A friend brought us here for drinks. The place is located in a quite secluded area, near the US embassy. What I'm trying to say, I guess, is that it would have been difficult to find if I didn't know the place was there. Makes sense? It has that "private country club in Connecticut" feel.
We didn't have a reservation and that seemed to have been strike one. We were certainly measured from top to toe, making sure we're up to snuff to even enter this posh establishment.
Inside the outdoor garden, indeed, beautiful. Private and semiprivate areas divided by pristine hedges and mop heads of gorgeous hydrangeas. The greenery is really spectacular and you forget that you are in Warsaw, and not in the Hamptons.
It's a place to relax, eat, drink, and watch sports while laying back on their logo-printed lounge chairs.
Our waitress was just plain nasty with a rotten attitude. My friend, who is a native Warsavian, kept apologizing for this woman's behavior, saying she will never patronize this establishment ever again.
Strike two: we didn't order food. The waitress sternly said: "no." when I asked for several different drinks - I just HAD to order a cocktail off the menu. Nothing else. She made us all feel very uncomfortable.
The drinks were good, but nothing revolutionary. My friend had a dessert and although beautifully presented, wasn't anything special, according to her.
Strike three: we didn't reorder anything.
It was my friend's treat, so I don't know how much the bill came up to. read more
