I have been going to Dr. Cavalli since I was an undergrad student (since 2017!). He's always graciously taken care of me. I grind my teeth heavily while sleeping, so I had to get multiple root canals and crowns. Dr. Cavalli referred me to an excellent endodontist Dr. Razai, and Dr. Cavalli will take care of my crowns. I appreciate his careful approach to dentistry, his kind easygoing manner, and his focus on one patient at a time. In terms of attention to detail, he successfully fixed a front-tooth filling that kept chipping because my last dentist didn't do a great job. She had filled it twice and it chipped both times, once while eating a grape, a relatively harmless act. My insurance wouldn't continue to cover work on the same tooth, which meant my second filling on my front incisor was out of pocket. After my switch to his office, Dr Cavalli actually filled the tooth correctly (third time's a charm!) and got insurance to accept the procedure as necessary. I was so impressed! I waited weeks for this appointment, woke up at 4:30 AM to make it to a 6:00 appointment, and it was an absolute waste of time. All this dentist did was scrape some plaque off my teeth and take X-rays. That's it. He didn't address any of my real dental issues. I came in already knowing I had two cavities, yet he lied and told me I had none. When I specifically asked about the cavity on my upper left, his response was, "How did you know that was there?" -- this was after he had done X-rays and claimed everything looked fine. He didn't evaluate my gum health, didn't mention my crooked teeth, didn't talk about the spacing between my teeth, and completely ignored the chips on my front teeth that I told him bother me every single day. Instead of providing actual care, he brushed me off and sent me on my way. Honestly, I got the impression that he took one look at me -- queer, face tattoos, maybe assuming I didn't have money or good insurance -- and decided I wasn't worth his time. I'm used to being treated poorly because of how I look, but I didn't expect that kind of discrimination from a dentist. If you want real care, go somewhere else. Poor business practices. I called and asked if they were accepting new patients. They said "Yes". We picked a date (3 months away) for an appointment. They took all my information. When we got to my insurance, they said "Oooo, sorry, we haven't taken that insurance in over a year". I thanked them for their time then proceeded to call my insurance to find out why they were listed as a provider. When the insurance company called them the next day they were told that the office was not accepting new patients. Which one of their statements was LIE? read more

Dr. Cavalli is an excellent dentist with very reasonable prices. I first went to him last year after he was recommended by my mother. He has since done cleaning, X-rays, fillings, and fitted a night guard for me. Dr. Cavalli is professional, efficient, punctual, friendly, gentle, definitely seems to know what he is doing, and does not oversell procedures. He does cleanings himself (no hygienist) and is exceptional at administering novocaine. Fillings and cleaning here are the most pleasant I have received at any dentist. My prior dentist had opined my orthodontic retainer probably should be replaced. Dr. Cavalli determined it looked fine as it was, which was good to hear. The receptionist, DeAna, is also very competent, professional, and friendly. In addition, there is a free parking lot where I have always found a space. The office was accepting new patients so I booked an appointment.... The first available was 2 months out! But the reviews on this dentist are good so I waited. Then one day before my appointment I receive a call that I need to reschedule and if I am available for 630pm that Friday, instead of the original 3pm. I am a working mother of 2 so that did not fit my schedule especially so suddenly. The assistant said she would follow-up with me the following week and never called me back. Love Dr. Cavalli! I absolutely HATE going to the dentist!!! I think it stems from when I had braces (talking mid 80's) never got over the trauma, so I didn't go back to a dentist until I was almost 30!!!!!!! Fast forward 10+ years, moved to the East Bay, need to find a new dentist. Dr. Cavalli had good Yelp reviews and accepted my insurance, so I grudgingly made an appointment. Now, admittedly, I wasn't too thrilled pulling up to an older building and walking into an office that was a bit small, dated, and sparsely decorated. HOWEVER, the receptionist was super sweet and Dr. Cavalli walked right up and took me back to the exam room, which has everything needed for an exam. Nice, clean, modern equipment and a great window that lets in so much natural light and a great tree outside with birds singing! He doesn't have a dental assistant, Dr. Cavalli does everything. He gets right to business and has such an easygoing personality. He's honest, tells you exactly what needs or doesn't need to be done, knows if you're brushing and flossing correctly, answers questions thoroughly and sends you on your way, with sparkling clean teeth, in under an hour. Super helpful. I was so stressed because a piece of my front tooth literally went missing. I'm from SouCal, so I was in between flying home to be seen quickly (which, if it was something like a root canal issue, would only add to the cost), or trying to find a place up here that wasn't shotty and could see me ASAP. First off, it's a small, neat dentist office in a larger dental building. Both the lady at the front desk and Dr. Cavalli were super nice and understanding. When I conveyed my stress over the phone about my tooth, even though they were full they were able to fit me in for a quick check up. I'm truly great full for that. Although I was super stressed about school and the missing chunk of my front tooth, Dr. Cavalli really helped to dissuade my stress. Just a super calming dentist. It turned out to just be an enamel issue that wasn't an emergency, so I ended up saving a lot of money by not going home. I don't usually write reviews but I felt I should this time . I went to Dr Cavalli for 2 problems: 1) another dentist had recommended I replace a gold crown that had a small hole on the top of the crown, cost- $1100. I went to Dr Cavalli for a second opinion. He said the crown still fit well except for the hole. He recommended a filling to seal the hole, cost-$100. I had him do it and the original crown is fine. I could not believe how honest he was. 2) a crown had come off- he diagnosed the problem, gave me 2 options but recommended one over the other because it saved my tooth. He explained the pros and cons of both options. My experience there was really good and he was very friendly, not like some dentists I have been to. He actually seemed to care. I went to Total Health Dental- they recommended a crown for $1900 and 7 fillings for $300 each. I wanted a second opinion- Dr Cavalli had great reviews and was in my insurance network so I saw him. The crown was needed because of a crack but he charged only $ 814, $ 1186 less than Total Health ! He felt I needed only 2 fillings, not 7, and they were only $ 147 each. He explained why I needed the work and why he thought the other fillings were not needed.I was impressed. Just when we thought Doctor Cavalli could not be a better dentist, once again he has impressed! I ventured out to my dentist for the first time in this age of Covid-19. I am a senior citizen, and have taken all the precautions not to become a carrier of the virus. Let's just call me a little paranoid... Dr. Cavalli's already pristine solo practice has been outfitted with a shield for his assistant Deanna's desk, there are air purifiers and sanitizers in each room, plenty of hand sanitizer, and patients come in (they must wear masks) one at a time. Each area is sanitized after patient use. Once you are inside Doctor Cavalli is his delightful, optimistic self... skilled, careful and knowledgeable, kind, and always willing to go to bat for your teeth! He's probably the best dentist at using Novocain effectively that I've ever encountered. I never feel any pain. Deanna, his assistant, is efficient, and a very kind person. This practice gets my highest recommendation! One recent example to show this man's character. He was putting on a crown for me and he noticed that the lab had made the crown one shade too dark. I never would have noticed, frankly, until later. But Dr. Cavalli, being the consummate professional, told me and sent the crown back to the lab to get it done in the right shade at no cost to me. I've had numerous traumatic experiences at other offices when I was younger, but Dr. Cavalli was able to do everything quick and painless, and he ultimately eliminated my fear of seeing the dentist. I've seen Dr. Cavalli for a number of years, maybe 10 to 15. He is now a friend who has earned my respect and trust. He has never failed to maintain this relationship because he is explicit about what he is going to do, then gets it done in lightning speed with as little pain and oral invasions as are possible. As a result, I have a mouth full of healthy teeth that will continue to work extremely well long after I leave Earth. At least it seems that way to me. How did all this happen? When the call for more expertise was necessary, such as lab work for a new crown or, an endodontist for a root canal or, an oral surgeon for my new implants, I made new friends in those dental fields too who deserve their own Yelp review. Not done here. But I'd give them the same positive words as I'm attempting to do now for Cavalli. Back in the Doc's chair, I hear him through his hygienic blue mask, "Now, take a deep breath. Hold it!" And then he continues, "We'll just tease the novocaine in exactly where we want it. That's it!" He says it again with some extra emphasis and glee, "That's it!" I've been going to Dr. Cavalli for almost two years and highly recommend him. He's super nice, thorough, and doesn't do work that you don't need.
