I have the maintenance contract and during a routine inspection the technician wanted to show me something within the heating unit. There were 4 components that were clearly rusted. Enrinque advised me that although the unit was "running/operational" it was a safety hazard. Not only a risk of carbon monoxide but also a fire hazard should the areas that are rusted have a break. This was a Lennox unit that was 23 years old. Long story short, I have relative that is technician in this field. He did confirm that my unit was dangerous and I needed to replace it. I did replace with another Lennox. The installation team was great. They took care installing the unit and made sure the area inside and outside was clear of any debris. In the 23 years I have always had positive interactions with employees of Kingwood A/C and Heating, office staff as well as technicians. In fact, I think Sylvia has called me to set up appointments for routine maintenance checks. They had my money, it always impressed me that they would call me to make sure that the 2 yearly maintenance checks were done.

First: Competitors I got several estimates - My home warranty's contractor, Home Depot/ARS, a friend's husband, and Richmond's Air. Richmond's Air was the most reasonable price among all estimates, even the friend! He also took less than 30 minutes to take a look and give me an estimate. Home Depot was here for hours and gave me a presentation and ultimately an unbelievably high price which they later slashed by $4k when I said I wouldn't choose them. Still too high, also weird that they were gonna charge $4k extra? Second: Communication/Punctuality James told me a reasonable window of time that the team would arrive and also when they'd complete the job. They gave me a call beforehand to let me know they were running a little late, regardless the job was done on time (same day). They replaced everything but my furnace. Finally: Service The team was friendly and explained anything I asked about and even helped me install my new thermostat. They put a drop cloth down from the front door to the AC and left minimal dust or mess. They also gave me the manuals for the equipment as well as told me about the 10 year warranty. This was all a month ago and my AC has been working perfectly since and air quality reads way cleaner than when I moved in. Dealing with a broken AC in Houston is horrible and I highly recommend reaching out to Richmond's Air instead of wasting time shopping for multiple other quotes. Maybe get one other one and compare, you'll see the difference. Price, service, and quality were great. Would definitely call again for my next home.

When they arrived they were focused on trying to evaluate my air conditioning system rather than focus on the quote I requested. When the salesman realized he wasn't going to get any upsell wiggle room, he told me they don't do blown in insulation for less than three grand. This is more than every other company that offered quotes by as much as 50%. I would avoid based on the 'sales first' pushiness of the company. They are less interested in providing value to customers than pushing their sales. A company needs jobs to be profitable, but this is something else entirely.

He also explained the ductwork and why the construction would be as extensive as planned. Our ducts are original to our 1970s house, and there are all kinds of holes that are beyond repair. Between the time we scheduled our unit install and the actual date (8 days from now ), Madd Air has handled any issues we've had to ensure we are comfortable. Our unit ran out of coolant and needed to be charged, and Justin added enough to hold us over. Their prices are right in line with the market, and in my opinion, they do far more than what other companies with the same quote can offer. While the technician was professional, the estimate they gave was outrageous. The technician said I needed a new evaporator coil. If you look online, you'd be hard-pressed to find one for more than $1,000. He mentioned it would take two technicians and six hours to complete the job. Even if we assume the technicians charge $100 per hour (which is a stretch), that brings the labor cost to $1,200, and the total so far to $2,200. Let's add a 50% markup for the company, which brings the total to $3,300. That's still high, but they quoted me $4,980! Obviously, I shopped around and found a much more reasonable estimate--nearly 50% less from a reputable company. The bad business practice here is charging nearly $100 for the diagnostic, knowing the estimate was outrageous. You could literally build a business around giving inflated estimates with the sole intention of collecting diagnostic fees.

If I could give zero stars, I would…read more Royal AC delivered the worst service experience I've ever had -- and I don't say that lightly. Over the course of three weeks and seven separate visits, they repeatedly failed to fix our AC. On the very first visit, they convinced us to install a $350 part that clearly had no impact on the actual problem. We gave them multiple chances, but they simply never followed through. The situation escalated when their senior technician, Frank, fell through our ceiling during the fourth visit -- a literal hole in our home. (Photo attached.) Despite our repeated attempts to coordinate, they regularly missed appointments and routinely failed to answer phone calls -- both ours and those from our warranty provider. In fact, our provider couldn't transfer the case to another company because Royal AC wouldn't even pick up the phone to release it. To make matters worse, they closed the case multiple times with our warranty company, falsely indicating that the repair had been completed when it absolutely had not. I genuinely regret having to write this review. We were patient, we gave them chance after chance -- but Royal AC left us with no alternative.
