Then, after ordering the units (which took a few days understandably) , they did a great job installing them in less than a day. We can't talk about pricing because we were so frustrated by other contractors not even returning our calls and by the one who ripped us off (Goodland Plumbing by demanding a $150 up front payment for a quote and then never getting back to us with a quote), in the end, we were not in a position to seek out competitive pricing - tired of cold showers. They said "the boss will call you later". They finish the job, and a week later we receive a bill for over $2000! Obviously illegal, but it sounds like a pattern of theirs. California as Business Code 7159 clearly states they need to both provide an estimate and get a signature for work over $500. They did neither. We have filed a complaint with the California State Licensing Board.

Update: The owner contacted us today & he apologized for the misunderstanding for charging us a labor bill for $330.00 and said he would refund my check. When he left. after 3 hours, snaking kitchen line, and then, the tub and the shower line (which was fine to begin with), the kitchen line was blocked completely. I payed $900, and the problem was not resolved but worsened. I now cannot use the kitchen sink (and dishwasher) and have major repairement project on my laps. The Lewis plumber seemes to not know what he was doing. He forgot the equipment (large drain cleaner) in my shower, when I call them to take this out of my house he returned to get it, and after he left I had to srew in the drain opening myself. They charge $165 per hour, and he charged me for 4 hours work while he was only there for little over 3 hours. He lied on the invoice claiming the kitchen drain was blocked from the beginning. Shame on you, Lewis Plumbing. It's the most overpriced plumbing company in my area, and I came to them because my HOA recommended it. Now reading the reviews I see many people had bad experiences with them. I wish I researched them before choosing this company. An update: the company manager called and offered to send a technician at no cost to try to correct the issue. A senior technician came in and fixed the problem within an hour. He also brought back the check I gave them, and issued a new invoice, for $390, which seems very fair. The technician was super nice, and clearly very experienced. The bottom line: the company clearly stands up to its reputation, and makes ammends if anything goes wrong. Frankly, I did not expect this, and am more than happy with the resolution of the situation.

To make the job easier and save labor time, I completely removed the P-trap myself before the technician arrived, providing wide-open, direct access to the pipe. All the technician had to do was run a standard drill auger for a few minutes and screw the P-trap back on. Despite doing half the labor myself, I was charged a premium flat rate of $217.35. The invoice line item explicitly read "Kitchen Sink Stoppage / P-Trap" meaning I was billed a flat fee for labor I actually performed myself. When I called customer service to request a fair adjustment, I was met with rigid excuses. First, I was told they "cannot adjust a balance after completion" (which is completely untrue for a credit card refund). Then, when I asked about their heavily advertised $54 drain cleaning special, they claimed it only applies to outside drains--even though I provided the exact easy, proper cleanout access their promotion requires. It is incredibly frustrating to do the prep work to make a tradesman's job easier, only to be charged full price for services not rendered. I would love to update this review if management reaches out to fairly adjust this invoice, but as it stands, I cannot recommend them due to their predatory flat-rate system.
