I first called Your Handyman & Construction in late 2013 to see if they could reattach the cover to my outdoor cable box, put a new electrical switch in a closet and change a bulb too high for me to reach as spinal surgery prevented me from climbing a ladder. I worried that the jobs were too trivial, but the owner, Mark, came himself and was so professional that I realized they weren't kidding when they said they could do any job, no matter how big or small. Since that time I have used them for many jobs, both big and small including replacing a leaking shower valve, installing a new thermostat, installing a wall TV bracket, building custom shelving in the front hall closet and taking full charge for installing new quartz countertops in the kitchen, which involved ripping out the old countertops and installing the plywood bases for the new countertops, designing and building a bar for the pass-thru area, and installing all the new plumbing. In addition, their integrity wins praise from the local plumbing, electrical and appliance suppliers and once they know your contractor is Your Handyman & Construction, you can usually expect a discount. I am a real estate agent working with a seller who had repairs to do after a home inspection report. I called Mark because it looked like he had the right crew to do everything from simple handyman stuff to the electrical and plumbing items. One stop shopping is SO much easier than trying to get three different bids! In any case, he saved the seller a lot of money and said while the report mentioned some fairly minor things, most were working fine and were not really worth fixing just because code had changed. His prices were also quite reasonable and I especially liked the fact he would charge by the half hour after the minimum time was met. The seller ended up simply giving a credit to the buyer, and Mark would not let me pay him for his time and advice. Said it was part of the free initial consultation. So though I did not end up using him this time, I will absolutely put him at the top of my list for future clients and my own home. I work for a family that has contractors already that they use and trust and when I couldn't schedule them I reached out to Your Handyman. I left a message and within an hour I received a call back from the owner Mark and explained what I needed done. He politely explained what his company is all about and after I explained what I needed done he gave me some knowledge over the phone of some potential issues of why the problems occurred in the first place and some possible solutions. We made arrangements to meet at the property for some fencing issues. Mark was very polite, knowledgeable and seemed very trustworthy, which in my opinion, is the most important when it comes to having work done on your property. He explained what could be done and went back to office and shot me an estimate by email later that day. My employers gave the okay and Mark had the work scheduled for the next morning. I am a property manager in Montecito and used them for a quick fix for a move in when my regular guy (who is retiring) couldn't do the job. I will be switching to them for other stuff, as they were quick, efficient, did a variety of jobs so in the long run my company saved money than if we called out a plumber, handyman and electrician to prepare the unit for the next tenant. Mark and his team of technicians are the best! Each member of his team are friendly, skilled and committed to quality service. He recently had Todd come to my house to do some tough plumbing projects that I had put off for several years. Todd figured out the most efficient solutions and did the work cleanly and quickly. Earlier in the year we had a new downdraft oven/range installed, a task that most appliance companies refuse due to complexity. We have now had Mark work on various projects in our house over the last few months, and each time was great! We had all our faucets and showerheads replaced, some under-sink and toilets leaks repaired, and a new wrought-iron handrail installed off our front porch. I used Your Handyman to repair and update two bathrooms at my mothers home. Mark was great to work with. They charge by the hour so we choose paint, flooring, new mirrors, towel bars and toilets and delivered them to the house. Lew did a great job with installation. But the best part was how happy my 89 year old mother was because he was not intrusive but he was friendly and cleaned up after his work. We would definitely use them again.
