Very on the expensive side but very yummy and was the best sushi ever I had but the chairs were uncomfortable

Definitely the best place to grab sushi when you're in Okotoks. We have visited Yume sushi multiple times when we visit Okotoks and we have never been disappointed. For a sushi restaurant in a small town, their sushi rolls are great and their sashimi is fine (it's just like the sashimi in Calgary) and their quite affordable. Although I wouldn't recommend the all you can eat as it only offers limited types of rolls, appetizers, and entrees. And I think ordering specific rolls, appetizers, and entrees that you like is a much better deal than just stuffing yourself full. The service is quick and consistent. Their server is always attentive and pleasant. Most of the time the restaurant is not busy so you almost get a full restaurant to yourself, which is kinda nice, in my opinion. Overall, I would definitely recommend Yume Sushi, especially for their lunch specials and sushi rolls. read more

Rode our bikes here from Lion's Campground and enjoyed an early all-you-can-eat lunch! Very satisfying on a hot summer day. It's cool inside and pleasantly clean and bright with large windows to the outside street where we can watch our bikes locked on rack by the front door. Service was cheerful and attentive. Our orders were promptly taken and miso, edamame, seaweed salad sushi and teriyaki were delivered fresh as ordered. We enjoyed every bite and plan to return. For an all you can eat sushi bar, I have to say it's pretty good. Our waitress was extremely quick - so quick I was never able to finish my water. Food was pretty good, but unfortunately some of the rolls did fall apart which was a minor issue. I personally would not go to order off their menu, but the "all you can eat" is definitely their centrepiece. Also, careful going on a hot summer day, it heats up quick in the building. A little AC or additional fans would be beneficial. read more

I generally do not give out a lot of 5 stars. But have been to Yume a few times and they are awesome. I have to eat from the Gluten-Free selection and being Celiac I have found that they have never made me sick. My wife loves their Salmon and as a treat to her we drop in from time to time. The staff is always friendly and helpful, the restaurant is a local gem and worth a trip to taste their fabulous food. I have recommended them to others. Drop-in and say hi to the wonderful staff and stay and sample. read more

We decided to take the kids there for a change over our favourite sushi place Ikoi. We found it to be extremely over priced and not all that fresh. What I know about sushi is that when eating raw fish you should have an overly "fishy" taste. You can also usually tell a good sushi place by the quality of the Sashimi and tightness of the sushi rolls. My sashimi came out suspiciously warm, however it didn't have a fishy smell, but was a little slimy than what I am used to seeing. The rolls were terribly wrapped and fell apart way too easily, and the rice inside the rolls didn't taste like they seasoned it properly before rolling. (Yes sushi rice is seasoned even though it's white). My son who is a beef teriyaki nut, didn't want to finish his, and my wife who shared her chicken teriyaki couldn't finish hers either. When I had a bite it tasted like it was seasoned with a salt lick. We were really hoping this would be our new favourite as its located down town Okotoks and I support anything that will bring more road traffic and customers to the locally owned businesses, but this is one I won't support. I'll try back next summer. read more

The service is friendly and non-invasive while still meeting the customers needs. We ordered 4 types of rolls, some raw some with tempura shrimp and veggies. For two of us it was too much food, so we took the leftovers home. Service was quick and the food is very good for the price. I was also pleased to see the staff sanitizing the tables and chairs when patrons left. Would recommend. read more

Waited over a hour to be told that there was not enough to complete my all can eat order I paid full price for and only had 6 rolls and 4 pieces of sushi nothing I even ordered. Then they charged my girlfriend full price . This place is a scam and i mostly likely will go to court over this . They purposely did this and should be charged with theft and fraud . read more

A bit of a "cheap and cheerful" destination and you only get what you pay for. Small portions, food served in an unconventional order - soup and salad arrived after the sushi was served. Salad dressing was not what you expect from a sushi restaurant. The only plus is you can keep ordering the small portions within the "eat all you can" package. Very few customers the day I visited and that suggests it will not be operating much longer, unless the quality and service improves SUBSTANTIALLY!! read more

AUG 16: Went to Okotoks newest sushi establishment today. We should have been tipped off by the name "yume". A cheap play on words to draw in a small town crowd. The meal was neither "yume" nor cheap. It was however very lazily prepared which of course does not at all adhere to the Japanese method of doing anything... Least if all food preparation. While none of it was inedible, I'm doubtful any of it was Japanese. The Miso soup was the highlight while the green salad was just alright. I've had similar yam tempura on the midway at stampede and as for the the gyoza, I'm next to positive they share a delivery service with the Chinese joint next door. It tasted a lot like a Chinese dumpling (which I incidentally love) however I was tempted to order chili oil to go with them... I've never felt compelled to that in a sushi restaurant. You don't need to be Japanese to make good sushi but I can tell you generally, when I have had a bad experience, it's usually not a Japanese chef preparing it. Getting right down to the good stuff we ordered a sashimi roll and a spicy crunch tuna roll. The fish was not the worst I've had to be fair but nor was it appetizing. Our experience was fishy. Great sushi has a way of bringing you energy and filling you with calm after consuming it; all while visually stimulating you with art filled creations and intricate knife work. Yume's spicy crunch tuna mashed some cornflakes on the top of the roll as a 'garnish'?.... The sushimi roll was a butchering of a poor cucumber whilst jamming it with chunks of less than fresh fish, leaving a sensation that we were experiencing something similar to a botched thanksgiving turducken attempt. Of course the bill was consistent with main street price tags. I guess prices should be inflated to pay the rent...right? And again I don't mind paying a premium for a premium. This experience just left me feeling ripped off. If you're sick of subway and weighed down by all the money in your wallet, drop by for a bite at Yume. If you want great authentic sushi at a better than reasonable price, drive up the hill to drakes landing. There's a little place up there next to Tom's house of pizza that will leave you with euphoria you're craving. read more
