Sweet and sour ribs + garlic eggplant + sichuan chicken
Jackson L.

For a small restaurant, I do think they do a good job of running the place as a whole. The waiters are really friendly, and they are always smiling whenever they see me. If you can order from their secret menu, then generally you'll get better options at this restaurants. Other than that, it's just a quick takeout place The food is generally ok though, sometimes a little dry but still decent

Chicken Lo Mein
Ella K.

Literally the worst chinese food i've ever had. The lo mein was literally spaghetti noodles in a terrible soupy sauce, and for almost 15 dollars?! DO NOT order it. The shrimp had a strong fishy odor. The general tso's was average, abc if was best the item we had.

Orange Chicken

Large portion sizes. Flavor was okay. Could definitely use more heat in terms of spiciness. Very heavy meal (my husband and I were overly full after only eating half of our respective meals).

Sesame Chicken

Ordered take out from here and it was really good. I got the sesame chicken with rice and I enjoyed it. I heated it up the next day in the microwave and wasn't sure how the texture of the chicken would hold up, but it tasted like brand new!

General Tso's Chicken

Had a bunch of errands to run so I grabbed lunch from Yuan Ho today. The plus was that the food came out on time, the worker was nice and the order was correct, but other than that I probably wouldn't get food from here again. I got the general tsos chicken lunch with white rice an egg roll and a bottle of water. The general tsos was swimming in sauce and the chicken tasted kind of old and over fried, it was a little too crunchy. The egg roll was almost empty and had very little filling. The water bottle was the best part LOL. It was $10 for everything and I'd just rather go to Hong Kong for Chinese... or literally anywhere else in cville...

Sesame Chicken + Shrimp & Veggies Dragon & Phoenix

Ordering from this place was a huge regret. I'm disappointed in myself for putting faith in the five-star reviews. The only reason I'm giving 2 stars is because the order was accurate and the sesame chicken & egg rolls were decent. I tried Yuan Ho because it's inexpensive and offers a few things on the menu that aren't typically found at Chinese carryout joints. I also appreciate that they deliver directly instead of just through third-party apps. The pu pu platter sounded promising and was reasonable priced. Half of it was inedible. Literally the worst crab rangoons I've ever had - just fried dough filled with sour, runny cream cheese. No sweet flavor ... No flavor really, other than sour. The ribs were way chewier than I've had from any other place and totally lacking in flavor. The beef on a stick had a little flavor and was ooookay, but I wouldn't go so far as to say good. The fried shrimp looked so unappealing that I didn't even try one. My s.o. ate one and wasn't impressed. Like I mentioned earlier, egg rolls were okay. Super greasy and not packed with flavor, but probably the best part of the meal (thank goodness for hot mustard). Entrees & Soup: I almost always order vegetable bean curd soup if it's on the menu, so I was excited about trying this one. BLEH! It had a weird odor and literally tasted like sour, hot water with some sad looking veggies tossed in. No mushrooms, which in every other soup of this kind is what lends flavor and thickness. I tried loading it with Sriracha but still couldn't get past the weird, funky smell. The spicy chicken entree I ordered had great texture, but once again was completely lacking in flavor. There was no spiciness and even the onions and celery offered no flavor to the dish. It was like eating air. BF's entree was sesame chicken and shrimp w/veggies. Shrimp was no bueno, but the sesame chicken was the highlight of the entire meal. I don't even love sesame chicken, but since it was practically the only thing edible, I was all over it. We both went to bed unsatisfied and still hungry after this meal. I will definitely not be ordering from them again.

Mapo tofu (I ate a quarter of it already oops)
Tiffany L.

This is my go to chinese take out place. I usually order off the asian menu unless I'm eating vegetarian. The chicken and scallion is my favorite. It tastes the healthiest because it isn't drenched in sauce. But their soy sauce goes perfectly with the chicken and rice. I also like the asian style spicy chicken which comes with tofu. It's a bit oily but I love the flavors. This time I got the mapo tofu which isn't what I'm used to but it is still flavorful and comes with a good amount of mushrooms. Their lunch specials are so cheap and I usually order hot and sour soup or miso tofu soup since I order off grubhub. I would not recommend the steamed veggie dumplings, lo mein or fried rice. Everything else is decent.

Egg Roll
Nacele B.

I'm usually satisfied with my purchase but, today definitely ends any future orders. I ordered 2 egg rolls for $5.30 and I received egg roll wrappers with a HINT of filling. I know times are hard but, this right here tops all of my orders.

I love this place bc the food isn't greasy, which is rare for a Chinese place, and the prices are good.

We were in town and let Yelp guide us and we were not disappointed. This is a small mostly to-go…read morerestaurant in a strip mall. There are 3 tables inside, so we chose to eat in. I chose the Vietnamese sandwich. It was so tasty. Bread was toasted and crispy and the mix of chicken, pickled cucumbers and fresh herbs were great. My daughter ordered the bulgogi beef rice plate (with kimchi on side) and a strawberry lemonade with strawberry popping boba. She loved both. Food comes out fast. Overall excellent!

Very very nice lady (owner) and very helpful with the menu. - I had the chicken Pho ($16.50). I added the 2 included Hoisin sauce packets. It also came with a Sriracha sauce packet and a small container of chili oil along with the normal variety of noodles, sprouts, fresh herbs, green onions, white onions, jalapeño slices, and a lime wedge. The chicken was tender sliced white meat with no fat, gristle, or bones attached. The broth had a lot of flavor and was delicious. - I also had the shrimp and chive dumplings ($7.00). Not a strong shrimp flavor, but they had a nice crisp on the outside and were tasty. The sauce that comes with the dumplings is absolutely delicious. - My wife had the Bulgogi beef ($14.50). She said it was tender and very delicious. It came with rice, kimchi, and cucumber salad. I just happened to speak to Linh about the cucumber salad and she said this is how she's always made it for her kids and they love it. Well, I'm with her kids and love it too. She makes the vinaigrette herself and it has an unexpected sweetness to it instead of the usual strong vinegar flavor. We both loved it. - We had the pork gyoza ($7.00). This was cooked my favorite way, deep fried (not pan fried). This took me back to the gyoza in Japan and the Yaki Mandu I used to get in Korea. Great crispy wrapper with a tender flavorful filling. And again, the sauce that came with it is some of the best I've had. - The kimchi is not overly spicy and has a slight sweetness to it. - The Egg Tarts ($5.50) are good, not overly sweet. Could use a bit more filling for a better filling to pie crust ratio. - I also got a Chai tea bubble milk ($6.25) that was super delicious. Overall, we really enjoyed Nguyen's Kitchen and will go back with friends. It's unfortunate that it sits behind a Taco Bell and is not highly noticeable from the road, otherwise I might have tried it sooner.

The wonton soup tasted extremely salty and looked dark as if someone put soy sauce in it. This is the first time in my entire life where I tasted bad wonton soup. The won ton itself was great. It was just the salty broth. I make this at home, and it is not that difficult to make. It is supposed to be a simple broth (partly the reason why I ordered it because I wanted something simple). I told them about the saltiness. They tried to make it right by bringing out another soup with a better broth. The pho was just okay but was not as fragrant as expected. I am Vietnamese and make this at home as well. Otherwise, it had everything it was supposed to have. The fried rice was a large portion and tasted better than the other two dishes. Overall, it was a good experience. The service was good. We got seated quickly. The ambiance and decor was vibrant. The bathrooms were clean. I will try other dishes later and update this review.

I order the dumpling as an app, they're pretty small but you get a good amount and the sauce was really good. In order the red curry and my husband ordered the Thai fried rice. Both were really good. I liked his dish a bit more, it was very savory. The red curry had fresh vegetables in it and still had a nice crunch to it, which I like. If we're back in Charlottesville we'll def go back.
