The first time I came here was in 2009 and I was thoroughly disappointed. I'm pretty sure I had schawarma, but I couldn't tell you anything about it. I'm glad I decided to give it another shot though, because now I'm a huge fan! I've had the kofta kabobs and the mixed grill plate. Both plates came with rice and some crunchy veggies like carrots and cauliflower. The kofta kabob plate had hummus, which was tasty. The fattoush salad comes with the mixed grill, and it was the only thing I had that wasn't great. It was kind of warm and needed some salt. But regarding the important stuff...their kabobs were some of the best I've ever had. The mixed grill plate had lamb, chicken, and beef kabobs. I have no idea which kabob was beef or lamb, but the kofta kabobs are so flavorful! However, my favorite are the chicken--it's juicy and flavorful, while still having that nice grill char, which I was not expecting. The simple lamb/beef chunk kabob was pretty good, but not as flavorful as the others. I would definitely recommend grabbing a jar of the green stuff (za'atar) and sprinkling that all over your rice...ugh...love it. I felt kind of pathetic that while I was in the midst of eating, I was already wondering when I can come back and get more kabobs. The food here is usually good. My standard order is chicken shawarma, fries and hummus. The chicken shawarma has lots of meat and although that's great...it was really bland. The hummus was downright terrible. It definitely was not fresh and tasted like it was a few days old. I'm not sure what happened this time but i was quite disappointed. Happy that there's a decent Mediterranean place close to home. I crave this food often and the thought of driving all the way down to Westheimer for it is a bummer. We have been eating here as a family for YEARS... we have catered lots of family get togethers, birthdays, office events, etc. We always tell people to try it and they are never disappointed with the recommendation. Loved the herbs they put on the rice and meat. I believe the owner prepares all the food himself. But this knowledge is from 10 years ago - maybe it's changed. The flavors have not changed. Very delicious! If I lived closer I would go here often! I do not recall a baby changer but again, my knowledge of the restrooms is outdated by about a year. We visited for the first time this evening. There was quite a few people eating there when we arrived so we figured it had to be good. The food selection was great. I opted for the beef and lamb shawarma sandwich and my wife the chicken shawarma sandwich with hummus and falafel for sides. We were so pleased with the food...we both loved our sandwiches and the garlic mayo and hot sauce added a nice zip. Everything was delicious and cooked to perfection. The falafel was crisp on the outside and soft on the inside as it should be and was very good. The staff was very courteous and thankful for our business. I went to this restaurant past Saturday 6/15/2020 since I have been there regular customer. I order taker was very dry, he does not know how to greet people. Once I finished my order he did not give me my itemized receipt because I felt he overcharged me. When I got the recipient was right he overcharged me for one full meal. When I told him that what is that charge he said, oh I thought you had an extra order and very cunningly said to the kitchen guy to cancel it. And refund my credit card for only the price and not the tax that he charged me. I did not care about 1 or 2 dollars, but I have not seen any refund yet on my statement and if he did not give me the refund I will put this bad review on every group in Houston. read more

Although I've shopped here for years, every time I come the owner and his employees act like I'm a stranger. If I ask a question, no one knows the answer. If I answer in Arabic, they act like they don't understand me despite the fact that I'll watch them speak to each other and their friends in Arabic. The best service is from the owners two kids. This is no glamorous restaurant but they sure do serve a glamorous tasting shawarma. This little restaurant, sibling to a Mediterranean grocery store next door, is clean and comfortable--sometimes packed with families getting their fill of mouthwatering Mediterranean food. Customers at Zamani always seem to be savoring their food and I'm sure when I'm dining here, I look like I am too. I've ordered both the chicken and beef/lamb shawarma. They're both equally delicious. The pita bread is soft and slightly salted, the meat is flavorful and tender, and the garlic sauce inside is unique and full of zesty garlic flavor without being overpowering. What I love about the shawarma at this restaurant is that it doesn't sit heavy on the stomach or the tongue. The flavors are gentle and they don't punch you in the tastebuds or stomach too hard--like some gyro sandwiches at other restaurants. That being said, Zamani doesn't serve gyro sandwiches. The entire experience was TERRIBLE! When calling in, the person who took my order was short, abrupt and not friendly. When arriving at the restaurant, the cashier (tall young guy) was engaged conversation and watching video on his phone with a younger lady with another gentleman with his back facing the cashier. All three were watching a movie or video on their individual phones, not paying attention to customers. Realizing that my food was sitting on the shelf behind the cashier, I asked for my food and he grabbed, bagged it and gave it to me, not a thank you or anything, and back to his video and conversation with the young lady with the other guy. The cook was busy cooking, minding his business. Same rude attitude and behavior towards the other lady who was dining in when she needed assistance. Food is okay. Little hole in the wall place on Louetta at Old Louetta. I went to their store to find rose water for a recipe but walked away with rose essence and orange blossom essence, two small bottles, a dollar each. Their little market has a lot of interesting items, most of which I'll never use but I'm glad this store is here. It looks like there's a renovation going on. This place has been here for several years, at least. I stopped in for a gyro but they don't have them, only shawarmas, the Mediterranean's version of the burrito. It was good, , and I will probably go back just because it's so different from from I usually eat. The bread was crisped up really nice, I got a ton of meat and the sauce was delicious. It's a basic little diner, so don't expect tablecloths and mood lighting. In face, there is hardly any lighting at all but plenty of windows. The staff was helpful. I was also looking for almond flour and he pointed me in the right direction but couldn't come with me at the moment to help me. Later he caught up with me to make sure I had what I needed. It's not that big of a store but they do have a pretty big variety of items. Cookies, candy, spices, meat, vegetables. It reminds me of an old neighborhood store in NYC or Seattle. Family owned, they will stock what their customers will buy and nothing foo foo. My next purchase is olive oil and I do not doubt it will be what I need and I won't have to pay fancy Whole Foods prices. read more

Its not super cute inside or anything, so don't get all dressed up, but the food is very good and always tastes very fresh. Being from the middle east myself, I tend to be picky about the food from the area. This is a small restaurant tucked in a strip mall. The overall exterior or interior is not very impressive. It seems like a fast food joint which has been converted into a gourmet Mediterranean restaurant. The food experience there was just average. The chicken shawarma that I ordered was just about average and the rice along side was somewhat chewy, not the way you expect Mediterranean rice to be. The hummus was very bland and did not inspire much granularity or taste for that matter. Zamani's is a Mediterranean Market and a place where you can order food to eat in or take out. Although we have not really shopped in the market, we visit regularly for dinner or a weekend lunch. This is a family-owned business. Once we took an out-of-town guest with us and when we reached the counter to order, the owner asked to be introduced. He remembers everyone who comes in and greets them personally upon each visit. We call in our order and it's ready when we arrive. My boyfriend and I have have been to several Mediterranean places before and really enjoyed the food...this is NOT one of them. We ended up throwing away our entire meal it was so nasty. The hummus that is raved about has no flavor whatsoever, which is shocking. The wraps smells like foot sweat and the baba ganoush was sour and spoiled tasting. Yes the pita bread was good, I will give them that. However the place looked like it needed a visit from the health department. I come to the Tomball/Louetta area a couple of times a year for work, but usually wind up at Whataburger or one of the crappy buffets that dot Tomball Pkwy. This time I felt the need to branch out and Yelper's recommended Zamani. I'm glad they did. I stopped here for a quick bite between business meetings. Chicken Shawarma was juicy, great marinade and seasoning on the meat, full of spicy smoky goodness. The hummus was pretty good as well. Zamani is a bit of a dive and staff aren't what I'd call friendly, but they make a good product and it's convenient. I'm giving an extra star for proximity to my client meetings and taking one away for the lack of AC. (Fans? Really?!) Zamani's probably one of the better Mediterranean cafes around here. It's a real casual place with usually one guy cooking, so I'd recommend calling ahead if you can because food takes a long time to come out. The chicken shawarma sandwich ($6.75) is pretty solid and what I always get. Decent pita, great garlic sauce, and chicken that's not dry but maybe just a bit bland. Not as good as Alwadi (especially the garlic sauce), but definitely better than the average Mediterranean place in the area. Their falafel is really good as well, but a bit expensive (5 for $6.49). I assume the higher price is because it comes with pita and a bunch of salad/pickled veggies, but their regular pita isn't that great and the salad is just your standard salad. The falafel's delicious though, probably one of the better falafel I've had in town. Only knock on it is that it could be just a bit crispier and thicker on the outside. Skip the kibbe (2 for $4.99) which costs too much and tastes terrible, consisting entirely of chunky ground beef with no onions or pine nuts in sight. Their tzatziki sauce is legit though, with a nice kick of spice. And also the baklava ($1.50), which is good because it's baklava of course, but just an average baklava that's overly flaky and dry. They also operate a small grocery store attached next door. The selection isn't bad for the size, and it sure beats driving into town to go to Phoenicia. UPDATE: since Zaytoon Al Eman Market is now open just down the street, go there instead! They've got a much larger selection of goods than Zamani. read more
