We came back with our family to celebrate my daughter's and my birthday. Yummy still deserves 5 stars because the food is delicious and the service is great...but, I was very disappointed with the foam bowls and the plastic forks that were given to eat in. Let's forget forget that it is terribly tacky because that is not nearly as important as the fact that it is such a waste. I understand that the plastic forks are to protect the surface of the BBQ but there has to be a more ecological and less tacky choice. I completely exceeded my carbon footprint for the day (yes, I realize that I was eating meat and that added a few more points to my carbon footprint). My not using a straw seemed like such a futile action. Please, stop using foam bowls and figure something different for the forks (in addition to the chopsticks). Also, it was great to see that the place was full but you need to get more help. Our server, Jeff, was awesome but he was running around like a chicken with its head cut off--serving tables, prepping food, helping people in the front, running bills... I hope everybody that he served left him a great tip because he is going to be exhausted by the end of the night, and he earned it. read more

Our first time there and love it! We ordered the tofu soup and bulgogi (and actually sushi but they forgot.) When you order bulgogi, they will also bring you a tray of veggies so you can pick what to add. The sides are free refilled and tastes really good. This is one of the best Korean barbecue I've been to and I have been to them all over the United States. The flavors are more consistently Korean and they have a wide variety of options to choose from. The service was exceptional. The owners are present and involved in the day-to-day happenings. AYCE places are something for your youth generally. When you can feed a teenage boy for one price, its not you that loses. Trust me, I have 3 of them. unfortunately, not only am i grown up, i am overgrown up, if you know what i mean. So the AYCE places change for me, and i rarely frequent them, i don't need the quantity over quality. Now the KBBQ AYCE is kind of a new phenomenon, and 9 times out of 10, i will pass for a real restaurant. Let me tell you about the 10th. Yummy's is clean, neat, modern, and classy, 4 adjectives you rarely see on the AYCE circuit, and the clientele is the same, ditto on the rarity scale. You can actually make eye contact and not feel like you are somewhere your mother would disapprove of. The decor is nice, and the tables, with the built-in grill are modern, and clean non stick tops which are nice. the slide out drawer gives you utensils, and napkins, which you are going to need. Wait staff is very busy, but good customer service, maybe they could use less tables to wait on per staff. Our waiter was kind, friendly and quick to point out items, explain the menu, and tried to keep up with some hungry people. Very willing to bring sample size portions to try before committing. Very appreciated. The food, was pretty darn good. They have a large a la carte menu, if you want to pretend you didn't come here for AYCE. The AYCE options for dinner are broken down into a $25 pp option and a $36 pp option. Even though it was our anniversary, we opted for the $25 menu, as it had most of what we wanted (except the KALBI darn it), the difference being the types of meats and rolls. you can ask them to cook it for you on some meats, or you can play iron chef, with the running commentary in your head, and do it yourself on the burner set it the table. Both options give you unlimited sides, and sauces. and they are pretty darn good about refilling. Here are the meats we tried along with the sides. 1) Bulgogi, (of course), 5 stars we chose to cook it ourselves. Tender, no gristle, and quick along with some good amount of sauce. we of course chose a lettuce side to get, because one of the pillars of heaven is supported by lettuce wrapped bulgogi meat. add a yummy onion flavored soy dipping sauce, some jalapenos and raw onions, and the angels reach down and try to steal some. 2) Garlic Chicken, 5 stars, one they cook for you, a battered Korean style fried chicken with a sesame sweet garlicky sauce. Right balance, here, which is not easy to get. We got one early on, and got another before we left, because an anniversary kiss tasting like korean garlic chicken is a bonus. 3) Pork Belly, 4 stars, one i cooked, not a blessed thing wrong with it,just not as good as the other two. Yes i fried uncured bacon and covered with it onion sauce and gochu-jang (another sauce i ordered), and yes i ate most of it. The wife conceded the final product was much superior in her mind then when she saw me put it on the grill, and kept trying to get me to order more to cook some for her. 4) Teriyaki chicken, 4 stars, also very good, and just outside the top two. Tender, moist, and flavorful. I cooked it, and managed not to ruin it. probably her favorite outside of the garlic chicken. 5) chicken katsu, 3 stars, not bad, although it was not hot when it came to us, cooked. if we had had it earlier in the meal when we were not starting to bloat, it may have gotten higher. the katsu sauce was fry sauce on steroids. once again, not bad at all, based upon the comparison with the stars of the lineup, this guy slides to the bottom of the pack. 6) God Bless America sushi roll. 3 1/2 stars Ok ok, get it off your chest, yes its a filler, and yes, its pretty good. The spicy crab, battered shrimp, and the sauce makes for a really good american style roll. 7) dragon roll, 3 1/2 stars, tasty almost the same ingredients, except the eel was REALLY good. the sides, all you can eat, keep them coming, here are some: 1) cucumber kimchi- 5 stars and then some. I think we ate like four sides of this popular banchan. I would have eaten a fifth if our waiter was faster. 2) cabbage kimchi- 5 stars, really good kimchi with that lovely umami, balance with crisp slightly wilted cabbage. 3) pickled perilla leaf. 4 stars, good, the only item they appeared a little stingy with. i love the taste in between bites of bulgogi 4) bean sprout salad- 3 stars, sad, wilted, and not enough sesame, 1st sign we were in an AYCE. only got one, only needed one. 5) japchae- 4 stars nicely seasoned tasty not gluey at all, wife and i both liked it. 6) gochu-jang. 4 stars properly thinned so you can use it as a sauce. 7) onion flavored soy sauce. 6 stars if the scale went that high. little tray of it with an onion slice and a jalapeno along with some dry toasted sea salt and black pepper, superb. waiter got tired of refilling and brought a bottle. is it worth it? wife and i debated, and yes it is, if i took my sons, or a special occasion for us. It's a nice looking place. People seem to be enjoying themselves. They don't have beer or wine available for dinner, so I won't be dining in. Considering the nice ACYE is going to set me back $100 a couple without alcohol, after tax and tip, I want the entire dinner experience. I went for the take-out. We got the not very garlicky Garlic Chicken, and the Kalbi. We both got the soy potatoes and pot stickers. Both of the sides were excellent. It made a nice meal. I know nothing about Korean food, but it seems a lot like our Thai food in the area. Way too sweet to be authentically spiced. That said both proteins were pretty good. read more

It was legit Korean bbq place! The quality of the meat was good and all of their menu tasted like authentic Korean food. I love how they also have the exact same table sets from South Korea; drawer with utensils and tissues haha. Their pork belly had really good cut, not too much of fat compare to other bbq places around here. All of side dishes were delicious and garlic chicken is a must try! I also loved chicken katsu, it was so light and crunchy, however thousand island sauce was not a good combination for it. I think regular Korean donkatsu sauce or even Japanese donkatsu sauce will do better. Or even a Korean or Japanese curry sauce. Couple things I wish they had: 1. Small portion of doenjang jjigae or kimchi jjigae for bbq orders 2. Dingdong bell for more authentic experience haha read more

This would be a fun place to take a date if you're looking for a unique dining experience. The decor is inviting and it's quiet enough to have an intimate conversation. I'm not sure I love the experience of having to cook your own food, especially at a place with higher-than-average prices for dinner but I know a lot of people dig this sort of thing. I love to cook but when I go out, I enjoy having the chef wow me with something instead of handing me raw meat that I need to grill myself. Our server was very nice and guided us to the most popular items with varying results. I really liked their homemade kimchi. A nice spicy bite to it. My favorite of the Korean BBQ meats was the beef with a deep flavor and nice glaze that tasted like it had been marinated for a long time prior to us cooking it. The garlic chicken was quite good as well. I know the name of the place says BBQ "and" Sushi but do not get the sushi, it's really disappointing (not fresh-tasting, over-sauced, dry). Great new addition to the Korean options in the valley. I love the cook at the table concept, it is something that we've been missing here. Generally speaking, the menu is a little smaller than some of my other favorite Korean restaurants, but they have all of the classics. Happily surprised! My daughter and I enjoyed a family style meal tonight. The pictures will show you can grill your selections to your personal preference. The ambience feels like Asia - right down to authentic Korean tables & grill. We loved the Kalbi (thinly sliced and marinated beef short ribs) and Garlic Chicken! The sides that come with the meal include three types of Kimchi, Macaroni Salad and Potato Jorim. We even shared the Korean dessert - a pancake with ice cream and fruit with chocolate sauce and cinnamon - it was a great finish! read more

It first started by going to their Provo location, but once they opened up their Orem location we started to go there. My wife and I love this place and the people. It's family run and owned and the staff are very friendly and the prices are just right. At this location they don't offer Kalbi, but they will soon offer it later on. At this location they do have sushi rolls, which are amazing. The food and service are top notch. The only thing I would suggest them fixing is having more different types of sushi like nigiri and obviously Kalbi. But I'm sure they will have all of these later on. I would recommend this place to anyone who wants a quick bite or something that isn't really pricey. read more

Yea yea I know, since when do you pay $24 for dinner? I get it, but trust me, you have to try this just once. It's such a fun and delicious experience. Yummys is FANTASTIC for large groups! We had a group of 16 people, and they put us in a separate room for no extra charge! The waiters were extremely attentive and accommodating, they literally came by every 3 minutes, which was perfect because we were constantly devouring and ordering more dishes. My favorite location so far is the Yummy's on University. I really enjoy Yummys as a franchise. I have eaten there many times before. This place had good food and fast, the reason for the 3 stars is the food was good, just not great or something to write home about. It was about as any other run of the mill bbq, good just not great or something to stand in line or to wait for as we did when we arrived. Wait time was about half an hr and it didn't seem that full and all tables weren't taken. Prob a staffing issue. Once seated it took a while for the server to get to us and refilling our order was another wait of its own. I don't mind the waiting if the food was amazing but it was just the basic goods that you would get at any bbq. The place was clean and the attitude and mood of the place was relaxed and not too crazy or unorganized. So I go to my trusty Yelp for a restaurant that delivers. I was unable in the app to select the 2 sides that came with one of the dishes. I noted as such in the 'special notes' area. Yummy's provides meat for bbq in good quality! We love the thin sliced beef and the pork belly was MASSIVE! We think it is great value for the money we spent. It's great for bring kids there since you do bbq yourself and can control how much seasoning you put on the meat. The sushi rolls, however, is only 3 out of 5 star. The rice was soggy and stuck to the plates. It was also not constructed very well. When I picked one piece up with my chopsticks, it just fell apart... BBQ part was great though. Sushi? Kinda disappointed. Service wise? I wish there were more servers. It's all you can eat and the waiters bring you the food as you order, but there weren't enough waiters. They took a long time to bring us the items we order. The restaurant was only half full that night, but there were only two waiters to serve everyone. I felt bad for them. Bring the family for dessert!! I love Hotteok. I'm from the Los Angeles area, and my family and I dine at Korean BBQ often. We have yet to find hotteok (a Korean street food) at our favorite Korean restaurants. This hotteok would be delicious on its own, but Yummy's presents the pancake with ice cream and fresh fruit and a drizzle of chocolate sauce. So skip the more mainstream tempura ice cream (although it may be just as delicious), and order Rachel's handmade hotteok!! Cooking the bulgogi meat and vegetables right in front of us was very "yummy". We also had meat jun one of my favorites. The kimchi and sides were very tasty. I came here with my husband for a Friday night date. We got the all you can eat sushi and bbq, version B because we wanted to try the things in the B menu: a Philly roll, a Vegas roll, and the BBQ short ribs. They were all pretty good. We also got the teriyaki chicken, garlic chicken, beef bulgogi, spicy beef bulgogi, and chicken Katsu. In order to try everything, after our initial order, we asked our server to give us half portions of everything else. Out of all of it, the beef bulgogi and garlic chicken were my favorite, so I will probably get the A menu next time. Service was really good. The side dishes were good too. Someone came around with vegetables and pineapple to put on the grill, and someone came and switched out our dirty grill plate with a new one at one point. We didn't wait long for food. The best thing on the menu is the garlic chicken. The kbbq itself is pretty bland and flavorless compared to other spots like KOU. The sushi is very lacking and service was sooo slow (although our server seemed to be slower than the other servers around us). Would definitely go into SLC for better and cheaper options. My wife and I decided to try this restaurant based on the yelp reviews, and unfortunately we were let down. The sushi was somewhat warm and not very well prepared. It left us very unimpressed and wishing we would've gone somewhere else. It seems like what this restaurant lacks in quality they attempt to make up for in quantity. Where they are known for their all you can eat menu. Which is some thing that we did not do, and therefore we were left unimpressed. Went to Yummy's for lunch on Saturday and it was surprisingly really good! I'm from an area in California that has a ton of KBBQ options that are absolutely amazing so my expectations are pretty high. The lunch was really good. All of the different side dishes went really well with what we ordered. I'd say the only thing out of the side dishes we didn't eat was the mac salad and the regular napa cabbage kimchi. We didn't eat the Mac salad not because it wasn't good (it tasted fine), but because it didn't seem to go well with what we ordered and it's not a typical thing you can get from a KBBQ restaurant. We didn't eat the regular kimchi solely because they did not have it. They had two other types of kimchi that were really yummy so I'm sure their regular kimchi is really good as well. I've tried another KBBQ place here in town and Yummy's by far my favorite KBBQ spot in town. The other one I went to was Ombu. The only thing good at Ombu is the potstickers. The sushi looked alright. I think I'll try it next time. At Yummy's, you can easily adjust the temperature of the grill (if needed) and they even help cook the food for you if you haven't been there before. Our waitress was super nice and attentive. She brought us extra side dishes. She was very talkative and just overall an awesome person. The reason why I didn't give this place 5 stars is only because I've had absolutely amazing KBBQ back home in California. This place is really really good though! Definitely a spot to check out. I think I'm going to bring my husband here this next weekend for our anniversary. Update: I forgot to add that you can't really tell that they tried too hard to social distance the tables but if that doesn't bother you a whole lot, it's perfectly fine. We really enjoyed our experience here. We made a reservation for a Saturday evening. Based on some of the reviews I was a little concerned, and was pleasantly surprised. The food was so delicious and fresh. We did the all you can eat. The sides were fresh and delicious and our waitress brought our refills quickly when asked. The meat was seasoned well and the sauce that came with had great flavor. It was a busy Saturday evening and we received great service. My drink was always full and we had what we needed. Near the end of our meal we ordered Katsu and garlic chicken, which are cooked in the kitchen. If you're a DoorDash driver DON'T take orders from here, you'll be waiting at least 15-20 minutes past your pickup time. Food is mediocre at best. We stumbled in here on a Saturday afternoon while visiting a friend in Orem with the aim of trying something new. We enjoyed quite the experience. You have the option of ordering individual dishes or an all you can eat choice where you then choose which dishes they bring out to you so you can try them all, or lots of a few. At $25 for all you can eat dinner We opted for the individual dishes. Garlic Chicken, Vegas Sushi Roll, and Brisket. The dishes came with five sides which were refillable; cabbages, sprouts, potatoes, and pasta salad. We loved the pasta salad and wanted more and more. Potatoes were good too and the veggies we ok, not because of the restaurant, just because the kimchi taste is not our favorite, but part of the experience. We cooked the brisket at our table and dipped it into the house soy sauce, which we love. This method made the brisket juicy and tasty. The brisket isn't seasoned so it needs a little something like the provided soy sauce and salt. I loved the soy sauce too. I don't like soy sauce, but their sauce is a sweet soy sauce and less salty, though they have fancy sat you can add in. My wife was looking for a Korean BBQ in SLC because she wants to go back but Orem is quite a trip just for dinner. We may go back for a Saturday lunch and try the all you can eat at $18.
