I find that this place has a wide selection, cinnamon buns, croissants, cheese buns, macaroni, however, it is quite pricey. We bought a small cake and dessert in a jar. I believe both of them were $8.50/each. The triple berry dessert was delicious. The cake wasn't great. Not a lot of flavor. We expected a vanilla birthday cake, and it was quite underwhelming. I have purchased the morning glory muffins in the past which were good. Would like to come back to try more items. read more

Yum Bakery - Bakeries Near Me - Calgary, Alberta

It's a small bakery located in Calgary's Farmers Market West. You'll find classic baked goods such as croissants, baguettes, etc. The staff is indifferent to customers. Prices are good. I got some of the small cakes they offer such as the lemon coconut cake and the lemon tart. Oh boy! Good but uber-sweet. The sourdough bread is ok but if you're looking for a great baguette, not the right place. read more

Yum Bakery located inside Calgary Farmers' Market is a solid bakery if you want to pick up some bread, croissants or sweets. I just could not resist picking up a croissant to go while browsing their offerings. Buttery, Flaky and Fresh. There seemed to be a line but it moved fast. A good option for some treats while visiting the Market. read more

Totally Racist Staff! Do Not Go! Visited this Bakery earlier today and have to say this is one of the worst service experiences I've had in recent memory. The staff were down right racist! I was first in line with my girlfriend and ready to order, but the staff consistently ignored me and asked the people BEHIND me what they'd like to buy. My girlfriend and I had our credit card out and politely asked them why they were ignoring us in favor of people behind us; no surprise, they just ignored our questions and worked with the people behind us in line. The only difference between us and fellow patrons? We weren't white. We are asians with a darker complexion. If you are asian, or other ethnicity that is not white, DO NOT SHOP HERE. They do not welcome people of different races here. Needless to say, I won't ever be returning and will make sure to let all of my network on social media know how racist this place is. read more

Workflow and customer service definitely need to be upgraded. I made an order in advance, and was left standing around with several other customers. Staff clearly had no idea where our orders were. read more

Baked goods are dry and not worth the price , I'll be taking my business to a place where they actually make sure their products are fresh

This place is located inside the Calgary's Farmer Market. I got the cheese bun with roasted garlic and it was delicious! It was covered generously with cheese and had chunks of garlic inside. It was heavenly! read more

Yum Bakery - Bakeries Near Me - Calgary, Alberta

Yum Bakery is a vendor in the Calgary Farmers Market which is 510-77th AVE SE just south of Blackfoot. Alright, this review is solely on the macarons at Yum Bakery. They have many baked goods, bread, cakes, macarons, pies...etc. that look quite delicious. They have a nice display with cakes, bars and macarons that first caught my eye. I decided to get a 6 macarons to try because I've been craving them since I tried M for Macaron so I went with: Raspberry, Vanilla Cappucino, Pistacio, 2 salted caramel and peppermint chocolate. They also have other flavours like orange, oreo, coffee... The display probably changes but thats just what they offered the day I visited. I didn't eat the macarons immediately because I know they're best served when taken out of the fridge and sitting at room temperature for about 10-15 minutes. After the market, on our drive back I decided to give one a try. I tried the salted caramel one. At first bite it was crumbly and hard. It seemed overbaked. I thought that was a fluke so later in the day I tried the pistacio one but same texture! Hard, chewy and crumbly. The filling just tasted like butter in all of them, no WOW factor for me. So pretty much after trying M for Macaron at the Kingsland Farmers Market, I thought Yum Bakery would measure up but it didn't at all. Macarons should taste like the flavor listed, have an airy fluffy tastful bite. BUT! like I said, this review is solely on macarons...I haven't tried the other goods but seeing the line they had, other things besides the macarons are probably much better! read more

4$ for a cookie? Welcome to ripoff city. Ill try to keep the review based on this bakery and not the general ripoff atmosphere of the Calgary Farmers market, which has caused the good bakeries to LEAVE the calgary farmers market. The bakery is small, with typical $$$ bread and loaves. Nothing makes this place stand out. The local bakery next to your house has all that these people do. read more

One of the great vendors situated along the north wall of the CFM, Yum bakery offers outstanding breads and buns, lovely sweets, but just average scones. Standout loaves include the mild green onion and wild rice loaf, the funky walnut blue cheese, and the rustic baguette. Steal-of-a-deal has to be the day-olds (likely still fresher than what you're buying at the supermarket). Pick up a massive $2 brioche or aforementioned walnut/blue cheese loaf and make some of the best pain-perdu or french toast you've ever laid your taste buds on, Yum also has very nice challah buns. These have become our go-to burger buns, though I've found quite dark, almost-burnt, bottoms on these and the small sub/panini buns before. Taste on these brown bottoms is actually quite nice, but can be visually a little disconcerting if you have fussy eaters (or are a little neurotic yourself...) Tarts and pies have been great. Chocolate and salted caramel tarts are lovely, coconut tart or larger pie is out-of-this world and priced well (I think around $15 for a 10" cream pie). Only things that have been a little underwhelming have been the chocolate sourdough buns (not chocolate enough to be sweets, or sourdough enough to be savory...I'm just not sure what to do with them), and pleasant, but not outstanding scones. Still, I'd gladly eat most anything available there, and will go out of my way for the challah and wild-rice loafs. read more

Yum bakery, where do I start? Its in the Calgary,s farmers market by Blackfoot trail and heritage drive. Their desserts are really amazing. They have these cup sized dessert, chocolate mousse...so delicious. I think its $4 ea if you have disposable income its OK to indulge every now and then. We also tried their pies, and my husband leo loves it. Cake...we tried carrot cake pretty good too. I gave it 4 stars because, 1 time I saw flies hovering over the danish pastries....eeekk, though little pricey, little indulgence in life is not a bad thing. After all this is why we work hard, to enjoy the finer things in life! read more

So far, the offerings at Yum Bakery vary from okay to quite good. The challah buns are very nice. I had a savoury mushroom and arugula pastry that was delicious! Some other things (lemon loaf and other treats) were mediocre and not worth repeating. For thanksgiving they had a large selection of pies; apple, bumbleberry, pumpkin, sweet potato, pecan, sour cherry and a few other kinds. They vary in price from 15.00 - 18.00, so a bit pricey, but I just had a piece of the bumbleberry pie and it is awesome!!! My big peeve with pies is when the sweetness over shadows the flavour. The tart all berry filling is generous - barely sweet and full of flavour - the way a pie should be. The crust is yummy too.Thankyou to Yum Bakery for the best bumbleberry pie I have had in a very long time! :-) read more

Yum Bakery - Bumbleberry pie from Yum Bakery - Bakeries Near Me - Calgary, Alberta

I visited the bakery at the market yesterday and purchased a pie. It looked like it was going to be yummy so I did not mind the high ticket of $18. Boy were we disappointed! Other that the visual appeal that is where the delight ended. The filling was more of a paste with no whole berries visible and more than that the taste was actually unpleasant. The bottom crust was very thin and soggy while the top crust was thicker, it has almost a burnt flavour. Overall a very disappointing experience. I will stick to homemade moving forward. read more

I visited Yum Bakery at approximately 11AM on Sunday September 22 and experienced one of the most blatantly racist experiences in my life. I stood in line with my credit card ready to have a staff member take my order. I had three female staff members make eye contact, glance over me, and take the order from the Caucasian gentleman standing BEHIND me in line. I brushed it off. After they had finished his order, the staff members proceeded to ask if anyone BEHIND him needed help with their order. I left immediately. I called to talk to the store manager later and was met with a lukewarm response. There was no apology offered and there was no attempt to take down the details. read more

As me & my fiancé make frequent road trips to Calgary, we would always stop by the Calgary Farmers market on 77th. We enjoy the different selection of baked goods & bbq there, we usually stop by the yum bakery. Let's just put it this way, the macaroons are mediocre good the tarts are what we usually go for but the customer service is horrid. This time we were standing clear view in front of the refrigerated fridge lining up behind another fellow as he had his order taken & to pay. As we were next in line you would THINK the girl there would ask what we would like, instead walked away like we weren't there and asked a woman that just walked in and asked if she wanted help she shook her head than walked towards her coworkers to chat & stared at us. Bakery isn't anything special & I'm sure there's other places to go. read more

Always love their desserts, especially the carrot cake. Best in the city for sure! Great staff and cute little place. Our go to bakery

We LOVE their cakes. Our family was getting to the point where no one wanted the birthday cakes, often a disappointment. Then we tried the YUM raspberry delight birthday cake and everyone had a second piece. Now whenever there is a birthday someone is designated to pick up a cake at the Market from Yum. My personal favourite is the chocolate fudge, and my husband prefers the carrot cake covered in pumpkin seeds. We also like the Finnish rye bread. Went to pick up a cake on Sunday and was amazed at how many people were running in to the market to pick up a cake and wondering around with the distinctive box. Yes, best cakes in the city. read more

My husband and I decided to pick up a treat while visiting from out of town. He got the chocolate croissant and I got a cranberry orange scone. The chocolate croissant was low on chocolate, very dry, and hard. The scone was a very strange consistency with no flavor whatsoever. Not worth the price or the calories! read more

I bought a variety of goodies but I found them forgettable, unfortunately. This would be ok but not for the price. I did like the flavour combos and they sounded like a different kind of treat I was looking forward to. Garlic cheese bun? Gruyere and bacon scone? Danish type thing with mushrooms and balsamic reduction? Sounds good but didn't deliver on expectations. The actual pastry was pretty good though I just wanted more flavour. read more

This review is also based solely on the macarons...perhaps they read reviews and made adjustments because the ones I had were delightful. I chose six different kinds but the standouts were sour cherry, lime and coffee. Smaller than the average macaron the price also reflects this as they are $1.50 each. They were all crisp and chewy but not crumbly and the filling were smooth and tasty. Between the two macaron stalls in the Calgary Farmer's Market (I've tried both) I would choose this one. One small critique...the staff manning the booth should be more knowledgeable about French baking. read more

We have had the very good fortune of being able to visit a couple of times (we don't live in Calgary). The lemon tartes were the best we have ever had (our whole group agreed)! And the macaroons are absolutely the best ever! And we have had macaroons all over the place. Prices are reasonable for the taste and quality! A little indulgence is necessary! read more

We only tried the pastries but they were excellent - the tomato, ham & cheese and spinach & artichoke. The flavour was tasty and the puff pastry was as good as any I've tried in Paris. Bravo! I can hardly wait to try some of their cakes and bread. read more

The macarons from yum bakery are just horrible! The worst macarons I have ever had in my life!

Ive only tried the Macarons. So Im just basing it there. Im gonna be comparing a lot of it to Yann Haute Patisserie too, sooo. Anyways, the pistachio one is okay. It lacks flavour and it just tasted eh. It wasnt very sweet and its not as good as the ones at Yann. The Raspbery Hibiscus is pretty good. Its tangy and sweet, filled with flavour and its really a treat, I guess you could compare it to the passion fruit one at Yann? Tangy and just a tiny bit sour. THE SALTED CARAMEL ONE DISAPPOINTED ME. So its very beautiful, caramel, golden colour and sweet, slightly buttery smell, but the taste is UGH. The filling is horridly sweet and the macaron cookie is hecka salty. You would think it would balance out, but NO. First the sweetness hits you and then the salt attacks after. Polar opposites that dont mix. Bleh. Overall the macarons arent very good. I mean, their better than somewhere like a grocery store, but the macaron wasnt very full and chewy. Its just a crunch with lots of air. The only plus is the size, but c'mon Yann Haute has slightly smaller, better quality ones for $0.10 less...I would also like to point out the packaging is just a take out clear container...whereas Yann has a cute box fit for the Macarons... read more
