Chicken burger and fries, with milkshake = about $17. Plus tax & tip.

Oh noooo!! We forgot to take pictures before eating!! We ordered a Chicken burger and fries with one of their huuuuge (and very tasty) milkshakes, and the Greek wrap with butternut squash soup and a side of potato pancakes (this last add on was $3.00). Each meal was about $17.00. I have to admit to avoiding this place beforehand; I won't avoid it any more! The decor is fabulous - all '50s. Everyone gets a booth! All we needed was a jukebox in each one. However, they compensated with something like a Wurlitzer in the corner (modern: it seems to be touch screen) back to the future?! Anyway, they're open 24/7, and serve breakfast any time. The food was good but not fabulous, and the waitress didn't know the soup du jour, or the cost of the side of potato pancakes, but was willing to find out for us. The fries were tasty, but there was a hair in them! Compensation was a $5.00 coupon for our next visit.

Today's visit was better than the last. Our server was excellent, dealing with our large group without breaking a sweat, and with a smile. Coffees were topped up without having to ask. The pancakes were fluffier than I expected they would be if they were made from a mix.

    Chocolate mint milkshake!

I came here to pick up a milkshake, since I was craving one specifically from Zak's (don't judge)! and was quite impressed with how large and decorated the space was, compared to the downtown location. The staff were lovely and were joking with each other and seemed to genuinely enjoy working there. I got a chocolate mint milkshake and it was as delicious as I remember. :)

Hey, you! Out there on the road, looking for breakfast. Or just leaving your hotel, unable to face another plastic fork. Or you are new in town, and want someone to cook for you. Put this address in your GPS, and boogie. This restaurant chain has studied breakfast, and the results are very satisfying. Yes, my pictures of my oatmeal across Canada all look the same (according to my Facebook friends) but seriously...steamed milk? And just enough fresh strawberries. Blueberry pancakes large enough to share, and eggs just right. We knew we were in the right place when we saw a table full of men wearing reflective vests, and smelled the coffee, but it just kept getting better. When we walked in "Barracuda" was playing on the sound system, and it set the tone for the whole meal. And the restrooms are marked with signs of Wonder Woman and Superman. And it's located in a strip mall with a beer store AND a liquor store AND an unrefined olive tasting store. This experience makes it hard to leave Canada again. We did pick up a few bottles of Jackson Triggs at the liquor store, and back on the road again. We know where we will stop for breakfast next time we are in Ottawa. And you should, too.

This place is awesome. To start off, the restaurant is quite big and has lots of seating, so you…read morecan usually come in without a reservation and get seated quickly. The food has always been fantastic, and the portions are always generous (keep that in mind when ordering!) The house potatoes that they have are the best (it's one of the main reasons that I eat brunch here) so definitely order something that comes with a side of potatoes if you can. For the crepes, something to keep in mind is that sometimes the crepe itself can be quite difficult to cut into. For example, we ordered the Crepe & Fruits, and it was so plentiful in fruits that when the crepe was opened it looked like a fruit salad (which unfortunately made it impossible to cut into). The crepe ended up getting cut up very messily, eaten alone and then the fruits eaten alone as well. There's only three options for crepes anyways, so just as a precaution I'd recommend getting a waffle instead (they're just as good but easier to eat!) The pancakes are even better- below is a picture of Carole's Cinna-cakes which is an absolute must have if you're a cinnamon roll fan like me. They were so good, and surprisingly super filling. I'm planning on coming back soon just to grab these again. Definitely an option I'd recommend! In general, though, most of the food items are great, and the nice part is that the menu is packed with different options to choose from, to the point where it might be overwhelming. It took us maybe 20 minutes to fully decide what we wanted to order because there were so many options that sounded delicious (maybe check the menu beforehand if you tend to get overwhelmed when ordering!) The area that this restaurant is in is also really practical. There's a bunch of different food places in the same row (like D-spot, Baton Rouge, etc), a nearby Landmark Cinema, Sportchek, and Centrum Plaza that's walking distance, which is perfect if you're looking to grab brunch with friends and then go for some shopping or walking around the area. All in all, so far all of our visits here have been fantastic, and it's definitely a great place to eat at!

Stacked Pancake & Breakfast House - The Turkey Bacon Benedict $15.99

The Short Version: Canadian chain restaurant specializing in…read morebreakfast/brunch items. Overall I thought it was ok. I did not feel it had anything to make it stand out among other breakfast chains. The Long Version: My husband and I had brunch here with friends of ours, another couple. None of us had been to a Stacked Pancake and Breakfast House before. The chain has been around for over a decade, but only expanded to Ottawa in the last year or so. They do not take reservations on weekends, so we had to wait around 20 minutes for a table. We got a booth and it was a bit snug. It was crowded and loud. Not the best environment to catch up with friends. I got the Turkey Bacon Benedict ($15.99) and my husband got the Fried Chicken Benedict ($16.99) from their limited time menu. Our friends got the Crepe Stack ($19.99) and the Express ($11.99). The men asked for coffee, I asked for a glass of iced water and one of our friends got a specialty coffee. I think she got a pumpkin spice latte. The server brought everyone iced water, the pumpkin spice latte and 3 coffees, even though I didn't order coffee so I thought maybe it came with my meal, as this is common with many breakfast restaurants. Anyway, when the bill came, the coffee was $2.99. We just paid it, since I didn't question it when the server brought it, but I do wonder whether it was a tactic to get more money from customers or an honest mistake. My Turkey Bacon Benedict was ok, but nothing remarkable in my opinion. The home fries were also ok. They were crispy, not brunt and not mealy. The accompanying "fruit salad" was a bit of a joke, it was literally a cube of orange, a cube of grapefruit, a cube of pineapple, a cube of honeydew, a cube of cantaloupe and 2 grapes. Literally 7 tiny pieces of fruit in a plastic Solo cup that was only slightly larger than the size of Solo cups usually used for ketchup or other dipping sauces. The hubster enjoyed his dish. His potato was curly fries, which is fun because curly fries are kind of rare around here. Our friends said their meals were good, but they did not finish their plates (and declined to take anything home). Service was pleasant especially considering that they were very busy, but our server was efficient and courteous. Coffees were refilled frequently (refills are free). This location is in the Kanata Centrum in the section near the Party Mart and Healthy Planet. Lots of free parking in the plaza parking lot. Overall a satisfactory place for breakfast/brunch. If I ever return I will be sure to say, "just water, no coffee." Lol. Review #217 (2025)

No line-ups. We weren't keen on sitting by the door due to the draft coming in. We were told we had to wait for a two-seater because they didn't want us to take up a four seat table. We're like wtf??? I can see this if you the hot new restaurant in town and huge demand, but quite literally there was four 4-seat tables sitting empty and no line-up. In any event, we stayed, sitting in some two-seater jammed in the corner. And then we ordered a breakfast. I'm a Ozempic user, so I don't eat much - I was going to take an egg, a piece of bacon, and a couple of potatoes from my wife's plate. Oh - can't do that. There's a $2 "sharing charge". Like, wtf? I'm done with this place and their stupid policies. The food is typical diner fair that you can get any diner, nothing special here.
