My son went away on vacation and I was housesitting for them. They had leftover Chinese food in the fridge and I ate it all. Then I text them from Calgary to Mexico asking them. Where did they get this delicious Chinese food. Sun Island eatery they said and it's the best Chinese food they've ever had. So tonight I drove all the way from Auburn Bay to Sun Valley and ordered takeout. The gal was very well organized taking orders, checking on delivery helping customers in and out of the kitchen accepting phone calls. She was amazing and very nice. First time trying out Sun Island and it was wonderful. my kids took me there for my birthday and we had the dinner for six. everything was cooked to perfection with lots of flavour and crispy textures. The food portions are quite good, the last time I ate there I had a noodle dish, it was enough for two lunches. I'm a big guy, and I was satisfied with the amount, and quality of the food. These guys don't care about my business. I've been a long time loyal customer but they clearly don't care. New Year's Eve they don't take any calls but don't advertise to order DAYS ahead! After an hour of trying to get through I drove there only to be told they are full of orders and I should have called 4 days ahead. Then put that on your website! But instead they take the phone off the hook. Must be nice to have so much business you don't care about keeping customers happy. Probably order $2,000 or more a year of food from these guys in a year. Someone else can have that business. Too bad, food is great. read more

This is without a doubt my favourite Chinese place in the city. The first time I walked in to receive my pick up order (which was quick btw) I immediately felt like a regular there, the lady who runs it is so kind. The ginger beef and vegetable chow mien are second to none, they come in generous portions for the money and are extremely fresh. And somehow, the fortunes in the cookies seem better, I have no clue how they do it. I need to properly sit down in the restaurant one of these days, but with my relationship ended I don't find myself venturing south to this hidden jem as much as I'd like. We decided to try this place on account of the amazing reviews. We ordered pan fried pork dumplings, salt and pepper tofu, ginger beef, and veg fried thick noodles. I picked it up instead of having it delivered. It was ready almost exactly when they said it would be ready. They were pleasant when I ordered. I'm only a short drive from the restaurant and although food was wrapped up well, it was not hot. The dumplings tasted about the same as anywhere else, the ginger beef was dry with minimal sauce. It was lacking in flavour. The tofu was cooked differently than I have ever had. It's appearance resembled dehydrated crackers cut into triangles. Very very dry, crispy and with a nice seasoning. Not at all what I was expecting but it was different. The noodles were okay but lacking in flavour and had only a handful of assorted veg, celery, water chestnuts, carrot and mushrooms. There was no sauce that I could see. I think had there been sauce in any of the dishes they would've been better in my opinion. I prob won't order here again. read more

I had honey garlic ribs there's nothing but bone cartilage and dough didn't find that great no meat in Ginger beef it's like they ran out of meat or something not paying 13 bucks for that although the noodles were good and the pepper squid was good. My husband and I decided to try this little gem since moving to the area. We ordered take out, the dinner for two. And it was great. Their ginger beef and sweet and sour pork were crispy and so yummy! When normally at other Chinese restaurants they are always soggy. The portions were generous and the price was reasonable.
