The woman that helped us (local, plump) made us feel unwelcome and did not provide a friendly or warm experience. In fact, it was cold and borderline rude. I work in customer service and know what good service is, and she gave us none. No questions, no smiles, no attempt at engagement. I nearly want to consider buying our wedding bands somewhere else because I don't want to receive help for ring maintenance/size corrections from employees that behave that way. We definitely look young, so that may have affected her treatment of us, but we're actually 30. We also weren't buying anything, however, we were open to look at rings in-store. This was my second purchase here due to my first ring purchase basically falling apart a month into wearing it That's right a diamond fell out of one of my prongs. So of course as a woman I asked my then husband for an upgrade. I paid around 2k for my set. Fast forward to now, I found out the set is not even worth what I paid! This was at least 15 years ago when I got it back, they had changed the setting from a 1930s type setting where the diamond sat down low because I do not like Tiffany settings. Because I'm very hard on things. My ring was returned to me with the Tiffany setting. because I was newly divorced my son said well now it's your ring. And that was fine. I just came from Benbridge to have the diamond reset because the prong came off. My diamond isn't real. It's a lab diamond. I had the paperwork for this diamond. I know it was not a lab diamond! I told her I wanted real diamonds, so she showed us certain designs that get the most bang for our buck! It was down to 3 choices for me, and just a straight forward background - I'm CHEAP. Like. I have been coming here for years and haven't had a bad experience yet (crossing fingers & knocking on wood). Sweet ol ladies are quick to greet you and help you find what you desire. There has only been a couple times where I walked in, circled around, waited a bit, and all associates were still busy. Since I come in every 6 months to get my jewelry cleaned, all ladies do not feel burdened that they aren't making a sale. I am beyond upset. I came in for my ring inspection and it was fully in tact. I walked around for a few minutes and then my ring was ready. The lady gave me my ring back with a missing diamond. I had told her that I was missing a diamond and her response was "oh yeah.. I noticed that." REALLY. You noticed it and you weren't gonna say anything? How rude. I had told her that this wasn't my fault. Not once did she apologize. It's really upsetting at the fact that it honestly felt that she wouldn't have said anything unless I did. I have to give some major kudos to this Zales location. I sort of procrastinated on deciding on jewelry for a major event, so by the time I decided what I wanted, it was days before I needed it. The staff took the time to show me many different options until I found exactly what I was looking for. Initially they told me that it would take up to two weeks to get the jewelry resized and cleaned, but I asked if there was any way that I would be able to get it sooner for the event. The manager checked and verified that not only could they get it done early, but that it would be at no extra charge and with extra time to spare. The staff members were extremely friendly and courteous during each visit. Although the sticker prices at Zales are not always reasonable, they do have frequent sales and provide a military discount with an ID. Plus, one of my favorite parts of the Zales policy is that if you want to "upgrade" a piece of jewelry with a receipt and insurance policy, you can trade it in for the original value that you paid, as long as you are purchasing something that's at least double the value. For example, if you had a ring that cost $100 originally, you can trade it in for the full value as long as you are upgrading to a piece that is $200 or more. Because resale value for most jewelry is usually pretty dismal, having this buyback policy is extremely convenient and can save you money in the long run. I came here to look for bracelets and my first impressions of the store was that it looks kind of nice, but when you actually look, it's outdated. The cases that hold the jewelry are beat up and have holes in them; it makes me feel like they don't care about the quality of the product. The saleswoman who helped me showed me all the men's bracelets which was nice of her, but she knew very little about the product. For example, when I asked her questions about the product, she had to look at the tag and just said what was on there with the price. I would have felt much more comfortable if she informed me about the products or connected with me better. It was just her showing me stuff then saying goodbye. Stopped by here to get our wedding bands because the wife wanted to get them from here. She liked the service she received with all her other purchases. Needless to say, I really didn't feel comfortable in this store. Maybe because I'm a guy, but I really didn't like the vibe that I got. Basically, I felt that they were pushy. Not like a car salesman type of pushy, but still nonetheless. In part it was our fault that we went late to get our rings, and they didn't have our size, so it had to be ordered. But when you say you're going to make a rush for ordering the rings, you'd expect it, right? We were told they would come in on a Tuesday, so to call and check if it was. We went down there to ask, and they said because it was a special order, it would take 2-3 weeks. We didn't have that time frame. We told the other person there that we told our salesperson (who wasn't there at the time) it was a rush and she would rush it to Hawaii. There was no notes or communication for our order / record. They had to call her and then verify what was going on. Needless to say, it came 2-days later than promised. Lucky thing the wedding wasn't in that time frame. I don't like Zales. I've been coming here since 2006. We got rings here and purchased the extended warranty as well. Everytime I came here to get the diamond ring inspected and serviced, I always had some trouble. They would always take long to come and ask if I needed help. Then it was they didn't need to log in on the inspection paper they provided since they use the computer system and then when I come back, the sales clerk would accuse me that I didn't get it inspected previously. Fast forward to this year. They lost my info on the computer. Good thing one lady made a copy of my faded receipt or else they would start charging me and the warranty we paid for would be null. Everytime they tell me that my ring would be ready for pickup on a certain day was bull. They don't call you either. After coming in and finding out my ring wasn't there the first couple of times, I started to call before coming. They're always telling me to upgrade. Why would I if you just lost all my info and treat me bad when I come in to service the products I purchase from them? This last visit a few months back really pissed me off. I came in waited half an hour just to pick up my ring. When Rosie I believed it was passed by me, I asked if I could just pick up my ring. She tells me that I need to wait like everybody else. I then asked if she could just get it in their drawer which was quick to do. She then lies straight to my face and says she needs to look in the computer to find my ring! This is bull; they have never looked in the computer to find my ring when picking up. The lady who came after me was disgusted with what she heard and she too came to pick up. They tell me that I did it- it was normal wear and tear. They took it in for service with a grouchy face. You know who helped me. I get a call from them the following week that I need to pay for it! I was very angry at this point. I told this young lady that I will not since I paid for the warranty. Again she couldn't find my info and afterwards she cleared it up. Zales has been around for like forever. This location is always so clean and everything speaking of course since it's a diamond Store. My husband and I bought our wedding set from here 5 years ago and we take our rings to get cleaned every 6 months along with our inspections to honor our lifetime warranty. We decided to go with white gold and was not aware that it turns color . We used to bring our rings in and have it sent out to get a rodium coating which makes it shine like new gain. This process used to take about a week. Evidently now they send out the jewelry to another state and it take about three weeks. We walked in and immediately spoke to a saleswoman who guided us to where we needed to be to find a 2 carat princess cut solitaire engagement ring. She started off showing us their celebration diamond that was twenty grand. She went on and on about how many facets they had in the cut and yadda yadda yadda. All I could see was that the "princess cut" looked like an emerald cut. The square shape was more rectangular than it should have been, and for the amount of money they wanted, it couldn't be overlooked. We then looked at regular diamonds, not the celebration diamond, but just regular, plain old diamonds. Wow, there is a huge difference. But not as big of a price difference as you'd expect. Unfortunately for Zales, I had just seen a number of diamond solitaires of much better quality for less money. To be honest, at that point, I pretty much checked out. But our salewoman protested. She continued on about how you can get a value with a cheaper ring and replace the diamond later for a better one. And how we can get the ring today if we get a Zales card and make payments. I've been a Zales customer for years and I always hate going to in to do things because it is never a good experience until today. My usual visit (at all locations on Oahu) results in me waiting forever and a day to be noticed by someone to help me (they are either talking with each other or looking as they are doing something better). But today I entered, Jennifer quickly acknowledged me and asked me what I needed assistance with and handled my two tasks in a quick and efficient manner. We got our wedding rings from here and the handful of times that we came the customer service was great! The staff that helped us was very attentive with great vibes. However, recently my fiancé and I went in to buy my wedding band. The lady that helped us was great. She was up front and told us that because they didn't have my size in the wedding band that I wanted they would need to order it but assured me that it would get to them no more than 3 days. We paid and was told that they would give us a call when it was delivered. Fast forward to 3 days later. I received no call but I thought no big deal I'll give them until the end of the week. A few minutes later she tells me that I was mistaken about the turn around time being 3 days and that my order would actually take 8 weeks because it's a special order! I told her that I was not told that it would take 8 weeks but 3 days from the lady who helped me. She apologizes but assures me that they will call me when it gets here. With nothing else for me to do but wait, I let it be. Another 3 weeks go by and I receive not one call from them. At this point I'm irritated. I give them a call and politely ask them where my order that was supposed to take 3 days but was actually taking longer because someone had told me that it was a special order. The sales lady that is helping me over the phone checks on my order and when she returns to my call starts laughing and apologizing because my ring had been delivered a while back! I'm irritated at this point because while she's laughing she tells me how sorry they are that no one called me and that I can come in and pick it up at anytime. I pick it up a day later and the customer service I received in person was a joke. The associate does not apologize for the fact that my order had been with them all along and that no one had called me. She just hands me the ring and asks if I'd like a box for it. He has a wedding ring, but his is to big (it was a size 11) So I told her I wanted to take it to my husband in July and surprise him with it. But that I will make my order sometime in june because I didnt know the exact date I was leaving. I didnt order it that time because I didnt want anything to happen it. I just went in June 23rd to order, and she remembered me :) ! I was very shocked because I know she must see alot of people, but she said she remembered me because of my story. (Shes very sweet!!) But I ordered the ring in my husbands size, and was told it would take 4-6 weeks. I just went in TODAY and asked Tasha how I could track it online, and out of nowhere she tells me that my husbands ring came in and she sent it out to get it engraved, and that it'll be ready by this thursday!!! I was amazed how she was just on her game, and sent it out for the engravings right after it came in! I wanted to cry, because I told myself that it wouldnt be ready by the time I leave! I purchased a ring for my now Fiance and when we got it appraised it was valued at 50% below what I paid and pretty much got a "tough luck" from Zales. Originally the Ring was 6k and they had a sale going on which brought it down to around 4500. All appraisal places valued the ring at 2300, to top it off one of the small diamonds on the side of the ring has already fallen off. This ring was purchased in April, and they have a 6 month cleaning that comes with the warranty which examines all the prongs and diamonds. Not even a year into it and we are already having to deal with missing diamonds. I would NEVER buy something from them and they deserve less than one star for false advertising on valuing their items higher than they are. read more

I've been thinking about my review for weeks now. The more I think about what's happening, the angrier I get. We purchased my wedding set before you had to buy the lifetime warranty. A year later, at my 6 month review I was told I needed to now buy the same warranty I was told was included in my purchase. Old customers were not grandfathered in to the "new" policy. Okay. Fine. I want my extremely expensive rings and heirloom center stone well cared for. The jeweler is on island and the turn around is only 3 days. This ring has only passed a handful of inspections without having to be repaired. The platinum prongs that hold my diamond are ridiculously soft. I've asked for the prongs to be replaced with white gold because they bend so often. I was going to be charged $200. Fine, whatever, I'll just keep bringing my set in. I've already spent too much at this awful store (I won't go into being yelled at by an associate at one inspection). I go into the store for my 6 month inspection knowing that my rings will have to go in, again, for repair. This time, however, I'm informed that they no longer use a jeweler on island and I have to wait 4 weeks. This is the last straw. I have so many problems with this! First, if you're sending my extremely expensive wedding set (and heirloom diamond) to the Mainland, it had better be overnight and it had BETTER be well guarded. I would NEVER in a million years have chosen to do business with a company that didn't have a jeweler on island. I would NEVER have agreed to having my set leave the island. And I would NEVER agree to having my set away from me longer than a few days (and even that was difficult for me). Now, I'm stuck. I have ZERO say in what happens to my rings. If I want my rings to be taken care of and my diamond secured, I am hostage to whatever ZALES decides to do about contracting a jeweler. This is in breach of the contract we have and I am seriously considering legal action. I do not feel safe wearing my rings any longer, because I don't want them sent away. I'm stuck and it's UNACCEPTABLE. A 4 week turn around time is UNACCEPTABLE. Sending my rings to the Mainland is UNACCEPTABLE. read more

My husband and I do all of our jewelry shopping at Zales, wedding rings included, mostly at the Kahala Mall location and I've always been pleased except for this most recent Saturday when I was at pewrlridge and thought I'd buy my daughter some new earrings. I walked in and no one greeted me at all, two ladies were shelling customers and there were two ladies standing in the back behind a computer, looked like doing nothing. I stood there for 15 minutes waiting for someone to say something, especially the lady that was standing RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME. She was helping another customer but she could have leaned over and said someone will be with you shortly, I wouldn't have minded waiting but nope!!! So I walked out and came back 30 minutes later thinking maybe they'd be willing to help now, nope again!!! Ignored, if you don't want my money for expensive earrings, then that's exactly what you got! I went to Ben bridge next door and they were 100 times better. Bought my bridal set from here and we haven't had much bad experiences. But this past Saturday is pretty much where I draw the line. I surprised my husband with a citizen watch that I had bought him for Christmas. Being as he's been off island since then we haven't had time to go down and get it sized. So it happens he finally comes home & since we were in the area decided to go and get couple links taken out. First we walk in there and I get their were kind of busy. But no excuse to why they would not greet their customers with a simple "hello" or "someone will be right with you". After 15 mins of waiting and being ignored someone finally came over. Wish she hadn't. Rosie has terrible customer service. I didn't have the receipt for my husbands watch so she tried looking it up by name and couldn't come up with anything. Which is funny but I got the insurance and everything on his watch. So after another 15 mins of looking in their system she took the watch in the back anyways and took the links out. I get that I didn't have the receipt but no excuse for the judgmental tone and rude remarks about if I even purchased the watch there. I felt like going home just to get the receipt and shove it in her face. Needless to say I asked someone if they was a way I could refund this watch because I don't believe in spending my hard earned money to this type of customer service. Sadly they have a 30 day return policy for watches. So as far as getting my money back it's out of the question but best believe no more future purchases from me or my husband. read more

I took my engagement and wedding band in for its 6 month maintenance. I expected it to be re-plated, all the employee did was clean it. When I specifically asked to have it re-plated, she said it had to be sent out to the mainland and would take 2-3 weeks. At this time I also decided to have it re-sized. All of this was fine, but three weeks go by and I receive no phone call. I left the ring with them 10/24 and my receipt said it would be ready 11/14. I called 11/16 after not receiving a phone call. I was told my ring was ready and that someone had called and left a message it was ready. No one had called, there was no message. I was trying to explain this to the woman on the phone but she did not want to hear it, she continuously interrupted me and talked over me to the point that I was upset. I asked to speak to a manager. She refused and said the manager was busy and continued to talk over me and interrupt, so I hung up. I went in to pick up my ring because at this point I'm done trying to communicate with these people. When I walked in no one greeted me, and another person was helped before anyone spoke to me. I'm very disappointed with the level of service and lack of professionalism from this location. I will not be returning here in six months for the next maintenance of my rings, and when my husband goes Christmas and Valentine's Day shopping for me I will tell him to take his business elsewhere. All I wanted was to be heard that I did not receive a phone call or message. The number one file is my cell, so I have a visual record of all calls and messages. Either they called the wrong number or they lied about calling. The employee was very rude in how she handled my call and I don't appreciate being told I can not speak to a manager. read more

I came here last year to get my now-fiance a new promise ring for Father's Day since the one he had was getting kinda banged up due to his carelessness. The lady who helped me was was very patient with me, and helpfl with everything. She talked me into doing an engraving on the ring, and although it would've taken a little longer, I still went with it. I got a call from them a few days earlier than the expected date saying that it was ready for pickup. I was VERY satisfied with the outcome of the ring, and my fiance loves it. The only reason why I'm giving this place three stars is due to the service we got this past mother's day. Sure, it's our fault for being last minute shoppers and getting gifts for our mothers & grandmothers the day of Mother's Day. As soon as we got it, there was a tad bit of a crowd, and this older Filipino lady (didn't get her name) approached us asking if we needed any help. I told her that we were looking for a gift for our mothers as a Mother's Day gift, and we preferred to get them necklaces. She didn't ask us any other questions except, "Would you like to get a Zales Credit Card?" For someone who has to cross-sell at her own working place, this is one way to ask someone and turn them off immediately. I personally hate when retail stores ask me straight off the back asking if I want a credit card with no remorse or no genuine feelings about helping me out, and just wanting the commission they get from it. I kindly told her that I wasn't interested and she kept pushing for me to sign up for her. I continously told her nicely that I still wasn't interested and had to remind her about 4 times. By then, I got irritated and walked right out and brought my business to another store. Other than that, I love their selections of jewelry that they have. read more

I had come in for a cleaning. Dropped my ring of cleaning and then inspection. Came back after 10 minutes like the lady said, and we'll do inspection after the cleaning. At that time each of the ladies were busy, I waited. Which is OK with me. The lady who took my ring, went over started cleaning it really quickly and violently-i mentioned the inspection. She said she did it. Even though the ring was marinating in the cleaning solution for about 20 minutes by that time. (Watched her put it in as we were leaving for the 10 minutes) The reason I know she DID NOT do inspection is because I had a minor lose diamond last time but I was told it was OK to wear but come back soon. Came here twice, both times being assisted by Jennifer. She is AWESOME. Very patient, informative, offers great advice & not pushy about making a sale/commission. I've been to jewelry stores where the workers were just straight up snobs & wouldn't care to even acknowledge you unless they knew you were a serious customer. I appreciate her genuine patience, personality & great customer service. She also worked her magic & hooked me up with a gorgeous pendant. I'll definitely be coming back & recommending her (and this store) to others interested in new jewelry. read more
