Things to know for a successful experience: -The garlic sauce is absolute MUST but it will stay on your breath all day so plan your social activities accordingly -Your meat options are chicken or beef/lamb. The food is great! Made to order. I got a falafel sandwich (vegetarian) which was really good and tasted fresh. Their garlic sauce is amazing!!! I definitely recommend it with the sandwich. This is a really chill place. It's attached to a grocery store so the interior isn't amazing. It's clean, but just lacks style. The owner is really nice. Always smiling! But the food is made to order and you can watch the guy behind the counter making it. There are so many items to choose from, I kind of panicked because my friend already placed his order and there were people behind me. I got the Sicilian Kabob Sandwich on a regular roll. (Had so many gyros, figured I would try something different). It was pressed panini style. The outer crust was just firm enough and chewy to give a good texture, the inside of the bread was soft yet firm. The flavor combination was amazing, it blew away all the other regular gyro's I've ever ate! Came with a side of fries, nothing special, they were good. You also get a little cup of ketchup (for fries) but more importantly their garlic sauce. I'm not 100% sure of all the ingredients in it, it's kind of like a yogurt or mayo base with garlic. I found myself dipping my fries in it and also putting some on my sandwich, it was soooo good. My friend got the country dinner, which is like a plate that they spread a good helping of humus over, then top it with a big pile of meat, and you get pita on the side. I tasted his and it was just *okay* compared to mine! lol... I'll have to sit and stare at the menu for a while before I go next time, that way I will know exactly what to order. I don't love the location or the restaurant area. The staff is not extreemely friendly. It never really feels that clean in there and when it rains, there are drips from the ceiling. But...the Shawarma is the best I've ever had. A perfect blend of meat and veggies in a large shell cripsed on the edges and dipped in the amazing garlic white sauce. it just can't be beat. I've never had it so good anywhere I've ever tried...even on my trip to Israel. It's all I've ever tried here because I just love it so much. Service was on the slow side, especially for being so slow, but the employees were friendly and didn't mind answering all the questions my "country bumpkin" mother had. We ended up ordering a bunch of plates and sharing everything: Falafel - by far my favorite menu item, crispy on the outside, hot, creamy and delicious and on the inside - didn't give you tzatziki sauce which was disappointing. Beef/Chicken/Lamb combo plate - grilled skewers of three meats, cooked to perfection, tender and moist. Beef/Lamb gyro - only had a bite but it left me wanting more. Hummus - smooth, creamy and delicious, one large order was enough for 4+ adults. Chicken Kabob - seasoned nicely and cooked well. Rice - slightly sticky but tasty. I LOVE this place. It's one of my favorites. Very unassuming from the outside but don't let that fool you. Their grilled chicken kabobs are SO GOOD. And their rice is addictive as a drug. I come out of here so full I'm sick but it is so worth it. The portions are pretty big, so my wife and I split a platter and just add a hummus and fattoush. I guess I have better luck with the service than most and find them very friendly. The beef kabobs have been a little tough a time of two but that would be my ONLY complaint. I had driven past this place numerous times but decided to give it a go since I've been on a shwarma kick. I ordered the shwarma combo with fries and some grape leaves- the food took a minute to be made which is fine. The first grape leaf was pretty tasty but the second and third ones were bland, the shwarma was sort of dry and instead of any yogurt sauce I was given mayonnaise. Was it edible? Yes. Tolerable? Is it decent for quick-ish Mediterranean food? Sure. Would I go out of my way to eat here?No. Does that alone constitute a 2 star rating? No. What does is lying and bad customer service. Below is the story of how tomatoes led to a 2 star rating. I ordered the beef koobideh that comes with rice AND roasted tomatoes. First this is not my first time eating beef koobideh. I particularly look forward to mixing my tomato with the rice. I'm not sure if roasted tomatoes are a signature part of this dish but everywhere I've eaten it has had it. Anyway, my plate did not come with tomatoes. Instead to my disappointment it came with a few pickled carrots. Initially, I thought they forgot the tomato, now I think they were just being cheap. Anyways, I went up to the counter to inquire about my "forgotten" tomatoes and instead of an explanation or apology for my "forgotten" tomatoes, the cook started to argue with me. He said, "It's a side. Sometimes it's tomatoes, sometimes it's not" so I pointed it out that the sign clearly states 'AND roasted tomatoes'- FYI the picture also had the tomato in it. Then he tells me," It's just a small piece of tomato." Okay, I get it. I still would like my small piece of tomato and then he tells me,"Well, we are out." SERIOUSLY?! That's all you had to say,"Sorry, we are out of tomatoes and that is why we gave you pickled carrots instead." I would have completely understood instead he had to argue with me about verbiage. I even had to tell him I wasn't trying to argue with him or demand anything. I just thought they forgot my tomato. So I then told him," Okay, that's all you had to say." So I went to my seat and my wonderful boyfriend then pointed out that the people next to us (who arrived/ordered after us) had tomatoes. So yeah they get 2 stars because their naan tastes like cardboard and because I don't go out to dinner so I can get into arguments, especially not over tomatoes. read more

Went in today and NOT a SINGLE EMPLOYEE was wearing a mask. It baffles me as to why the 5 employees were not taking the proper precautions to prevent the spread of COVID-19, especially when a good portion of their customers are older. Their food is decent during the week. There seems to be a change in cooks on the weekends and the quality/taste of the food reflects. Zamani's was a mixed bag of positives and negatives. First the good stuff - the food is pretty good, flavorful meats grilled fresh in front of you, tasty pita bread, decent garlic mayo dipping sauce. Now the less than good parts. Since the meat is grilled in front of you, inside the restaurant it was pretty smokey. The place is very much a hole in the wall. And finally the prices are a bit high for what it is. Prepare to pay $11-15 per plate. Overall, I've had much better (see Fadi's) but not many better places are in the north side I'll be back. read more
