Being new to the neighborhood, Zanata's came highly recommended and we were anxious to like it. During the holiday season it was impossible to get in the door without a 30 min+ wait. When we DID get in, around March, the service was so-so, inattentive, and slow. The menu looked tasty but had many repeats- enough with the figs already! We chalked it up to an off night. In May, I returned with my mother. Again, the service was inattentive, the menu, unchanged. The food was okay, but the staff seemed bored and left us a little lackluster as well. My last visit was in late July with a friend who was visiting the square for the first time. We arrived after 2pm and were handed a LUNCH menu ( a smaller, abbreviated version of the dinner, really, with the addition of a few sandwiches). Another bored waiter, in a fairly empty room, who took 20 minutes to serve drinks and then returned with a flourish to announce that the lunch menu had expired and that we would now be working from the DINNER menu.... We told the manager we'd decided to go down the block to the Route 66 BBQ and get a pulled pork sandwich, okra and a happy smile instead. That's what we did and we aren't looking back! read more

Last night was my third visit to Zanata. We enjoyed our dinning experience & the extra treat of seeing the beautiful Blood Moon rising in the night sky as we left the restaurant. Each time I order the Blue Crab Dip served with soft fresh bread & also a crisp flat bread. It is so delicious! The pizza's are so wonderful that I find it too hard to order anything but pizza. My favorite is The Mighty Quinn. They also offer excellent wine & beer on tap choices. The servers have always been warm & friendly. The only downside to dinning at Zanata is that it can be a bit loud at times, mostly due to happy dinners enjoying good food & good company. read more

We have gone a few times now and its not bad at all. We usually get soup and pizza and the soup is really good but the pizza is greasy and oily most times. Service is great and the people are great. Wait can be long during peak hours but the local shops can assist with waiting. The inside looks fantastic and I enjoy going. I would recommend to friends and return. read more

We've been to Zanata three times since they opened, and each time it gets better. Had the best sea bass I ever had. The service was excellent - just enough attention, and the server was very familiar with the food, wine and beer selections. My husband had one of their pizzas and was also very pleased. Went here a couple months ago with my aunt and grandmother. It was great! I ordered a crab cake in an avocado and it was the bomb dot com!!!!! However service was a bit slow (this was a little after the lunch hour rush) so I don't know if that was because they were short staffed that day or because we ate at an odd hour. But I would 100% go back again!! read more

There was a big long line to get into this place thank God our friends are already seated.My friends really like this place so we went there very crowded seating was tight !! It was so loud if I was not meeting friends I would've turned around and left !! Maybe I'm too old. The wine was good , The food was OK I think I paid $34 for bison sirloin that was already cut up and must've been about 7or 8 slices of meat. They do not offer reservations or call ahead seating and the very young hostesses do not have any handle in the timing of turnover, however the 45 minute wait ended up being worth it. We were originally told the wait would be 30 minutes and since we were on our first date in months (we have a newborn), we decided to wait. I checked our status at 35 minutes and were told there were 3-4 couples in front of us, so possibly another 30 minutes. If they had told us an hour wait to begin with we would have left, so they kind of trap you there and we were not the only ones with this issue. However, Kate provided great service, the Pinot Noir was excellent and the peach sangria was awesome. We ordered the bruschetta plate and the Tuscan board to start, both excellent. We had the Three Pig Pizza for an entree and we agree we probably couldn't go wrong with any of the pizza options. read more

Although we have been here multiple times in the past, our experience this last Sunday was very disappointing. First, they ran out of the wine we wanted on their list. Next we ordered and returned the Paella. There was no flavor, missing ingredients and was generally put together wrong. As a replacement we ordered a pizza which was soggy and tasteless. Finally we had the six layer chocolate cake for 9.00. Yes 9.00 for a piece of dry cake. Step it up folks...this was terrible. read more

We ate here last year on a trip from central Arkansas to San Antonio. We've talked about getting back here for a year! Tonight, we finally did and were sorely disappointed. A restaurant is only as good as its weakest dish served on a mundane night. If this is true, Zanata needs to tighten up, quick. Ordered the pork chop with truffle Mac And cheese. We had had the steak previously but wanted to try something new. The pork was a miss. The Mac and cheese was cold. As in, not heated all the way through after removal from the fridge. My husband ordered the chicken with Gorgonzola risotto. The chicken was definitely reheated. He enjoyed the dish but would not recommend. Overall, the wait staff was good and the atmosphere was too. The food however, was a bitter disappointment. We'll try a different restaurant the next time we're in Rockwall. read more

Their pizza, baked in a traditional wood fired pizza oven, is delicious and their entrees are all highly creative and refined with complex flavors that pair together beautifully. The Standard pizza (margherita) is the best pizza I've ever had! The service at this local gem is friendly and patient with big parties (and on a holiday, no less). We came for New Years Eve brunch, and everyone enjoyed their meal. Most of our party got various combinations of half sandwich/half salad or cup of soup. I didn't try the Caesar salad, but those who did spoke especially high of it's dressing. Our table shared Bananas Foster for dessert and it was a hit (too strong for me, but I'm kind of a baby, admittedly). Will definitely try to return next time I visit the DFW area! read more

Very cool somewhat dark atmosphere, great wine and beer selection, food is always pleasing and staff is friendly! Busy on Thursday night. Food was so unique and delicious. Ordered stuffed figs and they were a 10 out of 10! The Hubbard pizza was so flavorful. Our favorite eatery in Rockwall. Interesting menu. They have the solid pizza selection (a constant) that are wood fired and tasty. The other part of Kevin's menu is reflected by what's available on the market that day. Steak and seafood dishes are top notch. Terrific bar. Love his half price bottle of wine on Sundays. Tuesday special is bottle of wine (his selection but always good), Caesar salad, and a pizza for $30. Perfect for a couple. The place gets pretty packed, and prime time can see a long wait. Thank God the food is incredible because the management is completely sketch. We were told over the phone that this establishment does not take reservations and arrive around dinner time with a party of seven and a baby in which we were told we would wait approximately 45 minutes to an hour (but that we could've made a reservation had we called ahead). I explained to the manager what was told to me over the phone and he seem to not give two cares and told me it was weird that an employe would say that. He said that they do take reservations for parties of six or more and the hostess told me that they "just tell people they don't take reservations when they're really busy." We continue to wait over an hour and twenty for a table for a larger party even though 4! four tops were wide open for twenty five minutes! Be advised that they will not push smaller tables together to accommodate a larger table. It was like they didn't want our service at all. After waiting an hour and 25 ish minutes the manager came over and chuckled and said "he can't believe that we had waited that long. " in shock and furious but we were starving and almost left before a large group got up right at the moment we were about to exit so we went ahead and sat and ate. Our waitress was really sweet and attentive. Food and drinks were incredible ....that will be the only reason we are returning. My husband and I were both in shock at the poor management as we are both business owners...as a manager would never mock the fact that customers awaited and proudly verbalize the fact that they won't push smaller tables together to accommodate a larger group. Thus he could've Comped appetizer but he mocked us instead. read more
