wasnt even our server so that joke made me feel offended After that we decided to report it to the management. Of course they apologized us but there were too many things what dissgussed us and forced to share the opinion of the experiences we had in this place.
