Super grateful for the fix on my front tooth. When I was 12, my chin hit my sisters shoulder on a big trampoline and half my front tooth fell out. It hurt so badly the first time it was fixed I was really scared to get it fixed this time, but couldn't put it off any longer since it was about to fall out. The first time I got it fixed I was screaming and crying and one of the staff at the place that fixed it came and held me down. It was actually traumatizing.... I am not normally one to hop on yelp and write a review but I felt compelled to after my experience with this Dr. Yudin. A little insight on my situation is that I am 42 yrs old and had never been to a dentist that I could remember. Over the yrs, my friends would all have some story about a bad experience they had with their dentist so naturally I now feared the dentist. Well I recently had a traumatic accident where I busted out my two front teeth, one of them knocked loose and the other one was just hanging on by a thread. A co-worker recommended this dentist to me and I had no choice but to finally face my fears and go to the dentist. Its a family run business, the wife runs the front of the house and the husband the back. I walk in and start filling out the paperwork, I am still in pain from the accident, I was super anxious and dont forget, terrified to be there. As I am waiting my turn to go in, Kelly (the wife) could see that I was nervous and started chatting it up with me. We obviously talked about what happen to me but also but other random stuff. She made me feel at ease and kept reminding me that they were going to make things better. Kelly is AMAZING!! I get to the back and this is my first encounter with Dr. Yudin. He takes a look at the x-rays, looks in my mouth, takes a seat next to me and starts telling me whats going on. Dr. Yudin definitely gets to the point but he does it with compassion and understanding of the situation. Fast forward, I have had a total of 6 teeth pulled, (front one really fell out) one root canal, two teeth cleanings and a temporary retainer for my front tooth. Dr. Yudin has been wonderful through it all. He talked me through everything and always made sure I was comfortable during each procedure. Not once was I in pain or have any issues. Excellent all-around! I highly recommend him. I've been to a lot of different dentists, and Dr Yudin is one of the best. The actual dental work (and oral surgery) he performed for me was top-notch, and totally painless. He also has a great chair-side manor. and made sure to explain everything he was doing, and why, and gave good instructions for me as the patient. He even went the extra mile and responded to my questions via text message (I even sent him a picture of a tooth so he could give me an opinion on whether or not I needed to come in sooner than planned). read more

I didn't enjoy any part of my experience at this dentist office. I had to wait a half hour while in the chair which I can forgive, traffic sometimes sucks. However, then I was told on first appt without x rays that I had two new cavities, two old cavities that need to be replaced, and that I need a mouth guard to stop grinding my teeth. I felt like I was being sold things I didn't need. Went back to my old dentist, had one cavity done and felt like he actually cared about my dental health, not just making more money. Also, the hygienist barely cleaned my teeth. She forgot to do the top section and when I reminded her, insisted that she did. Crappy service and the focus on taking advantage of patients means this is a place to avoid. Confusing as I saw a positive review of him on some dental site. read more

"How do you thank a dentist who gives you your smile back?" Thank you, thank you, thank you! There is absolutely no reason to rate Dr. Yudin lower than 5 stars, from his kindness and thoroughness to his genuine sense of care, talent and generosity. I've seen Dr. Yudin for basic checkups, cleanings, cavities, extractions and consultations including implants and whitening. He maintains two offices, one in San Francisco and one in the East Bay as a matter of convenience for his patients that as you can imagine is often not a convenience for him. The way you can tell your dentist cares about you is in the level of attention to detail; the little things like allowing you a moment to prepare for shots and dental work, x-rays and post-op to compose yourself before checking out. Dr. Yudin has always checked on me before, during and after a procedure and explained everything in great detail. I saw Dr. Yudin today for corrective surgery and he went out of his way to take care of me after fitting in an emergency client earlier in the morning. He and his assistant had to postpone their lunch to do so and without complaint. He spent 3 hours with me down to the finest detail to return my smile to better than when I arrived. Not only did he fix my tooth but he adjusted my entire smile - no, really! After fixing my tooth he made adjustments to the surrounding teeth to make sure everything was proper and balanced, including repeated checks and adjustments on my bite to accommodate changes because of the filling and since he last saw me. On top of all of that, Dr. Yudin did all of these things and did a thorough check of the rest of my fillings and dental issues to ensure I was OK until my next check up. His assistant/hygienist/girl-Friday whisked me in, took care of all of my jumbled insurance issues, and on my way with a smile and a thank you. Do your smile a favor and see Dr. Yudin for your dental needs. If you haven't seen him before, you'll be sure to see him again and again after. If you've left his care for whatever reason I'm sure you realize after the fact that you're not going to find a better dentist in the Bay Area - it's OK, we all make mistakes, go ahead and get back to see him and he'll treat you like you had never left. I can't say that I've ever felt like "looking forward" to seeing my dentist but in this case, I wouldn't trust my smile to anyone else. read more

I think Dr. Yudin does a great job on this big-ol-scaredy cat. He is gentle and talked me through everything while having cleanings, fillings and a crown replaced. I needed a lot of work since I did not go to a dentist for about 2 years since the last one was ...lacking in service but that's my fault. I was very satisfied with the suggestions Dr. Yudin made as he fixed some old problem-ed fillings (10years +) that I thought I just had to live with. I found everyone at the Oakland office to be nice, helpful, and accommodating to my needs and not at all pushy with service. Also of note is the fact that even after all of the work I've had done, the pain the next day was minimal or non-existent. I have rarely experienced this even with other very good dentists. If it's time to go to the dentist, go see Dr. Yudin! read more

I don't recommend Dr Yudin. Sure, if you have a simple cavity to take care of, I'm sure he can handle that. Anything other than that...DON"T GO HERE! I had a root canal and a crown done with him years back. Apparently he didn't remove the whole nerve, he left about 2 mm behind. It is now infected, eating into the root of my tooth. I have to have a very painful and expensive procedure done by another doctor to fix Dr Yudin's mistakes. My parents also had to have Dr Yudin's work redone and fixed. I would suggest you find a more competent dentist. read more

I went in for a cleaning and to have a crown put on. No problems, he was gentle and I thought all was well. However, the crown was not put on properly and caused discomfort. Instead of going back, I went to another dentist who is going to fix the poorly done job. read more

While I found everyone at the office *extremely* accommodating and nice, I had an experience very similar to David L. I went in for something routine, and left with the strong message that it was absolutely urgent for me to have very expensive re-do work and the same mouth guard for grinding. Was it really necessary? This didn't feel right to me, so I went to have a second opinion (we're talking serious out-of-pocket here, even with insurance). The other dentist, who had lots of positive reviews on Yelp, was very good, and just didn't see any urgent need for such work. So, I cannot say that Yudin is bad, or was wrong - read this review carefully. I'm just saying that he seems to treat aggressively, more so than most dentists, and more than other dentists would recommend. read more

A lot of folks might find Dr. Yudin a little rough on the edges, but that's okay with me. He didn't try to upsell me on any procedures and prices are cheap. His my dentist's dentist, so that should tell you something. I have been seeing Dentist Yudin for past three years now and he is the only dentist I have trusted. He has done fillings, root canals, and all 4 wisdom teeth extraction and I have never felt pain during the procedures. He explains what he is doing and the staff is very supportive. My family and I have been his patients for last 15 years, never had any problems. Quality work with attention to details. For anyone who believe service is unnecessary, simply should understand each doctor has own "safety net". As example, some doctors believe 4mm filling can be done and take a risk, while other think it is to big and teeth can crack and use crown. As other example, before I did my eye lasik procedure I visited three reputable offices and had three different opinions what method should be used for correction and expected result. read more

My regular dentist (Dr. Young in Albany -- also a great dentist) sent me to Dr. Yudin to have a molar root canal and wisdom teeth removed. Dr. Young's office told me that they have been sending patients to Dr. Yudin for complicated procedures for more than 10 years. Now I know why! Dr. Yudin is incredibly skilled and gentle. He explained what he would be doing during each of the procedures and I was comfortable both times.
