We didn't want hibachi because we saw how scared my brother got when we went to Danny's right up the street in the past... we were sitting at a regular table, but as soon as the hibachi guy got up to the massive flames part of the performance, my bro almost crapped himself. So we wanted a regular table, but downstairs at Hagane they only have hibachi. The stairs going up to regular tables looked too difficult, so we asked if they could do a "toned-down" hibachi with no fire. They accommodated us perfectly and my brother was fine. The noodles, the beef, the shrimp... ask was really very good, especially with the ginger based sauce and the mustard based sauce (which isn't really that spicy... it was perfect). I also had a Lychee Slushy which was worth the $6. The ONLY thing that sucked was the cold blowing in on us at the table near the door. And this place has double doors. Came here to take my dad out for his birthday. We live near by and never tried it. It was pretty good. I'm not a huge habachi fan but we did all enjoy it. Not much of a show. They didn't do the toss rice in your mouth shenanigans other places usually do. I kind of wish they did though because it's been years since my daughter has been to a habachi restaurant. I stopped by on a Saturday around 6 PM and was seated right away no reservations needed. The hibachi experience was a classic case with the usual fun tricks and plenty of food. I ordered the chicken and salmon, expecting the standard fried rice and veggies, but the chef surprised us with noodles as well, which was a nice bonus. The space is intimate, with only about four hibachi grills, so it is perfect for a quick, casual date or a family night out. Keep in mind, you'll need to order at least two hibachi meals if you're going for the grill experience. The warm service and tasty food make for a pleasant moment with friends. Hagane was super cool and one thing about this place is that they gave excellent excellent customer service and I was there for it. We came through as a party of 4 on a late Saturday evening, and were seated within 15 minutes of arriving. After taking our names we were seated upstairs in the waiting area which was kind of cold. I'm not sure why the temp was so low upstairs but I think it may have something to do with the fact that it's already very warm downstairs with the cooking (perhaps the upstairs was to balance it out ) and also where the fresh sushi is kept. Anyway after waiting, we were seated downstairs at the table. There was another party of about five or six who were seated at the same table/section as us. The waiter took our orders and was really nice and detailed in answering all of the questions we had about the food. We ordered entrees and each entree came with a salad, soup and the actual meal. The salad and soup were great starters before our food. So the chef comes out and his hand game is crazy. The way he was chopping up the onions, the veggies and the eggs with such precision was bananas. He was really good and I loved watching him cook everything right in front of us. He had a straight face and was really and truly focused. The only thing that was missing is he could have been a little, nah actually a lot more engaging. Like a whole lot. That would've made so much of a difference. Also, it would be dope if they offered Japanese beverages. Lastly, the host was the best. She really did the thing with her excellent customer service that came with a smile from the time we came in until the time we left. Loved the service and the ambiance was just okay. I just came out here for hibachi, yesterday. Honestly I've passed this place a multitude of times and didn't think anything, but decided to give it a shot. I'm no expert in hibachi, but here's my honest & humble review. So first off, the hibachi area is definitely on the smaller side with only 3 tables. We went in and were seated immediately. We looked at the menu and it was the standard options, chicken, lobster, salmon, steak, etc; I ordered a Thai iced Tea boba, but that wasn't my best decision. The tea itself was good, but the boba and jellies were rock hard, not soft and gummy. The food was okay? Nothing to be wowed about, given that there was no yum yum sauce, the one staple of ever hibachi restaurant. I was however offered ginger and garlic ?? Portions were large, and we definitely had to pack food for home, but it was decent. I wouldn't go out of my way to come back, but if I'm on crossbay craving hibachi I'd stop by. read more

Hagane is a really solid choice for Hibachi. It is a smaller restaurant and I feel that works to your advantage as a customer because you get more individual attention. They offer the usual hibachi options (chicken, shrimp, steak, filet mignon, salmon, etc. and combo platters) as well as some Sushi and appetizers from the kitchen. The Hibachi chefs are entertaining, they cook the food just to your liking (my filet was perfectly medium rare and the salmon was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside) and relatively quickly. I got the filet mignon and salmon platter. The hibachi comes with onion soup and salad with the orange ginger dressing, noodles and rice (white or fried), 2 shrimp, and mixed veggies. I liked that the veggies were a whole medley including broccoli. I love coming to Hibachi places like Hagane with friends or family for a dinner celebration. The only thing I could think they could add would be the Sake fountains that chefs often do at other places and more drink options. This place was ok. I wouldn't go back here. My sister picked this restaurant for dinner after we left the beach. It was on the way home. We ended up here because of the reviews, but neither of us was impressed. There was no one in the two story restaurant when we arrived. They walked us upstairs to the back corner. It was super desolate and strange. The vibe upstairs was really different than the first floor. It seemed like we were in an empty hotel - and we also were away from all of the wait staff. Sad attempt at being vegetarian friendly and very rude customer service. I ordered hibachi vegetables for delivery and received a bunch of steamed vegetables with no sauce. When I called to bring the issue up, they stated that their hibachi vegetables is just steamed vegetables without any sauce. Now this isn't my first rodeo. I've ordered hibachi vegetables several times. Never in my lifetime have I ever received steamed vegetables as a hibachi dish. I didn't even get any sauce to pour over my bland vegetables. We went around 1pm on a Wednesday. There was no one dining in on the first floor. We were served salad with the classic yummy Japanese dressing. We did the Hibachi Lunch Special, your choice of meat with noodles, veggies and fried rice. I got shrimp (which was yummy) and my boyfriend got steak (which he enjoyed well done). The food tricks were cool, nothing too exciting but still cool. We ordered green apple and mango martinis, which tasted okay. The food was good. The service was good. Parking was convenient. The entertainment was short and the food was very tasty. Free refills on soft drinks, they even had sweet tea. Mango martini's seemed to be the drink of the evening. I had salmon and shrimp. The chef served the salmon last. It was cooked to perfection and seasoned very nicely. I wanted to eat it all in one shot, but l knew it would make a nice midnight snack or very tasty breakfast. This is a regular spot for my wife and I. As far as quality, portion size, and value go, you're not going to find a better spot in the area. The food is consistently good and of such a portion size at such a good price that we just can't stop coming back. Usually, we will order the hibachi chicken/steak mix platter for one and share that, as well as the dinner roll combo (which allows you to combine 3 regular rolls for a reduced price at a total of 18 pieces of sushi. The amount of food they give for just the platter is more than enough for the both of us and we manage to get out of there stuffed and satisfied under $25; often taking food home with us. Come on people. You can't beat that. Also, they do takeout! For delivery, hit up seamless or grubhub. Their dinner plates come with a small salad and soup prior to the main course. The meats are always cooked juicy and tender, and the vegetables are cooked right with good flavor. We have had some bad experiences with rude service in the past, but I believe those persons were outside hires that no longer work there anymore, as we have not seen them around recently. The owners and regulars who we see there all the time are always very nice, polite, and prompt. BE ADVISED: There are large hibachi grills downstairs that will seat about 10 around (and are open to the public if a large group is not around them) but if you want to eat there you are required to order off the hibachi menu. If you want to have something that is not on the hibachi menu, you will have to sit upstairs at the tables in the sushi bar area. Speaking of which, there is a sushi bar upstairs. You can sit at the bar, but there is limited seating. There are several comfy table/booths upstairs that we typically sit at. Also, there is usually a significant amount of parking available on the main street (muni) and the side streets (free) so parking should not be a problem. All in all, we love this place. He was entertaining and the food was really good! I enjoyed the fried rice and shrimp(which was fully cooked). My sister's scallops were roasted with a juicy smoky smell. Mmmm delish! The quality of the food was decent! Sashimi were thick cut and fresh. The rolls were decent as well. The original bill came up to $53 ($49+$2+$2). Have been meaning to write this review for a while. My son's birthday was back in march and my wife asked him what he wanted for his 10th birthday. He said he wanted to take some of his friends to Hibachi. My wife called Hagane to see if they could take a reservation. They said they don't do that. Mind you my wife was calling them from the hospital which she had been admitted to. She spoke to the owner who relented and said that he would do it for her. She was happy and he was happy. Day of his birthday he was so excited. We walk around to the entrance of the restaurant with all of his friends and it was closed. Sign on the door said it was closed. I saw a gentleman on the side of the building. He said they were closed for maintenance that he was doing. I just don't understand why they couldn't take the time out to let my wife know what was going on. If Danny's hadn't been gracious enough to help us out. I came to this place to celebrate my sons 16 birthday. My son wanted habachi and the place was recommended by a friend. We were a total of 11 people. We ordered 9 adult orders and 2 kids orders. The food was barely enough literally. We went out to another location after leaving here. I will say there was a couple that shared the space with us whom were there first and their portions were much larger than ours.
