Salmon and Avocado Cones
Sam H.

Came here on Sunday before the dinner rush. Good thing to as it got busier near the end of our meal. We heard of this place from a colleague. Very spacious with quite a few tables. Menu had quite a few ramen choices - a good sign. We ordered 2 Black Ramen, 1 Shoyu, and 1 Red (mild spicy). Also ordered 1 Alaskan roll and 3 Salmon Avocado cones - my favourite. Everything was well presented and yummy. The noodles were perfect QQ (al dente). The black ramen was very flavourful and the pork was very tender. The Red ramen was just the right amount of spicy that it didn't overpower the broth or ingredients. My kids slurped up the ramen like it was their last meal. The Alaska roll and cones had good size of fish to rice ratio. We ended with a deep fried ice cream - Mango. Yum! They also provided colouring pages and markers for the kids to keep them busy which was a nice touch. Staff was very friendly and I think it was the owner came by multiple times to check on us. If you've read some of my reviews you will know that my family eats a lot of ramen. This is our new favourite place right now.

Miso Soup

Great restaurant with great service. Staff was friendly and since I was there the first time, the waitress carefully explained the menu and the ordering process. The miso soup I ordered was tasty and had lots of seaweed and tofu bits in there. The Chasu Ramen was great too. I'm a big fan of spicy food, and even though I asked for more spice, it didn't really tasted that spicy. The portion of noodles and pork slices was really generous. Overall a great experience being there for dinner.

We came for Ramen and were very impressed. The best Cha Sui I had in Calgary! Portion sizes are great and you get plenty of noodles to make you full. My husband love spicy and the manager was nice enough to provide him with plenty of chili oil to satisfy his taste buds. I like that they had daily discounts and different items in the menu too. Though we only wanted ramen that day. Will be back to try their sushi next time!

Good selection of Nigiri sushi and special rolls. Unfortunately, there was no Saba Nigiri :( The Osaka roll was delicious. Friendly service and nice decor.

Volcano Roll!

So nice to squeeze us in at the bar when we didn't have reservation. Service was A+ as hostess was super nice and came and talked to us while waiting. Food was delicious. We went for some classics and then were wowed by the boathouse and volcano roll (I would say one of my all time best rolls I have had). Will be back

I ordered the hand pulled noodles in beef soup and appreciated that you can choose the type of noodle. On the cashier's recommendation, I went with the thin noodles, which were excellent. The soup arrived hot with a well-balanced ratio of noodles to toppings, making it both satisfying and comforting. You can also adjust the spice level and add chili oil to taste. Service was efficient, prices were reasonable, and there was ample seating available. If I find myself back in the area, I would gladly return!

It was a pleasant surprise to partake of Lanzhou hand-pulled noodles which were like silk! Tons of lamb choices. I'm always down for lamb and I was in my element. My lamb noodle dish had those "curtain noodles" with tons of vegetables and highly seasoned lamb - cumin and chili - 100% Northern Chinese. So delicious. Spouse had a lovely braised beef soup with thin noodles, scented with five-spice My only minor criticism is that my lamb noodles were a tad oily. Portions are large, prices are what they are these days. Highly recommend!

A complimentary scoop of sherbet was even served afterwards to cut the spice. The katsu orders looked huge and savory. Sit at the bar to watch the kitchen cook, if possible. I looked for Ramen places on google and came across this restaurant. They have been around for a few years but I had never noticed them before. When we went in we were greeted and told that we could sit anywhere. My son wanted to sit at the sushi bar side but we elected to sit at a table. The restaurant is not very big with seating for maybe 20. Menus were already on the table. Not an extensive menu. A selection of ramen, Rice dishes, sides, and beverages. We ordered 2 Tonkotsu Ramen with extra noodles and a Tonkatsu (Pork cutlets with rice). We also had a side order of salmon sashimi. Everyone had waters and I ordered a tea. The ramen was really good. Broth not too salty. Not as layered flavour that we have tasted from other places but still very good. Noodles are the curly ones and picked up the flavour of the broth nicely. The Tonkatsu was good. A little dry - had to use the sauce extensively. The salmon sashimi appy was good. It came with a home made wasabi dressing/sauce. To end the meal they gave us complimentary ice cream. Nice touch. Staff were really friendly and appreciative that we came by. My son needed to use the washroom a couple of times and it was clean. Will definitely come back again for the ramen. Family enjoyed our meal.

loved the decor, the interior blends bold, traditional japanese elements with a slightly modern,…read moreizakaya style flair. the space features dark brick walls and wooden beams, giving it a cozy, intimate feel, while a striking lantern style light fixture overhead adds a warm glow. i could not help but think what a great place to gather with a group, enjoy drinks, and share a bunch of dishes. the menu was a bit overwhelming (in a good way). so many options, truth be told, i was over stimulated but we eventually narrowed it down to two oshis and the beef tataki, to start. unfortunately, the food didn't quite live up to the setting. we were pretty disappointed that the oshis weren't flame seared, part of what makes oshi sushi so craveable is that warm, caramelized top. both rolls we ordered tasted pretty much the same, despite having different toppings. the monsoon special (tuna, salmon, avocado, dried onion, creamy yum sauce, unagi sauce, sesame seeds) and the salmon oshi (spicy mayo, cucumber, jalapeño, sesame seeds, dried onion) looked different, but flavour wise, were indistinguishable. also, the seaweed wrap situation was strange, it seemed like it was wrapped like a sushi and then the bottom half was sliced off, giving it an unfinished feel. they were not layered in a rectangular mold, and was missing the lightly flame seared smoky caramelized taste. then there was the beef tataki, the crunchy bits we were biting into turned out to be garlic flakes, but the texture was oddly sharp, i thought i had bit into shards of oyster shells. the sauce threw us off too, the balance of citrus and sweet was off, with a weird spicy kick, like frank's hot sauce that didn't quite work. we did not finish this. we had planned to order some drinks and deep fried dishes, but decided against this. service was friendly and the ambiance was great, but the food execution just didn't match up. not sure we'd return.

The fish cheek was lightly fried with plenty of meat. You can also order a flying fish sashimi that it was presented beautifully. After finishing the sashimi, they will ask if you would like the remainder of the fish fried. We opted to do this and everything down to the bone was edible and crunchy, like fish chips. I love how none of the fish was wasted and the entire fish was edible. Overall, highly recommend this place if you are looking for fresh fish and quite authentic flavors. Be prepared to leave smelling a bit smokey though due to the open kitchen. But it's great that you can watch them prepare some of the food.
