I've been enjoying Yucas since 1989 when I moved to Los Feliz. The owners are friendly and they have a great product line on their Menu. Their smiling father, who is now gone, mother, and the "two girls" handled crowds from their still going, tiny shop. I was jazzed when I saw them open another shop in Pasadena on fair oaks. Everything is delicious and fresh, the burritos and tacos are always "jugoso" and napkins are in order, especially if you eat slow! Yucas has remained a constant in Los Angeles which naturally has changed over the decades, I don't get over to Los Feliz often but always happy to see Dora and Margarita at the Pasadena location. Mom is still at it in Los Feliz from what I hear. Super nice people who work in Pasadena. This is a treasure of a place. Do yourself a favor and go enjoy a treat, very limited outdoor seating but since it is raining I just say my in my car and enjoyed my Two heavenly tacos! Great place, food and people. read more

I'm a decades-long patron of the Los Feliz Yuca's on Hillhurst Ave and have eaten many many many of their famous asada burritos, back from when they were $3.95 a piece. Over the years, the quality has remained, and I will still keep a-coming, even though they're about triple the price. Should they be? They're not very big, there's no sides. . . and LA is chock full of amazing, low-priced authentic cuisine from the southern America countries. Well, bite into an original Yuca's asada burrito and you'll understand. It's become an LA staple, like Zankou's chicken, and their prices reflect that. (As well as, I'm sure, rising costs over the years). And it makes $12 burrito sense. I've only been to this Pasadena location once, and I have to say: these look and smell like those beloved burritos, but they don't taste the same. It may behave been an off-day in the kitchen, but the recipe has been so consistent, I doubt that. They didn't have that deeply satisfying dimension of flavor, and frankly seemed frustratingly bland. I even tried to add the salsa and jalapeños (that comes on request) to liven it up - but no, I got a dud (well, a few duds in this batch. We got the Asada burrito, bean and cheese burrito and asada bowl). I'll try my local Yuca's again, but probably not the Pasadena branch . . . I'd rather test my luck with a random LA taco truck. I'd give it 3 stars, but not at full price - so sadly it gets 2 today. read more

Went back to this location 5 years after we first visited Yuca's in LA (near Griffith). It was just as good and it was excellent. I was worried when I saw that the menu had expanded quite a bit and there were too many options and I thought they might have gone downhill in the expansion. But it was wonderful and everything was as I remembered it! My highlights are 1) the tortilla which is just perfectly structured, floury, not overly chewy or anything like that and 2) the simplicity of just having meat and beans in a burrito, which was just fantastic. top 5 burritos ever for sure. I'm usually a Carne Asada burrito guy, but someone told me that Yuca's has an excellent burger as well. I finally tried it out and I will never doubt that person's words ever again! I like a no frills, old school double cheese burger. Yuca's delivered. The patties were well seasoned without being too salty and cooked perfectly. It was so tasty and juicy. I wanted to like this little corner location but I had the worst Torta de Milanesa in my entire life at this restaurant! $8 and something for chopped onions, tomatoes, lettuce and the breaded steak. Nothing more. No beans, no sour cream, no avocado, no cheese, no jalapeños not even salsa!! Just a plain dried torta in a hotdog bun. The steak was really dry to were it was difficult to chew. This is like a low budget meal that I can simply make at my house. After taking that picture, I couldn't take another bite so I ended up tossing it away. By the time I took the first bite, I was long gone from the restaurant since I travel a lot for work or else I would of spoken to someone in charge. I might of gotten the wrong item since their reviews are pretty outstanding on here but then again, the meat was just poor quality in opinion. Tried the Machaca Burrito today w/green salsa. No changes. Cost $11.50 plus tax and tip. Was it worth it? The shredded beef (Machaca) was plentiful and fresh & juicy. The pintos were well cooked--a little al dente, which I like. Pico de gallo salsa inside was fine, but I needed more. The green salsas were in those very small plastic containers. I needed twice that much. Maybe they'll give more (for free) if you ask. I didn't ask. Overall, I thought the burrito was good, but not great. The beef needed more seasoning and flavor. I liked the pinto beans, but I didn't like the tortilla much. Not enough chew, but it was fresh. Overall, I enjoyed the burrito, but for $11.50 I expected a bit more. I shouldn't say this--a sortof local place and all--but I think the barbacoa burrito at Chipotle [SoPas] is as good or better for a slightly lower price ($11.05). Mostly because they'll give you a lot of good salsa, including their corn salsa. The barbacoa is pretty well seasoned too. I have eaten at Yuca's before. I've tried the Cheese Burger (good, but not great) the Chili Cheese Dog (good) and a Pibil Burrito. I liked it and it was well-made but I'm not a fan of that seasoning taste profile. All the food I've tried at Yuca's has been fresh and well-prepared. But nothing I've tried has really WOW'd me. The people working there have always been nice and friendly to me. I ordered two cheeseburgers and cheese fries for pick-up through Yelp, which was an easy and straightforward process. My order was ready within 30-45 minutes and upon arrival, Yuca's was relatively busy. Parking was a bit tricky since Yuca's shared the parking lot with another business, but I luckily was able to find a spot. Both of the cheeseburgers and cheese fries were okay. Nothing special about them stood out to me, so I was a bit disappointed after getting recommended this by a YouTube channel. All in all, the food was all right. It's hard to find a good Mexican food spot in Pasadena that's authentic. Menu is plentiful with authentic taste, however the things we ordered were subpar at best. An hour before closing, was probably a bad call on my part but as a business you got to hold your standard through and through. Food was cold except the tortilla and bread, food seemed under seasoned and ingredients didn't seem today fresh. Possibly left out all day or day old. The only saving grace to make the food edible was their red salsa, the green salsa was watered down and needed salt. I just wasn't wowed and wish I went to Chipotle instead for the price, and at least it would be seasoned enough to my liking and portion would be more substantial. With that said I rather support a mom and pop shop, so writing this was tough. Maybe it was a bad day or bad time, but our dollars are also hard earned. read more

Here's the deal: If business or someone puts a menu on google and when you get to the actual business the prices are different, it's understandable. prices change, no problem. HOWEVER, if a business puts a menu over the cash register and displays prices and charges you MORE it's not cool. As customers we have no idea about the markup until we get the bill, so regardless of how much of a mom and pop store you are, the cost of your products must match your advertised prices. read more

Love the Machaca Burrito with avocado! They have excellent rice and beans too! I'm so glad they are in Pasadena. We were in need of an authentic Mexican food restaurant! The women who own and operate this restaurant are so sweet and I can tell they really are passionate and love their customers. First time visiting this Yuca's... I think they close around 8pm. I had gone to the original location many years ago. I was determined to try the signature family recipe cochinita pibil burrito. The staff was cool and let us try a small sample of that pork and also of the machaca. My bro and I both thought the flavor in the machaca (juicy, tasty, sinewy shredded beef w tons of flavor) was good. Staff said his favorites were the machaca and the carne asada. We got one of each burrito, split in two, some tortilla chips and guac. And I must say, their red sauce to me, frikking delicious. Def going back here often! read more

I can only base my review on the two experiences I have had with this establishment so far. The first time, I had the chicken tacos, which were okay, although seemed to be lacking in flavor. The second time, I had the chicken burrito with black beans and mozzarella cheese. This was much more enjoyable on its own, with more flavor. The nice man who took my order suggested I have samples of their salsas, and I gladly obliged. One was a green salsa, and the other was a fiery red salsa. Both were flavorful, but the red salsa had an immediate heat that the green salsa did not have. Definitely utilize the salsas if you enjoy some spice. I had a jamaica to drink with my burrito, which is always a good idea, and didn't disappoint. I look forward to trying many more things from this place. Be aware that seating is limited, due to the location, but there are some places to sit, if you want to enjoy your meal al fresco. It's adjacent to the liquor store, so head's up that if you are sitting at one of the tables by the entrance, you'll encounter customers getting beer, or teenagers getting Vitamin Water, and maybe even people taking advantage of the Bitcoin ATM that's apparently inside (?!?) read more

We have driven past Yucas many times in the past and finally stopped by to give it a try. This is a small storefront where you order at the window and then there are a couple of tables in the parking lot to eat at if they are available. The menu has a Yucatan influence. Today we focused on the tacos and choose a Pollo, Carnitas, and Conchinita Pibil. Each taco was wrapped in two corn tortillas with fresh pico de gallo. The pollo and carnitas tacos were good but not extraordinary. This was probably our fault because eating at a location with Yucatan influence means we should have focused on dishes with ingredients and tradition originating in the Yucatan. We realized this when we bit into the conchinita pibil taco. The seasoning was delicious pointing to how we need to amend our ordering approach next time we come to Yucas. I've been coming here time to time and usually get the burrito. Ordered Al pastor torta today and wish I didn't. The torta was not in a traditional bread and wrapped in a small baguette like roll. The portion was very small and the meat was cold. BOMB Carne Asada nachos! Loaded toppings on fresh thick real Mexican chips. Toppings included, cheese, asada, beans, onions, cilantro, and a mild guacamole sauce. First of all, let me tell you I was blown away at how delicious the simplest burrito was. I ordered the pork and carne asada burritos for my crew and myself and we all loved it, excellente!
