Overall: 4.2/5 I ordered on Postmates for lunch on a Monday and it delivered earlier than expected, less than 30 minutes total, so I was pretty surprised. The Dapan Niu ($18.70) with low spice and ribbon noodles is the original and recommended pairing and I can see why. The ribbon noodles are bouncy, delicious, and coat the beef stew really nicely. Most of the braised beef was tender though a few pieces needed just a little more cooking time. The low spice level wasn't spicy at all so if you like a kick I would go with medium next time. The only thing I would change is the giant bell pepper slices since I wish they would cut them into smaller pieces or strips. Overall this was really good and I was satisfied after eating just half the bowl. The Lychee Pekoe Black Tea ($3.30) is the perfect drink to wash down a heavy or umami forward meal. It's perfectly sweetened, refreshing, and affordable too. The Fragrant Shallot Sauce ($0.55) can be added as a topping on your dumplings or noodles but honestly it's not really needed. TL;DR - Casual Chinese noodle spot in Time Square area with Time Square pricing. Came here with some friends ahead of a movie nearby. Ordered the spicy cumin stir fry with the chopped ribbon noodles spicy heat (level 3) plus some Hot & Tangy Buddhas Veggies dumplings at medium heat (level 2). Food came out at a decent clip, but the noodles I received were legitimately not spicy at all. Cumin flavors were solid although I didn't find the noodles to have a particularly good bounciness. Asked the cashier about the noodle spice and they did over to remake it, but I was short on time so they ended up providing a dry spice I could add which was nice. Definitely added quite the kick! I ordered beef and barely found any beef in it which was disappointing. The dumplings themselves were fine. Pretty standard and nothing really to write home about. Overall, I wasn't super impressed by this spot and it was quite pricey. About $30 with tax for the noodles and 6pc of dumplings. We recently came here on a Saturday after catching a Broadway show in the area and were slightly disappointed in the noodles that we got. This was our first time trying the midtown location having been a fan of the Harlem location. We ordered the lamb hand pulled noodles and while it was okay it was not up to the standard that we were used to for a hand pulled noodle spot, especially compared to the Harlem location or their competition, Xi'ans. I can't quiet put my finger on it but it did not taste as fresh. Our orders were processed fairly quickly and the space itself is no frills. Judging by the rave reviews and the occasional negative review, my mediocre noodles could have just been that batch or related to a chef. The noodles are pretty pricy, for that small amount of noodle for around $14 if you dont have any add-ons. the noodle itself if you choose hand pull is $1, i thought the whole reason is to eat handpull, but it's a extra for it. speaking of handpull, it's not the same as 拉面，it's 扯面 a different type of handpull , thicker and not the thin and skillful handpull as lanzhou handpull noodle. the noodle is chewy and thick has a lot of texture. if you like lanzhou style of noodle, this is not the place for you. The noodles standard noodle comes in noodle that are packacked pre made noodle. not recomended. it also loaded with scallion and cilantro, I'm talking about A LOT. you can opt out any of those in the kiosk. you can choose your spicy level, if you like spicy you can choose the spicy leve high it's not too much. if you want to switch to lamb or other meat then it's another extra. it all adds up for this small bowl of noodle. the chicken wings are great. freshly fried whole wing it's decent price at $8.5 for four whole wings. the cumin dry rub was ok, not much cumin flavor and not spicy. I'm happy just have any wings. but want to try lomon curry next time. A friend and I decided to check this restaurant out for dinner on a chilly winter night after I told my friend I wanted something "hot and soupy." The first thing that you notice when you walk downstairs into the restaurant is the cheerful jazz, which is admittedly an interesting choice for a Chinese-style restaurant, but totally works somehow. Ordering is done with a touch screen on the wall, and we got an herbal beef noodle soup, lamb cumin noodles, and spicy and tangy dumplings. Even if you are a spice noob, it's okay because you can choose your spicy level (medium is not spicy at all). The lamb cumin was pretty good, but my friend would have preferred thinner slices of lamb. My herbal beef noodle soup definitely hit the "hot and soupy" spot and warmed me up after a long day. The dumpling were also juicy and delicious. One detraction is the fact you have to pay extra for their namesake handpulled noodle, while the lo mein and udon style noodles are included as part of the charge. Ordered the ribbon noodles traditional style and added jackfruit, medium spicy. I ordered for dine-in so I was pretty surprised when it came out in a takeout box. The noodles are thick, chewy, and add some good texture to the dish, but because of how thick it is I think this meal is better split into two. The noodles aren't too saucey and most of the flavor actually clings onto the veggies, but since this comes in a takeout container it's very difficult to mix and so I think it's a disservice that this doesn't come in a bowl instead. This was my first time trying jackfruit as a meat replacement and it was a pleasant contrast to the chewiness of the noodles. It's very soft and similar in texture and taste to artichokes.
