We placed our order around 7:30pm with 3 of our items still missing by 9pm. It was mentioned to the server so one item came out right away. I've been a regular at this spot for my Chinese Braised Skewers fix, and every visit has been a fantastic experience. I always get my order to go, and the quality is consistently delicious. Every time takeaway orders only. My absolute favorite and a must-try for any first-timer are the 牛肉大串 (large beef skewers) and the 羊肉大串 (large lamb skewers). The meat on both is incredibly tender and flavorful. On different visits, I've also tried the chicken wings and pork belly skewers, and they were equally well-executed. What's great is that their spices are incredibly aromatic. As someone who loves a good spicy kick but can't handle too much heat, I was pleasantly surprised. Even when I forgot to ask for less spicy spice, the flavor was so rich and satisfying that it wasn't overly hot at all. This place is definitely geared towards those who love bold, spicy flavors, and personally i think it's best known for its skewers. If you're sensitive to spice, you can easily ask the staff to reduce the spice level for you. The pricing is very reasonable. Here's a unique tip from me: I often combine my order with sushi from the nearby J-san Sushi. I love getting both and enjoying them at one of J-san's outdoor tables. The walls are lined with neon lights - please be aware if you have sensitive eyes. The low chairs here also offer no backing and was not comfortable for an extended mount of time. There is a lot of seating and we didn't have to wait for a spot when we got there. We ordered only skewers and they use the same seasoning as most Chinese skewers place - cumin and spice. Food was quite good with reasonable portions for price. Not for the faint of heart but there are a lot of interesting animal cuts/organ meats on the menu. Most of the dishes by default were spicy but had the option to make it non-spicy (for the skewers at least). They also give you the spicy cumin seasoning on the side so you can adjust to your preference. Great for late night snack and reminiscent of the street food culture in China! Chengdu style cuisine has some spice and this spot was generous on the flavours. Many of the servers speak Mandarin here, and all know English as well. My friend and I ordered grilled lamb, chicken, whole squid, QQ tofu, and Yuntun soup/spicy dumplings. My favourites were the QQ tofu and chicken skewers. Yuntun soup also comes with small bite sized wontons which were deliciously made (top tier flavour and texture!). 4 stars because the lamb was chewy and the squid was also hard to peel apart so we requested scissors to cut it in smaller pieces, which the staff did. There was more on the menu that we wanted to try so I actually recommend going with a bigger group to get a taste of their full menu! Service was great, they had staff available to check in regularly to top up water. Overall music was a good volume and the neon lights created a great atmosphere. Came here with four other people with a reservation. They weren't too busy so service was fairly quick. You order through the phone and the food starts to pile on fast after placing an order. Tried a bunch of skewers as well as their mapo tofu, lotus root, kung pao chicken, and some dessert. I found the non-skewer dishes to be slightly salty but their mapo tofu had a nice Szechuan spice to it (the numbing kind). This place is certainly a delight for the senses. If you're looking to drink and eat at night, it's the perfect spot. The vibrant neon light signs kind of remind me of a Hong Kong or Tokyo. The drinks, you walk up and serve yourself at the refrigerated cases. One side is non-alcoholic drinks like juices and teas and the other has beer and liquor. They had a little chart next to the alcohol section that taught you how to make simple 1+1 mixed drinks which was neat for the uninitiated. I don't know how they knew what we grabbed from the fridge but it did show up on our bill. Ordering is done via a QR code that you can scan at your table. If you haven't had Chinese style skewers before, all the meat skewers are coated in the same seasoning. If you love that taste, you'll pretty much like anything lol. They usually have a spicy and non-spicy option as well. They bring out the skewers by hand and place them on the heated plates to keep your food warm. They did a good job of letting us know what they brought out and keeping the spicy stuff separate. One surprisingly good thing I like are the bun skewers. Anyways, I guess If you have a Mandarin speaking friend, bring one along, because it will be easier to communicate with the staff. The scallops were great, nice and big with the garlic and the vermicelli. The oysters, I find it very big, a little too big to my liking because the flavour doesn't soak through. The QQ tofu was tasty, I liked it better than the dried tofu. The marbled beef tiny size kebab was delicious as well! I have to say I'm kinda disappointed. I went on a Tuesday night where it wasn't busy (3 staff on the floor + kitchen staff) but food took SO LONG TO COME. The first thing to arrive was our rice but nothing to eat it with. Another 15-20 min passed and we finally got our first skewer dish. Our rice actually got cold. We would then eat one plate and be sitting around waiting for the next. It got to the point we cancelled some we added from the beginning and some we added on later. I would suggest to make one whole order in one go if this is their normal speed. The food and flavours were fine but the service and speed really killed the experience.
