The FAA requires pilots have a physical exam at prescribed intervals based on the type of pilot certification held. Because I am a Captain for a major airline, it has to be every six months. Once a year I have to provide test results based on the prescribed elements of my medical certification. Every year, Dr. Murthy puts me at ease with his wonderful bedside manner and his own personal knowledge of the system since he is an advanced pilot himself with actual jet experience. Thanks to his very thorough care and excellent staff, I have satisfied the FAA with flying colors on my tests. I take one eye drop at night based on his orders and it is doing the trick! My pressures are well within the FAA's guidelines along with my field of vision tests. I was so impressed with his care that I sent my wife to him and he put her at ease regarding her concerns about her vision after a thorough exam. Salute to Dr. Murthy and a Bravo Zulu as well@!

Disappointing First Experience With Rosemead Eye Center…read more This was my first time calling Rosemead Eye Center because I was interested in becoming a new patient. I had heard good things about Dr. Lai through online searches, so I was hoping to confirm what insurance they accept and how to use my medical insurance for an eye exam. Unfortunately, the experience fell short right from the start. The person who answered the phone, Sam, was impatient, unfriendly, and noticeably rude when I asked basic questions. Instead of helping guide me through the process, as any medical office should, especially for new patients--she sounded irritated and dismissive. It honestly doesn't matter how good a doctor may be if the first point of contact treats people this way. A front desk representative sets the tone for the entire practice, and this interaction was a complete disservice to Dr. Lai and to potential patients like myself. I ended the call feeling unwelcome and unsure if I should even schedule an appointment. Customer service matters, especially in healthcare. Sadly, this was not a good first impression.

Dr. Bhatti is not only incredibly knowledgeable but also kind, patient, and attentive. He takes the time to explain everything in a way that's easy to understand and never makes you feel rushed. It's rare to find a doctor who combines such remarkable skill with genuine compassion. The staff, especially Fannie, is just as wonderful--friendly, organized, and super knowledgeable. The office itself is clean and modern, and you can tell that everyone there truly cares about their patients. Thanks to Dr. Bhatti, my vision and peace of mind have both improved tremendously. But in Dr. Bhatti's office I found a warm, caring, and competent physician whose mission is to provide the utmost in care. My eyes required several treatments which he spread across a few appointments as there was too much work to be done in each session. With each interaction, I found an attentive, concerned, and thorough doctor delivering the specialized care for which I came. After the work was complete (laser tacking of the thin/damaged areas of the retina) I have been coming for routine follow-ups to ensure that there is no further degradation. The office is well-run, and the staff are all friendly and capable. I can handily recommend Dr. Bhatti's office for anyone who requires this specialized care. We only have two eyes, and it's comforting to know that mine are being so well watched over.

The staff that is in the main lobby is attentive and helpful when you first enter for an appointment. I have had eye problems and they've always assisted me in making sure that I was checked in properly. Identification, Medicare, and insurance are asked for at the beginning of your appointment. I've always found it helpful to arrive early for an appointment to make sure that there is time to adequately fill out new paperwork. I was able to find a chair to wait to be called in to an office to check my eyes and update my medications. I then waited in another waiting room for specific tests needed to be administered before I saw the doctor. There is an interior waiting room available to wait to be called to the doctor. The doctor that I visited was Dr Chu. He came in and went over the charts and examination results with me. I was impressed by his thorough concise report. When we were finished, he set up the next appointment. All in all, it took about a little more than an hour for the entire appointment. There was quite a waiting list so I understand having to wait for some appointments. There is parking available for this office on the side streets as well as underground parking. Parking is not free. But is usually available in the parking garage underneath. This office exceeded my expectations. I expect my next visit to be as productive as this one.

Some of the staff also wears gloves. They definitely do when examining their patients. There are some hand sanitizers available for patients to use. This place is open and available with no limited capacity. They are not sanitizing in between patients. COVID-19 Vaccination Proof: This establishment currently does not require proof of vaccination. While I was here in this establishment today with my dad, I asked if they had any special offers and they weren't offering any at the moment. They also do not allow pets in their establishment UNLESS it's a service animal. Parking: The parking lot for this establishment is decent. It isn't too big nor too small. Parking spots are okay as well. Establishment: I had to bring my dad here today for his follow up appointment. He has been coming to see Dr. Chao for some time, and he really likes this place. My dad said that the doctor was really patient and thorough with explaining all that goes on during a cataract surgery. He said that the doctor also took some time going over other options if he refused to undergo the cataract surgery. Due to the doctor's experience and expertise, my dad decided to go through with the surgery at Concourse Diagnostic and Surgery Center. My dad's surgery went smoothly, and his follow up appointment also went well. Overall, this was an excellent outcome. I would highly recommend Dr. Chao for anyone who is interested in getting cataract surgery. The establishment itself is very clean, neat, tidy, and organized. Excellent location as they are near the gold line and have plenty of parking in the back. The security guard at the front was nice and helpful letting us know what time the office is opened and that we could wait in the lobby until they opened. The staff is very nice and helpful to their patients. Very easy to talk to them. The plus was they were able to speak Chinese (Mandarin)to my dad. The technician was efficient and checked his vision, eye pressure (with a tono pen), checking pupils, extra ocular motility (EOM) and getting a complete chief complaint and asked if reading was an issue (which is was not). The one thing I would have checked is confrontational fields, but other than that she did an excellent job. She then proceeded to dilate his pupils and explained to him about the process and the expect his near vision to be blurry due to dilation and to wear sun glasses when outside (due to increased incoming light from pupils being dilated). She performed imaging to check the macula and retina and optic nerve. We then saw Dr. Chao who is a fantastic physician performed a thorough exam and explained to my father about cataract surgery in Chinese, explained what she saw and how bad his cataracts were and asked him specific questions about his vision and discussed the different lens options available and which my father would like to receive. (Standard lens usually set for distance and would require glasses for reading or one can opt for a multifocal lens where you don't need to wear glasses but this type of lens is not covered by insurance and would be out of pocket). Dr. Chao is an ophthalmologist who specializes in Glaucoma (treats patients with high eye pressure which can lead to blindness if left untreated) and is also a cataract surgeon and comprehensive ophthalmologist (sees patients for any eye issues and can refer out to specialists as needed). Then we scheduled a surgery date and will need to see his primary care physician (PCP) for clearance will need to return for a follow up appointment to get his biometry measurements for the lens prior to surgery. My dad was happy with his first visit and looks forward to his follow up visit.
