We can usually depend on it being busy as they offer a small dining area with limited tables outside, so when we do walk in we do so prepared. They do have a reservation system but to my knowledge we have not used it. We just walk up and greet the staff person at the door to check in, and they tell us what the wait is like. If it's over a half hour we usually kill time in Raley's. It's usually not longer than a 20 minute wait. If you are a large party, things might get cramped, but I've seen them pull it off with gusto. We've never had a party larger than four and it's been great. I really like the folks who work here. And the food is great too. They have a few tvs and a little sushi bar at the back, and the noise level is about average depending on how many children are dining with their families. Komachi has a dedicated vegetarian menu and I've tried most of the things on it. I love that they have marinated shiitake rolls, my fave of the standard veggie sushi innards. Yummy! My favorite rolls on the menu are the Garden Roll (steamed asparagus, avocado, cucumber, kanpyo, and shiitake), Shittake Maki, and the Rich Jumbo Roll (fried asparagus, fried onion, avocado, cream cheese, and cucumber). Appetizers I have tried and enjoyed very much include the Agedashi tofu, fried brussels sprouts (I have to remember to have the fish flake removed from this dish though), and of course, wakame (seaweed salad). They do have ramen, donburi, bento boxes, teppanyaki (the tofu one I look forward to trying soon!) and salads as well if you're not in the sushi mood. I like their seasonal drink menu, featuring wine, soju, and beer. Komachi is also reasonably priced. Yeah, pretty much everything I'm looking for when me and my boo are craving sushi. Vegan Corner: several items can be made vegan upon request, but there is not a dedicated menu. Bathroom Report: noisy pipes will not hurt you, at least it's smelling fresh right?

We sent my niece ahead of everyone because we had a birthday at the table with a cake and candles and to let them know that we brought it and would like it for our dessert. They mentioned that there would be a cake cutting fee and my niece says says that it's fine. We can cut it ourselves. During the entire dinner, our waitress was nowhere to be found. We had to ask her for refills. She was absolutely not attentive, but the part that was the most egregious was when she brought out a birthday ice cream and we sang, I let her know that we had brought our own cake for this so she goes to get it and just plops down a brown paper bag that we brought everything in right there on the edge of the table. I couldn't even believe it! I told her we had candles in there, and I was hoping that we could use the cake we brought with the candles to sing my dad Happy birthday. She goes back and comes back with the candles unlit and struggles to light them in front of everyone. It was just really lackluster and for such an expensive dinner you would think that there would be better service. I've literally had better service at Chilis..

The sushi was flavorless and tasted like it had been sitting around way too long. The entrées weren't any better--bland, small portions, and zero indication that anyone in the kitchen actually cared about what they were putting out. Sooooo, I pay myself with sushi sometimes. This is acceptable, yeah, cuz either I try to save $25, which would eventually get spent anyway, or use it on something valuable. Maison is on the grounds near the main roadway that Appellation is on. They've got a bakery here, as well as a wine bar of sorts connected to it. The bread here is so fresh, soft, & good. We ended up getting 2 fresh loafs to bring back home. You can take your food and coffee and sit out back or out front. Tons of people I think stop in here to hang and get a quick bite and just sit outside and enjoy the weather and people watch. Nice place to hang.

I got mine with no cheese and a side of onions, and it was every bit as good as I remembered. One thing that was a little odd was that my friend's plate came with chips and veggies while mine only came with the sandwich and veggies. I'm not sure if there was a difference in how the orders were entered, but it definitely caught my attention. That said, those chips were absolutely delicious. We liked them so much that we packed up the leftovers and took them with us while we walked over to the visitor center afterward. That's always a good sign when you're making sure not a single chip goes to waste. We've been here quite a few times over the years, and one thing that keeps us coming back is the consistency. The food is always excellent, and even on busier days they seem to keep things moving. During this visit the restaurant was fairly crowded, but we were still served promptly and never felt forgotten. The atmosphere is one of my favorite things about Maison. It feels relaxed without being overly casual and always makes for a nice lunch stop when we're in Lodi. Helpful tip: If the chips come with your meal, don't leave them behind. They're surprisingly addictive and worth taking home if you can't finish them. Between the great food, friendly service, and reliable consistency, Maison continues to be one of our favorite places to stop whenever we're spending the day in Lodi.
