I haven't been in quite some time, but I had been gifted a Groupon that I needed to use before it expired, and since my regular massage therapist (at a different business) was away for a month, I decided to cash in my voucher. This massage was nothing like the previous ones I had received from Beacon Massage. For one thing, a good 15 minutes of my allotted massage time was spent on a lecture about my posture, my sleeping position, my stance, and my exercise habits. If I had wanted such advice, I would have gone to my chiropractor or my doctor. Second, a good 10 minutes was spent with the massage therapist seeing how "uneven" my body was, which required me to be on the bed in my clothes while I was told that one leg was slightly longer than the other, one hip was higher than the other, etc. Very strange. Third, I had asked for a focus on my upper back and instead most of the massage was spent on my arms. When I opened my eyes to peak at the clock, 15 minutes had gone of just arm work! I was told to flip to my front for only 10 minutes of back work (remember, 25 minutes had been spent on a lecture and fixing my "unevenness". After leaving the room, I was treated to another lecture about my posture and how I shouldn't ask for back work, and then the massage therapist immediately asked how I wanted to tip. I always tip, but I still find it rude to ask outright about it, especially after having just lectured me on things you think I need to correct in my life. I'm very disappointed by this massage, especially since I previously had some decent ones from Beacon Massage. I visited for a relaxation massage, but instead received a lecture about my body that was pretty condescending and anything but relaxing. I won't be coming back.

Too many other businesses out there that are responsive and care about new business. I called and emailed them several times over the course of 2 weeks and never received any replies. I attempted to visit the business in person but their limited hours made the difficult for my schedule. I ended up getting a full refund from Groupon and now I'm posting here and there to share my experience. I also attempted to book the appointment through their website, but after trying 2 different browsers I could not get their scheduler to work. Over all very disappointing.

She is hands down the best massage therapist I have ever had...and I've been to many places, frills to no frills, and Cindy is the real deal. She is incredibly talented and knows exactly where you have tension without even telling her. Her deep/therapeutic pressure is incredible and she always checks in with you to make sure you're comfortable. I would recommend Cindy a million times again and again, 10/10 always! She is amazing!

I added that I need very deep tissue massage. We discussed a couple of things related to my comments so she could get clarity. The pressure she used to start was close to what I needed. She did start extremely deep so I asked that she pull back very slightly.....she did so to perfection. I can see going back since it was very much worth the money spent on a 45 minute session. In my case it's around the corner from my place which makes this even more convenient. If you're coming into Boston and are in need of a massage, I would highly recommend Cindy for a massage. You'll be very glad you booked with her.

The workout facilities are top-notch, with many open machines and also a free weight section. The spot itself has luxury services, and while I did not partake in the massages and facials, my friends have and have said they are very relaxing and great for sore muscles. If you want a relaxing massage that is light, make sure to specify that, and if you want a deep tissue sports therapy massage, make sure to specify that too and it can be accommodated. So many 5 star reviews - REALLY???…read more My husband and I were looking for a mini retreat getaway and after taking a tour I booked a room and massage at the Intercontinental. I was anticipating a relaxing take me away massage for both of us and booked the couple room. I loved the idea of having my body turning to Jello, lay by the pool and have easy access to our room so we wouldn't have leave our tranquil state of being. "Not" That didn't happen. I was sadly disappointed. Having a couples massage is convenient because we are both there but other than that I don't feel it is worth the extra cost. I had a male and he had a female masseuse and we filled out the little questionnaire about where to find our kinks so they could work them out. Well, turns out it was the opposite. The areas we circled seemed to be skipped. I was really looking forward to my calves and footies worked on. I don't know the names of our masseuse. They weren't as professional as I had hoped. They were walking around giggling and whispering and carrying on scooting in and out of what felt like hiding places while we and some other guests waited in the center spa. The area has soft mood lighting and a nice ambiance and is very quiet so it was hard not to notice the interaction. We were waiting for our appointments while the 3 other guests had just had their appointments and were sipping water and snacking on dishes of fruit. The spa area has the look and feel but in the end it is the massage that counts and for the price it was not worth it. I am really sad that I won't be going back because I was so hoping this would be a win.

The massage itself wasn't impressive. The transitions between movements lacked fluidity, and she didn't check in to see if the pressure was okay. I would expect for her to ask since it was my first time here. After the session, I went to the front desk to pay and was informed that cash payments would be cheaper. However, I was uncomfortable with how they requested a tip. Overall, Relaxxa is clean and organized, but they could improve their customer service and attention to detail.

At the start of our session, Gigi asked me what my areas of concern were, but then as the massage progressed, she managed to find knots and tight spots that I didn't even know I had. She meticulously worked through every single knot and freed up the tension in my neck and back. Thank you, Gigi! Now I am on a mission to find someone similar, but I know the bar is very high. If you need a massage and are in the area, I highly recommend Gigi's services.

Extremely impressed and forever grateful for Gigi's excellent massage and overall service…read more It was a one hour long massage that was focused primarily on my back but she did my entire body. Before we begin she asked for my concerns and where I wanted her to focus. Gigi made sure to not give me a minute less than what I paid for even though I came in a few minutes late which I really appreciated. She used a light oil for the massage and then hot towels to wipe it off at the end. She also used warm pads to keep me cozy while she was massaging other areas. Gigi is friendly and kind, as well as knowledgeable and experienced-- she really knows what she is doing. I love that she stretched me out and bent my arms and legs in the right positions. Her massage is a great combination of firm but careful. I appreciate she is not like other masseuses that only gently knead and not really make a difference or those who only use their forearms and elbows making it painful. Her technique was perfect. This is by far the best massage I've ever received. I will make sure I get a massage by Gigi every month from now on. After just one session, I can move my head and neck more easily and I also realized just how much I needed this. She really cares and is a strong masseuse. For those new to getting a massage, I highly recommend Back Health Care Center. The price is very reasonable especially in comparison to the other places in the area. For reference I was an athlete all my life I go to the gym regularly and I work a desk job for over eight hours a day so I have a high standard and I was very pleased.

I repeated 3 times and she kept insisting that it was $55 so I paid and left. Also, before I leave she kept offering me and insisting that I buy the annual package which includes 6 massages. I refused that more than 5 times and she kept insisting, the only way I had to get rid of her was saying that I would go back there later to buy the package. *I called on Sunday to schedule an appointment and she scheduled for Tuesday at 11am. This was actually far from sketchy or that could mean I've just been to a lot of sketchier things hahahaha. I firmly believe in going to different schools for services like hair, skin, massage care...because hey why not support a future professional...they have to learn and practice and I don't mind paying less! It was easy to call and leave a message for my preferred date and time. I called in the morning and received a call back that afternoon (when there was clinic). There are limited days and hours that the students have clinic so keep that in mind. It worked out for me because luckily there are evening hours. Check in was easy and at the time of my service a 1 hour massage is listed as $40, no add ons available that I know of. You pay before starting. Josie was my student and she greeted me and asked if I had visited before. I had not so she gave me a brief rundown as she guided me to the changing area. It's a large dimly lit room with multiple massage beds. Relaxing spa music was playing which is great for potentially snoring or awkward breathing sounds which could occur. I was given a very large sheet which I appreciated as some other places I swear try to give me the smallest square of fabric possible, barely covering all the goodies....not an issue here though! I took of everything but my panties in order to need impede on her flow. She led me to her massage bed and I hopped on! She asked if there were any specific areas I would like addressed and I told her my lower back gets on/off tightness. I received a full body massage and always felt properly draped at all times. Pressure was applied and changed as needed on various body parts and she checked in with me to ask if I was ok multiple times. I had an amazing experience! I tipped her in cash after my service...so be sure to bring some cash for your student. My first time here and will definitely be back when I'm in the area! As with any service based school, of course your experience will vary depend on who services you but verbally everyone will have the basics down to be able to service you...I've not had any issues and hope the same for you LOL If you've read this far thanks! You're a real one :) Pro tip...upon opening the door to enter...there are stairs immediately leading DOWN....do not try to run in or you will definitely be eating some stairs...potentially looking like an awkward slow mo cartoon gone wrong.
