Every appointment is a min 2 hours! There's got to be a better system to see elderly patients!

We just felt no dignity in working in his office and mental torture almost every single day. I can't imagine how could such a person be a doctor! Whenever he has a young beautiful lady as his patient, he will spend more than half a hour in the patient room and keep all the other older patients who have arrived on time with their appointments in the waiting room, patients start to complain and this doctor never cares about that. He is a kind of doctor who will stare at any young beautiful lady's body from head till toe and look at girl's down there without even moving his dirty eyes. How dirty and disgusting he is as a doctor! Any girls who want to have their eyes checked by this doctor should be careful.

I would give 0 stars if I could. I absolutely would NOT recommend Dr Joseph Fan. I went to see him after experiencing foggy vision in one eye. It turned out I had bleeding inside my eye. Instead of trying to fix the problem immediately or recommending another specialist who could help he suggested we wait on the issue. After some time he finally decided to perform surgery. It failed and then he performed additional surgeries. He billed insurance for numerous surgeries but did nothing to help me. Four surgeries later I am left permanently blind in one eye. I would avoid this doctor.

We moved to OC, but we still drive 50 miles to see Dr. Wei in Monterey Park…read more * Dr. Wei always gives us the most precise prescriptions. Other optometrists offer more stylish glass frames, but their prescriptions were too low (cannot see clearly) or too high (get tired quickly). * Dr. Wei cares about his patients, and he spends time to talk to us. He also performs eye surgery, and he taught at UCI. * Dr. Wei has many patients. Please call 1 week early to make an appointment and expect to wait 30-60 minutes. We are glad we came here. 8-)

I was directed to Dr. Wei from another optometrist because I had an eyelid condition where the lashes on the bottom eyelids grew inwards rather than outwards. BIG MISTAKE coming here. We set up an appointment to get the procedure done. I was awake the entire time, but not drugged up enough. In the middle of the procedure, the drug wore off, I of course told them I feel pain and they decided to numb my eyes. It isn't fun seeing knives coming at you. I been coming to Dr. Wei for about 5 years and is still dissatisfied with the way they run their business. The staff here is rude and very unprofessional. When I had my stitches, they demanded that I take a pressure test for my eyes. HELLLO, my eyes were swollen from the surgery. Buying contacts from them is a pain. They charge you an inconsistent "fitting fee" that ranges from $25-$40. When I asked for a copy of my prescription, they refused too give it to me until I paid that fee. Then an older lady (the wife) kept trying to convince me to buy contacts from them. I got annoyed of them hassling me so I purchased the contacts from them. However, I still never got a copy of my prescription. The reason why I stayed with Dr. Wei was because of my condition. When I got the procedure done, years later -- I noticed I had to get it done again because it was done incorrectly. When I went back and mentioned it to Dr. Wei, his response, "Just wear contacts and it won't bother you". Does it look like I want to wear contacts my entire life?! No. I had to go to a specialist to get my procedure done again. I ended up paying thousands of dollars to get it professionally done due to this mistake. By the way, when I ordered my contacts, they didn't even have it in stock. I would not recommend coming here, it was a waste of my time.

Then when complications (including a trip to the ER) set in and months without much progress, he blamed me, refused to listen, and said over and over "give it more time." He kept defending himself until finally when I told him I still couldn't see clearly, he said simply, "Yes you can." He failed to take responsibility. When I asked for a refund, he just laughed and said he'd think about it. But he's never tried to contact me. J & J who makes the multifocals said the only way I can get a refund is if the original surgeon removes the lenses. Bottom line: Dr. Huang seems to care more about money than the well-being of his patients. He's a good surgeon--the lenses were put in correctly--but a second doctor I went to said he "undersells" the multifocals. Now my vision is worse than before (one good thing--I no longer have cataracts) but I had to buy new reading and distance glasses. I'm out $6,000 plus another $1,300 for new glasses. Plus the time and trouble, pain and annoyance. And Dr. Huang has disappeared.

I was recommended to take my dad here for his cataract surgery because this place/doctor is widely…read moreadvertised in the Asian community. Whether this doctor is the best in town is unknown but this place does take all type of insurance, including medi-cal, so there are a lot, a lot of seniors here. One good thing about this place is that they have a full staff who speak Mandarin, Cantonese and English. They provide specific instructions and will also call you in advance to confirm your appointment. Although my dad's cataract surgery was a success, I'm giving it a 3 because of the location of the facility, cleanliness and service. Located inside an old, dirty building where the elevator lights are broken. Thankfully, the elevator works because a good majority, if not all, of their patients are seniors and/or handicapped. Could you imagine if the elevator doesn't work?!? The main reason for the low score is that the wait is super, duper long. They ask you to come back the next day for a follow-up but then you can't make an appointment, which sucks because the walk-in takes FOREVER. Even on a weekday! When asked how long it would take, the staffs wouldn't answer, because hey, they don't want to be honest with you. The honest answer is that it could take HOURS. Ridiculous. Seating situation sucks also. Limited seating so people were waiting standing up for a real long time. Sigh. If you're looking for a Chinese cataract surgeon for your parents, then you're limited and may end up coming here. When you do, take above into consideration when they ask you to come back for a follow-up.

I felt I have a contact stuck in my left eye…read more Dr. Wong saw me today and said there is no contact found and there are nothing wrong with my eyes. I went home and felt the edge of a disk again. I went back to show him and he did another examination. Still he said there was no contact. I said okay, but what was it? It is still not normal to feel an edge of a disk over my eyeball. The doctor snapped off and yelled "I told you there is no contact! I told you ten times! What do you want me to tell you?" I said: "Doctor, you have to calm down! I know there is no contact, but I was asking what it was!" He said, " that was your hallucination!" OMG, I took off. Got seen by an optometrist later He diagnosed me with inflammation from allergy. I have swelling from the inflammation underneath eye membrane and that was what felt like a contact.

He does a very thorough exam every time and makes sure everything looks good with your eyes. I also appreciate that he's helped me out with extra contact packs when I've been running low. I've been seeing Dr. Chang for about 7 years now, great doctor always a good experience…read more My contact lens prescription expired 3 months ago (apparently they only are good for one year) and I just wanted to reorder another box until my next annual appointment in a few months. I looked up that sometimes they can do a courtesy extension of the prescription if your vision has been stable and have no issues. I asked for such an extension but was told multiple times I would have to get another contact lens exam for $160 (out of pocket) in addition to the cost of the lenses. I think that as a long time patient they should be able to accommodate such an easy request, since I would be getting my annual exam soon again anyway. It's not easy to schedule an unnecessary exam especially with a busy schedule, just to get a box of contacts. Bottom line loyalty doesn't seem to count here and maybe it's time to switch optometrists.
