Terrible communication--an uneasy feeling of broken trust. It felt like anything that didn't fit…read morewith his "assembly-line" approach wasn't welcome--he said the head of my femur was broken off, and I needed surgery urgently but then sent me home for almost 2 weeks before admitting me; meantime, I was disabled/in constant pain. I only saw him personally for initial consult, at which he interrupted me and left room while I was asking questions--and then saw him for about 30 seconds while in preop just prior to surgery and again in postop for about 30 seconds immediately after. There was no other contact with him after surgery, although I was hospitalized. He did not appear for first postop office visit either, which they scheduled with his surgical assistant. At that visit, 6 WEEKS AFTER SURGERY, I was told he had found bacteria DURING surgery and they urgently wanted me to see Infectious Disease doctor now. No explanation as to why I wasn't told this at time of surgery, why referral to specialist wasn't made while I was in hospital, or why no mention of it whatsoever was in op report. (Or for that matter, why he did not see me himself to explain.) Furthermore, the antibiotic prescription given to me (finally) at 6 weeks after surgery had completely wrong RX instructions on the label--directions said "Take 4 by capsules by mouth 1 hour before procedure." I had to call office and ask how they actually intended for me to take the antibiotic--at 6 weeks postop. I gave him 2 stars instead of 1 star because I believe, despite all of the above, he did a good technical job on total hip replacement surgery, as I am in less pain and function appears good after PT/OT assistance.

A while back, I had gone to see a podiatrist/food surgeon for the first time, and with one glance…read moreat my foot where something seemed off, he said he was confused and hadn't seen anything like it. He suggested an in-depth surgery but first wanted to take a biopsy of one of my toes. That was quite painful and still causes me issues every now and then. While the results came back inconclusive, the surgery was still recommended. I decided to get a second opinion, and I came across Dr. Richer, and my goodness, I am so grateful that I reached out and connected with him. He knew immediately what the issue was and no surgery was necessary. After visiting him twice, my foot was as good as new (at least for that time). I was impressed by how direct and yet understanding he was for a doctor, and how he gave advice and direction in a way I could certainly understand and run with. I just recently visited him again for a new issue, but again, I feel supported by Dr. Richer and his team. He is the doctor at the Foot, Ankle & Leg Center in Scottsdale, and I found I could easily make an appointment on their website (https://www.footanklelegcenter.com). They treat heel pain, sports injuries, foot and ankle pain, nail and skin, and diabetic foot care. He also can provide advanced therapy for a variety of different kinds of treatment. He is a skilled, educated, and experienced podiatrist and foot surgeon who first got interested in the subject based on his own experiences. He has been all over the country and has been in the area since 2001 where he worked in group practice before founding the Foot, Ankle & Leg Center. According to his website, he strives to provide exceptional care of the foot, ankle & leg in a friendly, comfortable and relaxed environment where everyone is treated like family. From engaging with both Dr. Richer and his team, I feel like they have succeeded in doing this. The rest of his team (Meredith and Brittaney) are also friendly and very helpful in ensuring that I am prepared for my appointment, getting me situated when I arrive, and setting me up for a follow-up appointment as needed. I also confirm my appointment through a text in advance. They are open Monday through Thursday from 8 AM to 5 PM and on Friday from 8 AM to 3 PM. They have plenty of parking shared with other offices in front of their front entrance and a small but comfortable waiting area by the front counter where they have complimentary water bottles. After going through so much with another podiatrist, I am glad I found the Foot, Ankle & Leg Center and Dr. Richer and his team. They are now my first go-to podiatrist/foot surgeon!

Urgent Care wasn't much help, they determined it was a spiral fracture and were not willing to treat. I sat in the parking lot as my daughter and I wondered where to go to get help. Dr Hammad Zafar's Office was recommended by medical professionals so I called them. Laura answered the phone and although she didn't have an opening she listened empathetically. I'm sure they get these calls all the time. I just wanted an expert opinion, make sure I didn't do anything wrong before I could see someone for treatment. I got way more than expected, Laura called back an hour later, Dr Zafar would see me. I arrived thinking I would get a consult and put my mind at ease. To my surprise Dr Zafar came in like I had a regular appt, assessed, asked questions and gave me options. He then took his time and treated me with care. I left there feeling so much better and extremely thankful. I found a wonderful doctor and medical group! Thank you Dr Zafar!!

Dr. Tallman's unique approach, techniques & training, (outlined on his website), are far superior…read moreto any other doctor/practice I've researched; and most importantly, the results are nothing shy of MIRACULOUS, (as a former National Champion distance runner, I have some very high standards too!). To date, Dr. Tallman has done 12 stem cell treatments on me in the past ~8 years, NEVER ONCE failing to FULLY heal a new injury with a SINGLE treatment, (and I've come in with the full gamut, ranging from various ligament sprains & frayed tendons, to cartilage fissures, to even a fractured talus). The sheer SPEED of recovery from his treatments is equally miraculous: I'm typically back walking 5-10+ miles per day within just 1-2 weeks post-treatment; and by 3.5 - 4 weeks, ready to do what I now live for: EXTREME off-trail hiking/peak-bagging that involves 11-20+ miles & 7-12+ hours PER DAY! In addition to being a super skilled doctor and a perfectionist, Dr. Tallman's 'bedside manners' are impeccable: he takes the time to LISTEN to the patient & answer questions, he thoroughly explains what issues are present & how he plans to treat them, and he takes the time to get the treatment done properly. To top it off, his passion & drive to help people just radiates and really enhances the overall experience. Words cannot express how incredibly thankful I am to have Dr. Tallman 'put me back together' each year, (...sometimes twice per year...!), after the hiking season where I've pushed my body to insane limits. The only drawback to having such an amazing, one-of-a-kind doctor in my corner: when he does finally decide to retire, (which thankfully isn't any time soon from what he's told me!), then by default, so must I. Concluding with a specific example, (and by far one of the most impressive!) is my right ankle, which had been nearing Stage 3 arthritis from a childhood injury that occurred over 2 decades prior to my first visit with Dr. Tallman. Subjectively speaking, I was unable to "lead" with my right foot/leg while stepping down off anything taller than about 6" (if I tried to do so, my foot would literally buckle out in pain, almost like the automatic recoil one would experience from touching a hot stove with bare hands). And even just walking across a level surface would amount to CONSTANT stiffness at best, often accompanied by mild to moderate soreness/pain. Unlike all the other (new) injuries, (which Dr. Tallman confidently & correctly predicted would be healed in full after just one stem cell treatment), he made NO promises on [what HAD BEEN] my 'bum' ankle. There were mild to moderate improvements after the very first treatment, (and each treatment thereafter), and by about the 4th or 5th stem cell treatment, the healing took off in leaps and bounds, (literally!), as I could leap off a 3' tall rock/boulder, or jump down the last few steps, and land on my right foot without issue! And after another 3-4 stem cell treatments, the ankle RARELY EVER feels stiff, even after sitting for hours on end & then getting up to walk. The miraculous, 'subjective' results are consistent with the improvements on the MRIs.
