I took a chance and ordered from this restaurant for the first time today, instead of my usual place. It will be the last time. I NEVER leave negative reviews. I usually chalk it up to experience. On July 4th - after a very long day at the beach I wasn't about to cook. I ordered the "fried chicken wings over plain fried rice" and the "house special lowmein" using DoorDash. To my surprise the chicken wasn't dry! This is shocking and I'll explain later. Moving onto the fried rice - double whammy -- this wasn't dry either -- I felt like someone was pulling a prank on me. Then I opened the lowmein and it was packed with lots of shrimp, chicken, and roast pork - imagine my shock but hey - it's 2020 - anything can happen. I've fried chicken wings from Chinese before and it's usually dry but when it's all a 10 yr old would eat I wasn't about to argue but this place converted me. I'm giving this place 4 stars cuz there's a lack of good Chinese fast food places in the area. It's a solid 3.5 stars for sure. This place is much cleaner than your typical take out place so that's a plus. Not everything is great but the lo mein is usually pretty good. The fried chicken wings were excellent. They were so freakin crispy. They're small and I'm totally okay with that. Chickens aren't supposed to be massive unless they've been injected with tons of hormones. The fried rice could really use more wok hei, I'm totally okay with using less sodium but I really want that flavor. When tons of restaurants and businesses were closed cuz of Covid, this restaurant stayed open. I am a big sushi lover so when it comes to traditional Chinese restaurants that offer fresh homemade sushi then I can never pass up the opportunity to try it. Please PLEASE do not order the Ramen. Don't disappoint yourself like that. That was the worst example of ramen that I have ever ever experienced. Noodles? Soggy and soft. Broth? Weak, unseasoned and more like regular soup. Chicken and shrimp? Pale and mealy. The only good things about it were the hard boiled egg and the container it came in (great to store other leftovers) Supposed to be spicy - not even a little. I was SO sad. My partner couldn't finish it because of how oily it was. -Chicken wings and French fries I ordered it EXTRA crispy and they didn't do it that way. So it turned me off. My son ate it but it wasn't doing it for me. -Pork dumplings was good. Had a nice sear that made the dumplings crunchy but still soft. -Kani salad had a lot of crunch on top but not nearly enough dressing. The salad was dry, I had 3 chapstick bites and threw the rest out. -Spicy Crab roll was not spicy at all which is what I asked for and it tasted good. -Sweet Heart roll was delicious except it didn't have any cucumber and it came in seaweed (I asked not to have the soy pepper(don't know what that is)) Overall it got 2 stars because it was subpar. I ordered the Nabe Yaki Udon soup, with a side of fried noodles and fortune cookies and my brother picked it up for me. I was pleased with the portion sizes of eveything. Yes, the broth was flavorless as someone else has said previously about their ramen but that was nothing a couple drops of sauce didn't fix for me (I added the soy sauce packet they gave and also my own special sauce at home). This was decent since I don't eat out often to begin with let alone during these times when little was open. This was my treat to myself and did its job satisfying my hunger and cravings at a time when I couldn't step away from my work at home. For the price, though, if it were somewhere I ate more often, I would definitely stick to less expensive menu items next time and see how those go. read more
