The holiday season being Christmas and Thanksgiving lol! Today however I had the privilege to try three of their macaroons and all I can say is that all three were so delicious! I don't know what the three flavours were as there was no sign or menu around however there was a green macaroon awake macaroon and a pink macaroon ha ha The penguin definitely tasted like I had strawberry in it but for the green and the white one I have absolutely no idea what delicious flavour they were.

It's important to order ahead as they do get many orders. I love the scalable sizes of cakes you can order all depending on the amount of persons you want to feed. I would not hesitate in making this my go to place for cakes of any kind for any occasion. They take the time to create a custom high quality cake and it's so apparent in the order.

It was embarrassing! * The main issue: she messed up the color of the cake character (black instead of blue) even though I sent her photos of the character. My photos say it all! Even Pinterest would show that Pete the Cat is BLUE, not black! My son didn't recognize the cake topper at all and to think it was his birthday cake! My guests thought it was Felix the Cat, too! I had no choice but to make a joke about it. I also wanted red, white, blue and brown shoes on the cake. But NO white shoes. She did incorporate my request for strawberries, blueberries and musical notes. But that's about it. She told me I should've specified that the cat is blue, not black. So it's MY fault then??? She said she did her research, right? It would have been nice if she double checked with me about the character color while she was making the cake. She offered some discount for a future cake but instead I asked for a small refund since I was just visiting Calgary but she refused, claiming "that the cake you received was as requested." How can it be AS REQUESTED when she didn't get the character color right??? If one really intends to satisfy her customers, wouldn't she do anything to make things right at least?? The only 2 good things (hence the 2 stars) were that we had a cake on my son's birthday and it did look good on pictures except for the black cat. For sure, I won't be ordering from her in my future visits to Calgary and for sure won't recommend her to my friends as well. She said I was the first one to complain about her cake. Well, I hope that she buys herself the book Customer Satisfaction for Dummies (if there is one) and takes the minutest cake details to heart so that I will be her last dissatisfied customer as well.

The pastry place is located in a good location. In midtown of Calgary. It is in the basement and I…read morecan see people not noticing this place existed. I found this place through Yelp and I am a big fan of pastries and desserts. To sum up, yes I have a sweet tooth. The presentation of their cakes (round, that can serve several people, 6' inch) are very ordinary. It looks like the cake that you get from any any grocery stores. It just doesn't look special. Not picture worthy. So now going to the single serving cakes. They have a good number of selections. When I came there were many selections left. I ended up going with the Diablo Torte. The presentation looks a lot nicer. If you put the single serving cake and the round 6 inches cake together, you would have no idea they are from the same bakery. I came really late in the day (around 5:30). I noticed that they were wrapping the cakes in saran wraps. I guess there is no guarantee that the cakes are made fresh on the day. So going back to the Diablo Torte. It was flourless and at first my concern was it being very dense. It wasn't dense but at the same time, it was not fluffy either. The cake wasn't super fresh. The cake kind of crumbled as I poke my fork into it. The chocolate on the top cracked (not a major concern for me). The chocolate in the cake wasn't as smooth and creamy as I hoped it. The cake seems to have a bit too much moisture in it. I am guessing the moisture must have been it sitting in the fridge too long. The Diablo Torte is a flourless cake and flourless cake requires a lot of skills to make. Yes the Diablo Torte does have the spicy cayenne kick. I wish it had more of the chocolate flavor. I have had really good cakes in the past. The cake I got is slightly lacking in flavor but still Decadent Brulee's Diablo Torte was not bad. The single serve cake itself was $7.09. Price vs taste! Not sure how they can charge that price. I mean at least it has a really nice presentation. The bakery is more of a grab and go place. There is only one table with 3 chairs. It would be difficult for a place for small talks. Also the place is quite small. I peaked into the kitchen and it seemed like the kitchen area is bigger than the area outside. Maybe, they get a lot of orders on cakes to go for parties. Yes they also serves coffee but from the looks of it, coffee is not their specialty. They also serves other pastries like cookies and etc. However, their cookies are not as delicious looking at some cookie specialty stores. It looked somewhat dry. I do want to point out that in Calgary there are not a lot of pastries and cake places. It is good there is Decadent Brûlée. Where I am from there are dime a dozen.
