If I could have left no stars I would have. Ordered on Saturday for Sunday pick up. When I got there they were lined up with people waiting 45 minutes for their orders. Very disorganized and no one knew what they were doing. I checked in for my order and was told to wait. After a half hour I asked where my order was and having to push for an answer they admitted they lost my order. New management is doing a terrible job and there were many angry customers that night. Ordered the special fried rice, beef w broccoli, ginger beef, pineapple sweat and sour pork, and holy it was sooo good. Serving is worth the money too! Big Rock Inn - Great late dinner meal - Chinese Near Me - Okotoks, Alberta

My first time in trying Big Rock Inn, the food was so delicious, the portions are huge, you would never go away hungry, the sweet & sour chicken ball have large pieces of chicken (not all batter), service was great, she was very nice, the restaurant is very clean, highly recommend this place , will surely be back. read more

This place is legendary people have been going here for over 30 years. The menu is diverse and the buffet is great value. The service is incredibly quick and prompt great for a quick dinner if you're driving through or a long dinner during the week. Takeout is quick but can get very busy on the weekends. read more

Holy crap, is this good Chinese Food! Seriously, I'm really picky when it comes to "americanized" Chinese Food, and this stuff is STELLAR!!! I would recommend ordering in the restaurant, rather than take-out or delivery. People in South Calgary don't have far to travel to experience the goodness that is Big Rock Inn! It's right on the main drag of downtown Okotoks, and you'd almost not know that it's chinese-themed food walking by it. If you are looking for the best tasting Ginger Beef in town, this place is the place to enjoy it. It isn't the white-washed crap you get at most restaurants in Calgary... There's actually a fair amount of Ginger in this plate of delish! With most chinese food places in Calgary, it looks and tastes like the restaurant has one main sauce they just color differently for the different dishes... Not this place! Everything tastes unique, and the food is freshly prepared. The service is excellent, too... If you haven't tried this place yet, you are missing out! read more

We heard good reviews about Big Rock so decided to give them a try after a hectic week. I normally only post reviews if I have something good to say, but I admit I was very disappointed in the food at this buffet. It was extremely salty, greasy and every dish tasted the same. With the exception of the spring roll which was the most delicious part of the meal. The dessert buffet was cookies, jello, cantaloupe and watermelon. One of my favourite parts about any Chinese buffet is having ice cream as a finisher. Ice cream is not included in the buffet here. For $20.00 per person, I could have had a much better meal anywhere in Okotoks or High River. Won't be visiting this one again. read more

I have eaten at Big Rock Inn for many years and about 3 times a year, the food is usually hot and the service is good. I find the food hit and miss, wether the ginger beef is tough or things could be cooked better., it is more than likely because it is sooo busy. I would recommend to a friend and just hope it is a hit. read more

The Chinese Buffet at this establishment was packed for a Friday night. We were recommended to this place by a friend and thought we would give it a try. To keep my rant short and brief, I wouldn't recommend this place. The items on the buffet were so salty and the quality was very poor. The price was right for the poor quality. read more

Having never tried this place before we ordered takeout after reading reviews on Yelp. Tonight I ordered a mushroom fried rice, which was white steamed rice with peas, onions and a few mushrooms for $9, (I have always received seasoned brown rice...I thought that's the "fried" part you paid the extra for)?! I asked for vegetable lo mein which they did not have on their menu but said they could do a Cantonese vegetable dish and would remove all the meat. They were very accommodating, however I thought forgoing pork, chicken and shrimp I wouldn't be charged the full price of $14. I was wrong, but I digress. The noodles were overly starchy, with too much sauce, and had unseasoned barely cooked (I like al dente but these bordered on raw) vegetables strewn on top. This was a once only stop at Big Rock. If you eat meat and try their buffet maybe it would be better but the question I leave you with is: HOW CAN YOU SCREW UP FRIED RICE!? read more

My family and I have been going here for the last year or so, it was great at the start, once and awhile a little slip up, rice is a big mush with water leaking out, or wrong order, or really bad service. No problem because the food was half decent. We usually ordered the granny curd tofu with beef, and sweet and sour pork, today we ordered that, picked it up came home. Opened up the sweet and sour pork noticed the color was WAY off, tried it and it was sesame pork, looked at the granny curd tofu, and it has shrimp in it. We have ordered it over 30 times, never once had shrimp in it, I have a serious allergy to shrimp and sea food. So we called them and they said they wouldn't fix the order to bring it back and they will refund it. So my mother and gf came with me, the first thing she says is, O it's you guys, we can NEVER please you and you complain everytime. Excuse me? Out of the 25-35 times we have ordered you messed up 3-4 times, and ya I will complain if I have the wrong order, something I didn't pay for. She says she doesn't want my buisness anymore and to go somewhere else. She goes to the back and gets the owner, he says ya ya always has shrimp and thats sweet and sour pork, thats the formula we always use. I say I understand might just be a mix up, he says no no mix up my fault. She puts the money on the table, and I ask why are you being so rude? She goes, you have called me that before! Um, no I haven't. She says get out of here I do not want your buisness me and my girlfriend complain too much and are never happy. So you know what, you bet I am never comming back, if you want your food mixed up, and be treated like crap this place is the best for you!. read more
