I LOVE THIS PLACE SO MUCH!!! Every time I stop in for a bite, I say a quiet prayer for the health of the owners as I can visibly notice that they are aging from one visit to the next. This couple has been feeding me for 30+ yrs starting from my university days. Nostalgia is real whenever I speak with the aging owner while waiting for my food and I am honestly so surprised that he still recognizes me after all these years. I love their spicy bbq (beef, chicken and pork) with pork being my favourite. I am always amazed at how skilfully they can prepare such quality Korean food from a tiny food court kitchen. The meat is so well seasoned in a balanced marinade (not too sweet just the way I love it) and comes in huge portions alongside 2 perfect scoops of rice. Accompanying banchans always knock it out of the park and I love that they still go out of their way to prepare the pan-braised tofu dish. They're one of the reliable Korean restaurants, serving tasty and consistently great food since 1994. In 1994 the sitcom F*R*I*E*N*D*S was on TV and the charmingly loveable character Joey was big on the "How you doin'?" pickup line. That's almost 30 years ago, the same amount of time Yummy B-B-Q has been perfecting their menu. Pick a number, don't be shy. All of their food is delicious! This time around I opted for a few items. I woke up craving pork cutlet, so that was a no brainer to order. It came with two scoops of rice, was light, crispy and tasty. Next I ordered BBQ Beef and asked for it to be made spicy. That also came with two scoops of rice and side dishes of kimchi and tofu. Finally I ordered a Seafood Pancake which literally was the finest work of art, it was so colourful, filled with so many veggies and yummy seafood. It came with a dipping sauce which I poured over the pieces. Perfection in a box! Undeniably hardcore, so please order by "order number" for accuracy. Some might be familiar with Yummy BBQ's previous downtown incarnations, which used to be located on Yonge St near Maitland, but they moved 2 years ago to this new location inside a food court off of Don Mills on Mallard Rd. We have found them! I remember when I was in uni, we'd trek to Yonge and Wellesley wherethey were once located and scarf down on delicious Korean for a very reasonable price. When they closed down, someone told me they moved to Ktown but I never ventured that way. My fiancé told me he remembered them when they were at Dundas west before that... Needless to say, when we came across this small food court, they weren't open but we knew we'd be back. Today was that day. I'm slightly sad they're here because the traffic in the plaza is quite minimal. Either way we were excited to discover they are the original and we ordered the Yummy special. Freshly made, For $20 it was more than enough for two. It's definitely "down to earth" and there will almost always be seating (I'm guessing...I don't work in the area so maybe they're busier during the work week?) Saw the good reviews and needed to check this place out as it's close to the office as well. Located in a new food court, with half the stalls still emtpy, so it's easy to find seating. Ordered the grilled short ribs, which you can then specify whether you want it spicy or not. It also comes with a few of the Korean side dishes. The food was great! Very flavourful. Hidden gem in food court! Heard a lot of good things from our friends, so we decided to give it a try. We ordered lunch special - BBQ rib, and the spicy rice cake with beef. Lunch special comes with 2 side dishes. Ribs is very tender, very tasty. Sauce is amazing too. Two side dishes were good too. Spicy rice cake is amazeballs. Usually rice cake is covered with gochujang (apology for misspelling / mispronouncing), but this ricecake is covered with special sauce along with brocolli, beef and some cabbage. Service is okay, very straightforward but I know I come for the food. Husband was not a big korean food fan before but he said this is definitely his favourite from now on. That says a lot! The food here is really good. I highly recommend the meat platter that is for 2 people. It had lots of meat and it comes with dumplings, fried vegetables, and rice. Big boxes of food. Good quality. Reasonable prices. Not the best English, but we'll muddle through. P.S. This is in the food court next to the LA Fitness. It's nice and quiet. Got the BBQ Short Ribs (kalbi) combo for $13. It came in a large square takeout box and was quite heavy. There was a lot of rice, but there was also a very generous amount of kalbi. You could taste the grilling on the kalbi, so this isn't pan fried fake stuff. This is the real deal. And more of it than I've ever seen in a takeout box before. It also came with two slices of pan fried tofu covered in soy sauce and small bits of chilis, a small side of japchae which my brother was a huge fan of (he doesn't usually like japchae much), a small container of kimchi, and a small container of pickled radish slivers that were surprisingly gingery. They have another special I'm thinking of getting the next time I go. It's called the Yummy Special and it's got short ribs, beef, and chicken, egg battered zucchini, 2 scoops of rice, and 2 pieces of fried dumpling for $20. I'm sure it'll be way more food than 2 people can eat. Side note: They also have lunch specials. Stirfried chicken, beef, pork, or veggie and rice = $6.25. Meat is fall off the bone, and the soup is so flavorful, it doesn't need to be spicy to taste good. Out of the eateries where I've eaten pork bone soup, Yummy BBQ does it the best. My partner's cold mixed noodle with beef was tasty, with nice texture. A bit of spinach was nice in there too! Portion sizes are big for good price. We also love that when my partner and I went today, the food court was kind of empty, and we could eat in peace and quiet, unlike some restaurants where it's crowded, noisy, and we feel rushed. This place was popping even during Toronto lockdown! Many takeout orders coming and going. It is run by this couple so they were extremely busy; they kept insisting to pay later until after we got our food, which was unusual for me! I guess they're handling food plus money so they want to separate that out more ? I ordered kimchi fried rice and kimchi pork stew, I was feeling a bit piggy :) the portions are very very big for the price so you get a lot of bang for your buck! I got radish and tofu side dish, everyone raves the tofu side dish is great and they are correct :) the kimchi fried rice was a bit greasy but still good. The kimchi stew was super hearty and had tons in it so I was pleased. I know they're known for bbq and I tried one short rib which was good but I prefer the stews and soups of Korean cooking. If I wanted to try bbq I would come back here but this location is a bit far for me so I wouldn't drive out of my way to return. But I can definitely tell they're great at what they do for it to be so popular!! read more

Experience is always bad but I have previously put up with the grumpy old man who basically gives me crap every time I order food. "Why you come so early?" "Don't pre-order online...I then need to check and then everyone has to wait because of your order!" He basically can't shut up and keeps on voicing his displeasure about things that are his fault. I was happy to wait and did not rush him. And if you don't want people to pre-order...don't offer that service! And your poor organization skills are not my fault. If anything, pre-orders would make order flow more fluid. Not the sharpest tool in the shed , but a tool nonetheless. Anyhow, I am a repeat customer (never again), but frankly I've had enough. He gave me a wrong order for the pork bone soup with rice. I called him to replace it as I can't eat spicy. Anyhow, he disputed my order so good thing I did it online and said look at the receipt. Then he made one last attempt to shift blame to me which ultimately failed. So I drive back and bring back the soup and rice I had put into the soup...so I ask him for another rice as well as it's included in the meal. He then says no rice you ate some of the food. We had dumped the soup into 2 bowls and started eating...how else would we know it was spicy unless we started to eat it? Anyhow, they F&$&ed up my order, I had to drive back, and now the guy is giving me more s$&t!?!? Ridiculous and won't be going back! Probably the best Korean food, I live across from Owl and the food isn't as flavourful as this place! Great price for a generous portion. Don't be thrown off by first impression because you will miss out on yummy food! At first, the elderly man wasn't so friendly, but I work close by and after a few visits, he smiles and make jokes. I have been eating Yummy for about 20 years. They had a location on Yonge near Wellesley (maybe still there, I'm not doing research) and another near Bloor and Bathurst. Again, no idea if those locations or others are around but I have been reacquainted with Yummy through one of the delivery apps. It's just as good as I remember. It's authentic. Not fancy and certainly not trying to draw you in with new fusion ideas. Case in point: kimchi chigae (stew). This would be a staple in most Korean families and not likely something they would order at a restaurant (unless they were away from home and missing it). I'm not Korean but I lived there and grew very fond of this soup. Rarely does a restaurant do it right. Yummy is the exception. It's basically stewed kimchi with pork and tofu. Done correctly, the broth is deep and rich, spicy and tangy. Yummy's version is of my non-existent Korean mom let the soup gurgle away for a day or two on low heat. It's perfect. The Gamja tang (pork bone soup) is very good and worth a try but my go-to in this realm remains Mama Chef in Bloor K-town. The euk-gae jang (spicy beef brisket w veggies?) is top shelf and usually ordered with the kimchi chigae at my house. No idea what the restaurant is like but if you're craving Korean delivery you can't go wrong with this place. read more

I was looking at the menu and this elderly man came out of the kitchen and straight up said "what?!" a "hello" would've sufficed. We were looking to order dinner from Skip the Dishes and we were craving Korean food. Fiancé stumbled upon a family owned place called Yummy B-B-Q and omg, it was definitely more than yummy. We got the Yummy Special, which includes beef bulgogi, chicken, short ribs, rice, vegetable tempura and dumplings. You can ask for how spicy you want the spices to be - mild was perfect. We also ordered spicy beef soup, which also came with rice on the side and also ordered an extra side of short ribs. All orders come with Korean side dishes, varies from day to day. They have kimchi, radish, pickled cucumbers, and tofu - all home made and delicious!! Portions are great and the price is good. We've already eaten here a few times in the past month already. Definitely our new go to Korean spot. They are located across LA Fitness, on Mallard Road in a newly opened plaza. They don't have a solo restaurant, but part of a food court, so plenty of space to sit and dine. We always do take out though, now that we've found out how close it is to our place. read more

There was nothing terribly wrong, but nothing particularly great either. They have a large menu, but it's a small place and they make everything from scratch, so it's slower than you'd expect from a food court. So much so that when we showed up as a group in a moderately quiet food court, the counter-person (owner, I assume) warned us that food would be 15-20 minutes, and discouraged us from ordering anything other than lunch specials, suggesting that everything else would take too long. That meant that many of the things I had planned to get were no longer options. We ended up getting five lunch specials, all of which were steamed rice, a meat, an occasional vegetable, and the same sauce (or at least one that none of us could tell apart) on each plate. That meant that although we ordered five dishes, they were mostly different in terms of texture. It felt like we had the same dish five times with minor variations. The food was fine, but it wasn't mind-blowing. Ultimately I went in expecting to get dumplings and pork-bone soup and some short ribs and a few other things, and instead I got minor variations on a single fast-food korean dish at a pace that wasn't food-court or fast-food. Basically ... disappointed. I'd eat here again, but probably only if I were already nearby and didn't feel like eating at Baretto or Island Foods or Me Va Me or one of a few other places in the area that I would prefer. read more

If I could leave a zero review I would. The guy that works there is extremely grumpy. He makes you feel like he doesn't want your business. Not just one experience with him either. First time all I did was try to order two specials and said I could only order one and kept going on and on about it, I let it slide thinking he just had a bad day. Visited Yummy twice and ordered the Yummy Special and BBQ Kalbi (short rib) Combo. The Yummy Special comes with 2 pan-fried dumplings, 2 scoops of rice, battered and fried zucchini, a healthy serving of BBQ beef, chicken, kalbi, and a handful of side dishes. The BBQ Kalbi Combo comes with 2 scoops of rice and a generous amount of kalbi along with the same side dishes above (macaroni salad, japchae, tofu in soy sauce, and kimchi). Unbelieveable portion size, courteous staff, excellent food. It was quite cold outside during both visits and was offered tea on the house which was a fantastic accompaniment to my meal. Tastes like a home cooked meal your grandma insisted on feeding you (which you certainly enjoyed). Yummy resides in a small food court which you may easily find seating and enjoy your meal in peace. Four stars would have been given until two weeks ago, they pumped up the prices (again!) by $2-3 per items. Pretty hefty increase for a take out place. It used to be excellent value but less so now. It has to be the rudest place I have ever been too. I walk in thinking I will like to try it out for my family. I am ordering and the absolutely rudest old man was totally ticked off with me. I order 5 dishes and he says that is too much. I can't take anymore. I said "what but I wanted 2 other things". He than says its too much work and starts complaining to me. Now I am in shock. A place will actually not want my business. He than goes to the kitchen and comes back and I say to him "do you want me to leave?" He says yes you can go. Leave now.
