booked a Black Friday appointment at Zaaka Bridal with a $50 deposit. I was running late driving in from out of town, and they did accommodate me with a later time slot, which I appreciated. When I arrived, I was the second customer in the store, yet there was only one robe, which already made the experience uncomfortable and exposed. Muna, my consultant, was amazing -- kind, patient, and truly the only reason I considered purchasing a gown. I'm 5'2" and a size 16-18, and only two dresses fit me. She handled me with grace and made me feel comfortable. While I was deciding on a $1,550 dress and $450 veil, the owner made 2 comments that didn't sit with me well regarding the dress "It's your size and there aren't many options in your size," and then, as I stepped aside to make a phone call, added, "I need to know what you're going to do because I have to write this up." The pressure and tone were unnecessary and disappointing. There were also no price tags, and asking for prices resulted in vague responses. "It's Couture and expensive" In the end, I paid $50 to try on only a couple of dresses and left feeling rushed, limited, and discouraged. Curvier brides should be aware that the inclusivity and sensitivity you expect may not be what you experience here. read more

PLEASE READ BEFORE BUYING A DRESS HERE! I rarely leave reviews, but as a bride, my experience with Zakaa Couture was so disappointing that I feel the need to share. When I first visited in November, my appointment with Zakaa, the designer and owner, went wonderfully. I found the perfect dress and even a simple veil I loved for $200. Zakaa told me she would note the veil in my account so I could purchase it later, and she also assured me that alterations would not exceed $1,000, recommending I have them done in-house. At that point, I felt confident in my decision. Unfortunately, everything after that was a letdown. I had to reach out myself to schedule my first fitting because no one from the store ever contacted me. When I finally came in, the front desk employee simply told me, "Your dress is in the back," and left my mom to help me put it on. For such a high-end boutique, this felt extremely unprofessional. Then, the seamstress, who admitted she had only been working there a few months, never measured my waist, bust, or hips, and seemed unfamiliar with basics like a bustle. On top of that, the $200 veil I had chosen months earlier was never documented in my account. When I asked for it, I was told the cheapest veil was $500 and offered a "custom" option at the same price, which felt dishonest. The alterations process was equally frustrating. My hemming appointment lasted only 30 minutes, yet I was immediately asked to pay $1,300 in full before any alterations had even been completed. When I expressed discomfort, I was told I had to at least pay half upfront, and I was pressured about a 3% credit card fee. When I asked about Zelle or Venmo to avoid the fee, they said no, they didn't accept that. I then asked if my debit card would avoid the fee, and they told me it would not. Finally, the front desk girl said, "I'm not allowed to do this, but I'll remove the fee for you." To make matters worse, after I requested that Zakaa personally be present at my next fitting, I received an email later that night telling me they no longer wished to work with me and that I needed to pick up my dress immediately. I was shocked and heartbroken, especially after investing so much money here. While I truly love my gown, the lack of professionalism, transparency, and care throughout this process was unacceptable. I shared a picture of a dress that I liked and Zakaa has made a dress that looked even better than my expectations. The dress was delivered in a timely fashion. I had a wonderful experience at the store. Zakaa and her team truly helped my friend and I with both our dresses. My friend and I went to several stores/boutiques and experienced the grueling act of trying on dress after dress only to find overpriced bad quality dresses or nothing at all. My friend purchased a dress she felt was "a steal" because she was told it was designer and loved it. Afterwards they added so many charges for every little item that she left with her dress trying to think of solutions. We found ZAKAA and found their atelier was on site - the designer helped my friend to rework her dress into what she wanted and when we got there we realized just how much she got ripped off when we compared her "designer" dress to ZAKAA's beautiful gowns. My friend could have purchased 2 customized dresses by a real designer than what she left with from this other store. ZAKAA even worked in an alteration package for my friend which let me tell you NO ONE would ever do especially for a dress that isn't theirs! She came up with money saving plans and work to make this dress my friend's dream dress. She literally took a piece of fabric dress that didn't even have boning into a masterpiece! Another upside to this experience was when it was my turn to purchase a dress I knew exactly where to go. I was able to put together a customized dress with the designer and have a packaged alternation deal, flat price for everything, that was VERY fair based on the insane amounts others quoted us. ZAKAA's Downtown One Loudoun location was beautiful and gave an intimate feel to me and my guests. I came in with a loose idea of what I wanted, but the designer herself, Zakaa, was there throughout my appointment helping narrow down my dream look. She really listened to what I was liking and not liking in order to continue pulling pieces that was personalized to my style. I ended up with an amazing dress and cape. Zakaa worked with me on pricing and during the appointment you could tell she was truly looking out for the bride and wanted me to feel comfortable and confident. I bought my wedding gown from Zakaa in May 2019. I bought the "Grace" gown and it was absolutely gorgeous! The fine details with the voluminous skirt made me feel like a queen. The dress looked beautiful in all my photos! I bought it off the rack, and it was very affordable! My consultant was Zahra who no longer works there, but she created a super relaxed and fun atmosphere :) The shop is really well laid out and it makes shopping easy! Thankfully this was not the first bridal shop we went to because the overall experience was completely disappointing. The first impression of the receptionist gal and the woman who I think owned the shop, came off snooty, standoffish and impersonal. We weren't allowed to use their rest room and there was no where to sit and watch my daughter in her gown, we had to stand to the side. It was a small shop with very little variety and selections. They pushed the fact that they could change the dress design to accommodate what we wanted and was more interested if we had "wiggle room" in our budget. I thought I had my wedding dress, until the time of the alterations came. I realized that (dress not purchased at Zakaa) it was just not the one, three months away from my wedding date. I walked in to Zakaa Bridal just to look, and was greeted by the wonderful designer herself. She was very helpful and made beautiful recommendations based on what I did want. I tried on a design I would have never thought of asking for and ABSOLUTELY FELL IN LOVE with it!! I felt a huge moment of peace and joy with the dress on. Zakaa asked me to close my eyes and if I could picture myself in that dress next to my groom, and if I can picture myself in our venue, which I totally could! It felt so magical. The materials in the dress are so beautiful and the design is so detailed. She also had the most perfect veil to compliment the dress. It felt as if someone had crawled into my dreams and brought it to life. The whole process was very convenient, fast, friendly, and with zero stress. It pains me to write this review as I was very much looking forward to using Zakaa Bridal when it came time to find the dress of my dreams. Despite some of the hurdles my MOH went through with her own Zakaa experience, there was a lot of anticipation leading up to my appointment with this vendor. I scheduled my appointment over a month in advance and was nothing but excited. When it came time for my appointment though, nothing seemed to go as planned. 1. I fully expected the designer to be present as the main reason for going with Zakaa was for the opportunity to discuss customization options as that is something I valued so heavily in the dress search process. Needless to say, the designer was not present and I was not informed that that would be the case for my specific appointment date/time. If I would have been made aware, I would have adjusted my date/time to ensure what I wanted. 2. Dresses were already pulled for me which was not my expectation, but understandable given the pandemic and limitations around having people touch the dresses. The Junior Designer that was helping me then proceeded to put me in my MOH's dress which I specifically asked her not to do upon my arrival. The last thing I want to do is try on my best friend's dress and pick it apart in front of her. Though absolutely beautiful, it was the dress for her, not me. 3. The salon itself was extremely uncomfortable. Gorgeous space like I remembered from my MOH's appointment, but it was overly hot which made the getting in and out of dresses tough to bear. The temperature issue was expressed, but nothing was done to appease the client(s). 4. The Junior Designer was not the kindest. There was a certain attitude to her demeanor that made one feel powerless and shrugged off. Not the way a Bride to Be wants to be feeling as they are about to make one of the most important decisions/purchases for their wedding. 5. The appointment attendees let me fall in love with one of the gowns and then proceeded to tell me that it was $1500 over budget at its base line. Knowing full well what my budget was from the start of the appointment as well as the fact that I wanted some customization, just doesn't seem the most appropriate way to lead a bride to the perfect dress. I understand that my vision could be more expensive than my wallet, but that is what we, as clients, lean of the professionals for. To guide us to either meet in the middle or to a different but better vision. 6. Though I will admit that we spent more time in the salon than a typical appointment allows, the Junior Designer made it a point to let us know that they were closed as I was struggling to decide whether or not I should pay the additional costs for this particular dress. After all said and done, everything would come out to be around $2500-3000 more than what I had anticipated. As you can imagine, that is a very tough decision to make when one is also paying for their wedding out of their own pocket. 7. In our closing out conversations with the Junior Designer, my MOH was looking out for me and had expressed some of the hurdles that she experienced in order to ensure that wouldn't happen with me. This was met with disdain and rudeness. Rather than hearing our concerns and ensuring us that they wouldn't let it happen again, they fought back trying to provide justification. At that point, the client is always right and some ownership on the vendor's side should have taken place. In the end, I ended up leaving the salon without a dress and disappointed. I spoke with the designer the next day and explained my frustrations as I strongly felt that any business owner deserves to know how her business is being run outside of her involvement in order to make it better. She heard my feedback and was rather apologetic so I felt better and scheduled another appointment to meet with her directly. Leading up to that appointment, there was more drama with my MOH and her veil delivery. With that, I scheduled other appointments and was lucky enough to find the dress of my dreams elsewhere. read more

I recently got my dream wedding gown, but the boutique wasn't open yet for alterations due to fear of COVID-19 and strict social distancing regulations. I'm kinda on a time-crunch with the possibility of my wedding postponing to early October, so I needed to find a bridal seamstress soon, especially with the amount of intricate work to be done. I called a few places, but all were temporarily closed. Then, I remembered that I follow ZAKAA Couture on Instagram and thought I'd give them a try. Fingers crossed, they answered and said that they too were closed mainly offering virtual consultations but as of this week reopening their flagship for appointment only 2020-2021 brides. They reassured me that they are following the social distancing rules mandated by the governor and allowing 1-1 appointments with just the bride. So after taking a huge sigh of relief, I booked my initial appointment and could not have felt more pleased. I met with the CEO and creative mastermind of the lavish brand, Asma Zaka herself. She was warm and welcoming taking extra precautions while following CDC guidelines. Walking around her glamorous ZAKAA Bride flagship store in One Loudoun, I was completely in awe of the many beautifully intricate bridal gowns and accessories. There was sparkle, lace, beaded embroidery, tulle, florals, crystals and gems of all sorts. I was completely mesmerized. I wish I would've went to her sooner before buying my dress. After Asma had me try on my gown, she asked me what exactly I envisioned on my wedding night. I'd loved that, because it showed that my vision was important. Little did I know, it was actually her way of getting me excited again and back in that happy place I once was before the world changed. It felt really good to be looking forward to happier times; thus, having to postpone my wedding wasn't so bad anymore. Honestly, I can't wait to see the final product of my conservative yet chic bridal gown and veils (traditional green for religious wedding ceremony and pure white for wedding reception). All I can say is that ZAKAA Bride has got their hands full with all that elaborate work to be done in the coming months. Honestly, this place made me feel so bad about my body. I'm a plus size bride and while I understand that most boutiques don't have plus size clothing, I was hoping they would have some. Obviously they did not. I wish the women would've told me this instead of putting me through what she did. So she brought me this nice dress and had me put my legs in, unfortunately only 1 leg would fit. She then had me come out of the dressing room and hold it against myself. From the bridal experience in store to my final fitting, Zakaa herself was very flexible and willing to do everything in my power to make me the gown of my dreams. From color, to material, to cut of the dress and every tiny detail in between, Zakaa Bride will make you feel like the most beautiful girl in the world on your wedding day. Zakaa also suggested details I never would have imagined including my lace cutout and my 110" veil, both of which became two of my favorite pieces of my dress. Furthermore, I noted that I wanted a low, open back; Zakaa did absolutely everything in her power to make that a reality because she knew how important it was to me. I made a review of this place yesterday and it was taken down.... they shipped my dress in a paper bag, they made me order a new dress and pay for it after sizing me wrong. the dress took 3 months to get shipped.. I was told it was shipped and a couple weeks later told they hadn't even made it yet. it got to me one week before the wedding (wedding was yesterday). After seeing all the other bridesmaid's dresses, we all realized they made my new dress in the wrong color. What was supposed to be more of a royal blue was navy. They are rude on the phone, incompetent and apparently take down bad reviews. Another bridesmaid In the party (who is tiny) was an hour away from walking down the isle when the zipper broke, leaving a gaping hole.
