First, The ambiance was nice and calming, it looked like a small diner but with a fancier look, the TV had food network on and this is one thing I hate about restaurants with TV's and with food network. PLEASE TURN ON CLOSED CAPTIONING, I'm a person who enjoys the food network and I'd love to know what they're eating/making especially chopped and DDD. Second, The food I had was divided into 2 orders. First, the sushi was great. The sweet tofu skin was delicious, a little hard to eat if you can't fit it all in your mouth. The Tamago was OK . The white tuna was good, that's about it. Third This is the second part of my meal, the entree's. Their ginger salad dressing was superb I love it, The Miso soup didnt have much flavor to it to me it felt like it was watered down go have more servings. The main I ordered is the Salmon Katsu. Normally Katsu doesn't have too much flavor going for it, it's pretty much a battered and breaded piece of meat, so what makes the katsu stand out? It would be the sauce, and I was dissapointed in the sauce. it was too thick and tasted too sweet. I had better experiences dipping the katsu in the soy sauce. Also, their rice was too dry for my preference Fourth and Last. I did order carry out, I ordered shrimp and vegetable tempura, and like the katsu, the sauce can make the dish complete. and It was great, nice flavor and really completes the tempura experience. Overall: I gave this place 3 stars as it mean A-OK, the katsu sauce was disappointing, but I don't have high expectations whenever I order katsu from any restaurant. It's good sushi. And considering there are only a handful of places that serve in town anymore, I am on this like carbs on rice. Do yourself a favor and think about how hungry you really are, and do some math and see if what you want to eat is really cheaper than the all-you-can-eat levels. For me, there's one roll that I love at the highest level, but usually I just need that one, another roll and two nigiri and I am full without hating myself. So a la carte is better that way. And that roll, though? It's weird but really good. Tempura shrimp with mango and coconut. And unlike some other places, that piece of shrimp is still warm from the fryer. To me that is impressive. Drove from Champaign to try this place out. Went on a Sunday afternoon there were only a couple other tables occupied, service was quick. Order the deluxe all you can eat for about 26 dollars. Started with three rolls and and some sashimi. The sashimi pieces were huge and fresh. The rolls were big and delicious. Really liked the Godzilla roll, also they have salmon skin which is always a favorite of mine. For a place in a strip mall I was impressed and think I'll be making this 45 min drive more often. read more

Not since Akemi Ya's closed have I had such fresh sushi in town. Reading other reviews, I think there must have been some service changes because my dinner party of four had no wait to be served, the service was friendly, and the sushi flowed quickly and was delicious. My son had Chicken Fried Rice 11.99 and I had General Tso Chicken $8.50. The food was very good but I asked if I could have mine prepared "not spicy", the waitress indicated that I could. The GTC came with a very large piece of spicy pepper in the dish. It was good but too spicy for me. My son loved his fried rice and it had lots of vegetables. The egg roll was very good. The texture and quality of the sushi was not good. I asked to get my money back because i got physically ill she asked where the food was...? Then told me i needed a to go to the urgent care get a note stating it was their food.... so i have to spend hundreds at prompt care just to get $30 back. Every so often, I head back to BloNo for work. We like to go out as a group and this time we went to Yumz, which is fairly new. This place delivered! First, they didn't bat an eyelid at a large group reservation at lunch and had the tables set up for us. There are a lot of menu options: from sushi and sashimi to Mongolian beef and gyozas. The service was fast and efficient: they clearly know that people don't have time to wait too long at lunchtime. Everyone really enjoyed their food. I had the cucumber salad - which was different to what I was expecting (based on Thai cucumber salad) - as it had sesame seeds on it - which really worked! This is the worst service I've ever had. At least 3 other groups walked out before finishing. They didn't even refill our water glasses after we asked. First off, there is natural place to wait to be seated, you actually have to work 1/3 of the way through the place to find the wait station... We sat there for 10 minutes before anyone came and asked for drinks and another 10 minutes to take our order.. We than sat for 15-20 mins for them to bring a bowl of lettuce and 4 greasy and cold crabragoon.. While waiting I was hearing other conversations around us about food coming out cold after they had been sitting for upwards of 45 minutes and them delivering food to the tables one plate at a time, sometimes 10 minutes apart.. At around 1pm our first meal was delivered to the table.. After waiting another 10 minutes our 3rd meal was delivered and the orders were all messed up... Food was okay at best, nothing special.. We asked for our bills and we waited for 5 minutes and went back to cash register to find that our server was back washing dishes.. This was over our lunch hour, BLONO residents expect a little more for a place delivering lunchtime services.. In total we were gone 1hr and 50 minutes and we debated many times during our wait if we should cut our losses and go somewhere else. read more

The food and service is very good here. They've got an all you can eat option but it takes an advanced degree to figure out what's available at what time. My only complaint about the food is the rolls are bigger around but shorter than usual. That seems like a strange complaint until you try to smoosh each piece into your mouth. It's just too much. This my 3rd time at Yumz and I have to say I love it and the sushi is great. I recommend the Firefighter Roll as the presentation is on fire! I prefer not eating the endless sushi as I order more specialty nigiri that are not included in that endless pricing and I believe in quality over quantity. The hotetagai is a raw scallop mixed with spicy mayo and tobiko served in a cup of nori with a rice bottom. If you can't understand the terms I just wrote in my review then don't eat here. This is more for the serious Sushi crowd. Love the staff and remember them from other places here in town. Great food! Great service! Great location but can get pretty crowded. read more

I've been twice. The first was the week it opened. The waiter screwed up the orders so badly, that the manager felt obliged to comp my lunch. It wound up taking an hour and all I wound up getting was green tea and a salad. The soup never made it, neither did anything else I ordered. My lunchmate had his entire meal. I went again today, to give it another chance. The service is unforgivably slow, but I don't think it was the waitress this time. If you're claim to fame is ordering by the piece, then it has to be snappy. Waiting 15 minutes between orders, is just not acceptable. It took me an hour to get lunch, and that was just a few rolls and some appetizers. To top it off, the food just wasn't that good. There are better sushi places in town and they don't have serving issues like this place. The sad thing is this place has potential, but the execution is just not good. It wasn't until the owner told then to wait on me that they did. Regretfully, I spent $18 dollars at the establishment. The food was reasonably priced for two sushi rolls. I have eaten at Yumz twice now. I really feel for the price and the quality of the sushi, it's the best deal in town. The service was great. It's a different kind of experience with the 21.99 all you can eat sushi. If you go at lunch get there right at 11 or it will be packed. Yumz has quick service (fed us crab Rangoon, two sushi rolls, one chicken dish in under an hour), a friendly staff, and a nice interior. It's a bit overpriced, right on the borderline of what I'd feel comfortable paying. The food wasn't great but it wasn't bad, just not phenomenal. The main reason behind a three-star rating is due to the sushi lunch buffet. The buffet is $15, which is a bit more than I feel comfortable paying, but not outrageous. HOWEVER, Yumz charges you $0.25 for every single piece of sushi you do not eat. That defeats the whole purpose of a buffet! The "just fine" food and high prices, combined with this ridiculous policy, mean that I won't be back. read more

My friend and I had to wait a while before a host actually greeted us...and there was no one in front of us who came in before. Ok, first let me say that we've been to Yumz a few times and the sushi is absolutely amazing. The rainbow roll is by far my favorite, but it's all fantastic. I've never had a "dry" roll as one of the previous reviewers stated, but I guess it is plausible to catch a bad chef throughout the day. At any rate, our experience with the sushi has been top notch and will definitely keep going back for more. This place gets 5 stars for the sushi! Now, beyond the sushi... I would give it less than 1 star. The wait staff appears to be in a perpetual state of "dazed and confused" and you'll see what seems like dozens of staff walking past your table, but none of them are there for you. If you can manage to ignore the bad service, the seating is incredibly tight. So, if you like elbow room at your table, this restaurant is not for you. I had to put my winter coat on my lap on one visit because my hood was quite literally sitting on the table behind me. Not a good setup. We'll be back, but we always try to go during off-hours to avoid the lunch and dinner rush and eat quietly in peace with very few other people in there. read more

She said owners said can't leave any leftovers! They ended up charging another $2.00 onto bill after they got the credit card from my brother. I love their main dishes such as the black pepper beef and chicken teriyaki They are excellent ....and the won ton soup is wonderful. I didn't like the other soups and didn't care for the egg rolls. We are very excited that Blo-No has a good, decently priced sushi restaurant! We only had sushi and edamame, so I can't speak on the entree meals, but our food was great. Three rolls and edamame cost us $23. Each roll was around $6, but we didn't get anything crazy. Our server was very attentive and our water glasses were never close to being empty. (I think his name was Devin or Denis...) We chose not to do the all you can eat option because neither of us was planning to eat $21 worth of sushi.
