It's been overdue over 3 months now. They been ignoring all the emails and phone calls. Be very carefully doing business with this company. If they treat employees and subcontractors like this how can they be trusted. They are in legal battles and might have another one regarding this balance.

I would not recommend HK Design & Remodeling to anyone due to my recent experience that I…read moreunfortunately had with them. Things started off bad with them arriving a week later than initially expected leading to allowing only five weeks to remodel both of our bathrooms. They were not reliable as they were always showing up later or leaving early completing maybe three to four hours of actual work which made planning around them very difficult. Their lack of effectively communicating led to misinterpretation of what we wanted leading to further delays and they were extremely messy. They did lay drop cloths on the carpet but we had to continuously clean up every time after they left. Wiping thin set off the door trim, handrails, sweeping/washing the floors and porch and vacuuming the carpets. I also felt really awkward when they brought one of their children to our house while working the job and had their got get loose running around our yard and trying to get into the house. The biggest issue was how they do progressive payments which are supposed to be based off the work that was completed stated in the approved proposal or scope of work. Chris presented the second invoice at the start of the third week to my wife and after I reviewed it, I noticed the majority of the charges were for work that was not yet performed or complete in accordance with the proposal. The work done in the shower started off to look good but quickly turned to a disaster once he started using the USG Durock waterproofing membrane. We did make a couple additions to the project but they seemed to use that as an excuse as to why they couldn't meet the deadline which I thought they knew from the beginning. I feel they just knew they were not qualified enough to accomplish the tasks at hand leading them to seize work and after a couple conversations to try to keep them going I knew they were done and quickly fell upon someone more qualified with the help of hiring a certified plumber and electrician to fix the things they completed that were not done to code. The jobs were to remove all existing fixtures, tile the floors, walls up to 4 feet and tile the entire showers. We paid a deposit to get booked onto their calendar on April 29, 2019 and thought they would be starting the work shortly after that. Chris informed me that they would be starting the third week of June and reassured that they be done on time. They fell behind and showed up the last week of June and immediately asked if July 31st was the hard deadline and I told them we needed to have the work completed no later than the end of the first week of August. They completed the demolition of the guest bathroom very quickly and interestingly left the wax ring for the toilet in place which they stepped on several times but never removed it? Chris told us his plan was to install enough tile on the floor and walls in order to get the vanity installed and out of the living room. We quickly changed that idea as we didn't want to chance our new vanity getting ruined and that was an excellent move on our part! The floor tile went in smoothly and was the first thing installed but the first tile as you walk into the bathroom was cut smaller and looked awkward because he laid the tiles from the back wall forward instead of laying it from the front to the back to hide that imperfection or laying out the design first and then cementing them in place would have provided a much more professional appearance. Once all the floor tile was laid, they never cleaned the floor leaving the thin set to dry and harden making it very difficult to clean up and never covered the floor to protect it while continuing to work on the walls. They ended up completed one wall which looked really good while the spacers and levelers were installed, but once removed you could clearly see the waves in the tiles where they used too much thin set in some areas making the tile bow in/out on the wall and the spacing was off as from 1/16' to ¼'. The back wall was partially completed and had the same inconsistency of thin set which had the same effects of waves in the tile. The one thing I really liked was the precision of cuts around the water fixtures. We asked for an additional outlet to be installed off to the side of the vanity and he wired it into the light electrical and it never worked. He cut a hole 4' x 12' below the electrical for the vanity light and secured it with two screws in the middle and it would wiggle around so I put a pie
