pork and chive dumplings
Adam Y.

Not sure if I just got a bad batch but the dumplings are VERY mushy in the middle to the point where i'm concerned if it's fully cooked. I've had this at the LIC location before and i don't recall them being like this. Eating it anyways cause i'm not letting midtown lunch prices go to waste

Stopped by for a quick takeout order. Very Casual inside with limited seating. Order by kiosk. Well laid out pick up counter with all you need. Tried the Taiwanese popcorn chicken which was delicious and fresh and each piece on the larger size. Had the pickled cabbage - crunchy and refreshing. Then the pork and chive dumplings which was already pre seasoned and pretty good. Service was fast and friendly.

Ordering was quite easy, you order on a kiosk and they will call your number when it's ready. And you would pick it up and choose your spot to sit if you're dining in. I went around maybe 3 pm on a weekday and it looks like some of their more popular items were already sold out. I got the beef noodle soup with a black milk tea with boba. The beef noodle soup was hearty and flavorful, I loved that the beef was tender, and there was quite a bit of it. This definitely hit the spot during the cold weather. The black milk tea was a bit too sweet for me, I wish I adjusted the sugar levels but the boba was soft and chewy which I enjoyed.

The restaurant is mostly self serviced with tablets where you can order your food. The menu selection is straightforward so I was able to get what I like and the portions and food taste were good.

A fast Taiwanese food joint with pretty limited seating. Two top outside, 5 window stools and a table with seating for 8 (communal). There is an area with a counter where you could stand and eat too. Maybe room for about 6-8. I think the focus here is take out or delivery orders. You order via tablet and they call your name. From order to receiving your food takes about 7-8 minutes so it's pretty fast. Service is nice and they are appreciative of their customers. We downed some assorted dumplings, fried chicken, edamame, a bowl of soup and some braised pork rice. This place really hit the spot for a quick good meal.

Picked up a chicken cutlet bento here and it was quite good. The chicken was tender and not super oily. The rice with the meat sauce was flavorful and delicious. Price is reasonable and portion size is big. Will definitely return to try their other offerings.

Storefront - soft opening

Welcome Yumpling to Midtown Manhattan! Today is the soft opening of Yumpling in Midtown Manhattan. This is their second store. First store is located in LIC. Yumpling created an eventbrite event to manage the audience since today is literally their 1st day of their soft opening. I was expecting it to be a little crazy though it was nicely managed. Employees were been trained while we were putting in our lunch order. I was craving their beef noodles even though their lu rou and dumplings were a must have. I put my order in the kiosks (there are 3), the cashier wasn't open today. I waited about 10 minutes for my order to be ready. There are a few kinks (timing between back of the house and when the order is ready) though I'm sure it will get worked out. There was a slight confusion when a name was called and 2 customers answered (though 1 customer jumped the food line unintentionally). The packaging is great... there is a separator from the soup and the dry ingredients so the noodles don't get water logged. Food is great and satisfying as the LIC location. Wondering if they have a screen so customers can check to see if the order is ready. So happy, Yumpling opened a location in Manhattan! Good Luck and Best Wishes! Can't wait to come back to try the other dishes.

Best new fast casual option in Midtown at the second location of the Taiwanese spot with so many delicious menu items. Obviously get dumplings, but the Lu Rou Fan is also amazing and the Fried Chicken Sandwich is one of the best in town, Currently only open for lunch during the week, so take advantage if you have to work in Midtown.

Crispy Chicken Bian Dang-

Super quick, friendly service with delicious food! One of the co-founders, Jeff, was behind the counter and had the best personality. We ordered the zhajiangmian, small order of Yumplings, and chicken Dan bing. The crispy chicken bian dang was phenomenal with the lu rou fan. I wish they gave slightly bigger portions of the sides. The pork and chive dumplings were bursting with flavor (highly highly recommend) but the chicken dumplings were lacking in flavor and texture. They also have canned drinks from Taiwan I'd recommend! The inside was well lit and spacious. Yumpling is a wonderful place for lunch!

The restaurant was clean and the staff was friendly, but the food did not taste Taiwanese. There's room for improvement.

I also ordered the coconut dessert, which was cancelled from my order because they were out. Sometimes when this happens, restaurants will call to suggest an alternative. I do wish they would have done this, but overall, a great experience.

We ordered three dishes that I had either enjoyed before or was familiar with: Wuxi Pork Ribs: The ribs were quite decent, tender and juicy, with a nicely balanced sauce. But there was nothing particularly memorable about them. The menu says the secret recipe has been passed down through generations for more than 110 years, but I found that claim hard to reconcile with what was on the plate. Slow-roast a slab of pork ribs for four hours at 250°F, I can get a very similar result at home. Famous Assorted Bowl: This used to be one of my favorite dishes here, and I ordered it almost every time I visited. Unfortunately, this time it was a real disappointment. The ingredients no longer tasted freshly prepared, well-seasoned, or flavorful. Instead, much of the dish had the bland, slightly lifeless quality of previously frozen food. Even the shrimp in the soup did not taste particularly fresh. Boiled Shredded Dry Bean Curd with Chicken and Shrimp: This is a classic Yangzhou dish and another item I used to order regularly. In the past, the bean-curd sheets were cut into extremely fine threads, with a soft and delicate texture that absorbed the flavor of the broth beautifully. This time was completely different. The bean-curd threads were hard and dry, with the texture of a packaged frozen product, and they had absorbed almost none of the broth's flavor. What had once been a delicate, carefully prepared dish now tasted surprisingly flat. Overall, Tipsy Shanghai used to be a restaurant I returned to for several specific dishes. However, both the quality of the ingredients and the care in preparation seem to have declined noticeably.

The restaurant itself is clean and well lit--a great place to stop by for a good, hearty meal. We ordered the Lanzhou Beef Noodle and Pork Hamburger. I really enjoyed both dishes. The noodles were cooked perfectly, and the beef was delicious. I will say that I wish the broth had more flavor, but it did feel light and clean. The pork hamburger came with a good amount of meat, which I appreciated. It was super juicy and flavorful. The service was quick and attentive, and I felt that the prices were reasonable. The place was exactly what we were looking for... Inexpensive, cozy and comfortable atmosphere! The place was a little busy, and didn't take reservations, but we were seated immediately. Amazing service and delicious food! The food was fresh and came out fast. Portions are generous, so you definitely won't leave hungry. My favorite dish was the Signature Lanzhou Beef Noodle Soup, which was delicious and flavorful, and also gluten free, dairy free and soy free. Others had something else I had no interest in to remember the name. Their menu has many options to offer, including gluten free, soy free, and dairy free options. We would come back again and highly recommend you check out this place if you are in Murray Hill Manhattan. My only complaint was that I noticed a male staff member leave the restroom without flushing the toilet, which took away from an otherwise positive dining experience.

The beef soup is clear and light and the noodles have a delightful texture, with a slight chew and good bounce. There's a good portion of braised beef as well. Tender but a bit fatty for my taste, but given the portion it's not going to kill you. Lamb burger ended up as overkill and will be consumed as leftovers but a quick sampling let me know that it's gamey and fatty with strong notes of cumin. Not a bad thing, but something to note for people that might not generally enjoy lamb or cumin. Black pepper beef rice bowl was solid too. Spice wise, you can calibrate accordingly but I'd recommended at least their regular spice level. Decent amount of tenderized but still chewy beef. Both dishes came with a salad of celery, carrot, cucumber, peanuts and seaweed strips in a light sauce. Couldn't quite figure out the sauce but it was lightly tart and refreshing. Space is clean and modern. Neutral wood, well lit. Service is friendly enough. If you dine in, you order at the kiosk and they'll deliver to your table. We had leftovers that they graciously packed up. Solid choice. I hope they stick around as they do bring a different cuisine to the area.

It would've been very easy to miss unless you're specifically looking for this place. Upon entering you're greeted by the numerous Michelin guides lol, front desk seated me pretty shortly after ensuring my seat was set, I was sat at the bar where they have a scan menu. Server immediately was attentive and filled my glass with some water. I was originally going to get the Dashi ramen but after I shared I'm allergic to shrimp the server felt it was a bit risky he was very careful so I appreciated that. I got the Tokyo ramen instead and a side of shishito peppers (he also omitted the Dashi JIC). It was happy hour so the appetizer was $7 I/o $8 and I also got an Asahi draft for $8. Ramen was $22. I was very surprised the server even asked about the oil the pork and peppers are fried in JIC of cross contamination - he shared that they use the same batch of oil as frying tempura (but I was ok with that but just watch out if you're like super super sensitive). Ramen: 7/10, decent bowl but not the best I've had. Feels a bit more Americanized and I prefer authentic Japanese ramen. Soup was rich, flavor but again it's one you can find at many other ramen shops in nyc. Noodle was a bit lackluster it was a bit soggy, not springy like freshly made ramen. The pork slices are flavorful but felt it's bit thin, I prefer a good cut...but personal preference. There's 2 thicker slices of marinated bamboo and half a jammy egg topped with scallions. Decent bowl but don't think it's worth $22. Shishito peppers: nicely fried. Well seasoned. 9/10 Overall - good spot for a decent bowl of ramen in the area. Environment: clean, nothing that caught my attention with design but just minimalist style, with black hard
