*** I wish I read the previous reviews before going here because we all have the same story. HUGE red flag*** I wouldn't go back after my experience there. I brought an old dress to get a simple hem; it was too long and so I just needed it taken up a few inches. They told me it would be $30, which I gasped and questioned because I was definitely not expecting a simple hem to be $30. I expected max $20. After 7 WEEKS, I got a text that it was ready. It's cash or check only which is so irritating, and then to top that they tell me it would be $50!! Y'all are out of your minds to charge people $50 for a straight, uncomplicated hem.. There are plenty of other places that have way quicker turn around time and more reasonable prices and who answer their phone. Would never recommend this place. The only positive is that they are English speaking and nice. I tried it on when I got home, and it's not even an even hem. Terrible experience. read more

I have nothing but a glowing recommendation! They staff was able to fix a problem with my mother of the bride gown and get it returned to me in such a quick time, all while being calming and reassuring that it could be fixed. Will never go anywhere else for alterations. read more

Frances is wonderful, and was great with my teenage daughter who was trying on a number of items. The shop was quite busy at the time we were in there, however, we were in + out without a wait. They were able to completely fix what I thought was an unfixable jacket with transparent fabric, yet it turned out beautifully. They also fitted a dress to my daughter that had a complicated hem. She offered a price upfront that I thought was very reasonable. Both items were completed in a timely manner, and the ladies in the shop were all very pleasant and helpful. read more

Don't laugh... I was actually looking for a tailor to alter a harness for my precious Teddy. Living right off Rifle Range Road, I decided to check out this small storefront. The store is as big as a thimble ... no pun, intended. They don't accept credit or debit cards. They don't provide dry cleaning or laundry service. So, how do they stay in business? It's because, they are all about alterations. That's all they do ... and from chatting with other customers in the store, they do it, well. The young woman who helped me understood exactly what needed to done to make the harness fit better. I was treated well. The job was ready on the appointed day. The alterations were done correctly. The price was fair. actually, reasonable. The parking is limited but since cars move in and out quickly, I didn't have a problem. I'll be back! read more

I took 2 pairs of pants to be hemmed. When I arrived they told me I owed $50 instead of the $30 printed on the receipt that I provided at pickup. When I inquired they said it was their error and they didn't mark 2 pairs of pants they only put 1 on my receipt. Additionally, I was told it would take 4 weeks to hem 2 pair of pants so I opted to pay the $10 rush fee as 4 weeks is a ridiculously long time for a simple hem. I understand making errors but I would have gone elsewhere had I thought hemming 2 pair of pants would be $50!! read more

I've lived in Charleston for over 6 years now and I haven't been able to find a tailor or alteration shop here, but I needed something hemmed within a week and despite them being busy they were able to complete my request within the timeframe. All the women there were very kind. I will be returning for future needs. read more

Quality work on a 3-layer bridesmaid's dress, but on comparing with the other bridesmaids I was charged more than $30 more than they were at other alteration places--and those places also steamed the dress, while mine returned wrinkled. Not a competitive price point and will be seeking out another option in the future. read more

I called last Wednesday and asked if I dropped off my dress the next day if it would be ready the following Thursday (7 days). She said yes. I got there and the young lady working asked when I needed it buy and I said Thursday (1 week). She said she didn't think that was possible until I told her I called yesterday and I was told it would not be a problem. I go to pick up the dress and I'm told A SIMPLE HEM IS $150!!! I will not be going back here. I have had multiple pageant and formal dresses hemmed and the most I've ever paid is $80. Not to mention it was cash or check only. Inconvenient and over priced. I'll take my business elsewhere and I suggest you do so as well. read more

My daughter dropped off 2 dresses and a pair of shorts to be hemmed at this establishment. Two weeks later she gets a text message the total is 216$ .. To my complete surprise, I called the shop and am told one of the dresses was difficult to hem and she would not work with me on the 90$ price . I have gotten lots of clothes altered in and around town , but have NEVER dreamed of paying that much. I do not recommend this place for alterations. read more

I brought a dress in to get hemmed as it was about two inches too long. I was surprised with the lack of customer service and the request for "cash only" before leaving my dress with the seamstress. For the hem, I was charged $30.00 (which is more than the dress is actually worth). I picked up my dress about one week later and noticed the uneven hemline along with a small hole on the side of my dress. I contacted the business but was told that the service was "not refundable". I have taken many clothes to this shop for alterations. They have always been extremely friendly and do very good work. They have always gotten my clothes back to me when they were promised and I have not had any problems whatsoever. I would highly recommend this shop for alterations. Had several items altered at this shop over a three year period. Work was always very good. Then I dropped off trousers that needed taking in aroung thigh area- ruined! Too much pant leg was taken in with excess material then cut from the trousers. Once cut, it was impossible to altered trousers for correct fit. Excuse was that my trousers were outsourced to an independent seamstress due to too much work coming into shop. No offer was made to replace my trousers. Out $80.00 despite asking for compensation for ruined trousers. Wrote this experience off. Never again will I go to an alteration shop that outsources work. read more

I have had a terrible experience with this alterations shop. I dropped off an item over a week ago and still have not received pricing information on my item. I've called 3 times to follow up and each time I'm told that only the owner can help me and she's never there when I call. She also never returns my calls. When I asked if my item was in the store so I could just pick it up and take it somewhere else--they said they had no way of knowing where it was and that it could actually be out of the shop at someone's home being worked on--that made me equally as uncomfortable. I brought in five dresses to be altered--they spent time with me on each one making sure they knew exactly what I was looking for. They took about two weeks to do all five dresses and I could not be happier!! Their work was impeccable and I will not hesitate to use them again...in fact, I have four or five more that need work so will go back soon! read more

I thought I'd finally found a tailor I could trust in Charleston but I was very obviously wrong. With a hurricane coming I begin to call the store and am unable to reach anyone only to find they evacuated and I cannot get to my bridesmaids dress that I need for a wedding this weekend. This is on a Wednesday when the storm isn't supposed to hit until Saturday. I contacted both the police and property manager who attempted to contact the business owner with no luck. I was not even given a phone call or opportunity to pick up the dress before they closed. Glad I spent $300 on a bridesmaids dress I cannot even wear. read more

This has been a 3 month long process with my pants being ruined in the end. I first turned in a pair of linen pants and a pair of wool pants. When I had been called to pick up my items 4 weeks later I was already a bit impatient. The wool pants turned out OK but the linen pants had been sewn over in multiple patterns making the repair very noticeable and a bigger eye sore. I asked for them to fix this and they agreed it was not the best repair. Another month later, I was asked to come in and pick up my pants. It looked like they added more stitching over the old stitching making this even worse. They admitted it was a difficult job with linen material. I understood but was still upset that my pants had now grown worse. With no sympathy, the angered owner from back said tell him we will undo it and give his money back. After coming back a month later the hole had been damaged beyond repair. It is a shame that todays day we have lost the trade of a good tailor or seamstress. With better customer service or possible offer to pay for the ruined item, I would have left at least with a respectable mistake. It's unfortunate that these skills have fallen to the wayside. Great opportunity for a young fashionable entrepreneur to start a professional tailor/seamstress shop in Mount Pleasant. This city is growing rapidly and these small businesses better be ready for it. Even writing this I feel bad in being negative so I will give you two stars instead of one. With a bad review I will give a different business a positive shout out to off set negativity. read more

Have used their services off and on for 2 or 3 years. No problems. They mainly hem my jeans and take up my pants, nothing complicated. But they do it quickly and affordably and are always on schedule. You can tell the owner is there because the shop runs smoothly and the staff is excellent. read more

Make sure to get a quote of the exact price you will be charged before using their services! I was charged for several alterations to have my article of clothing fit - which I would not have agreed to knowing the prices upfront. When calling to ask if my piece was ready, I had asked what the total price would be - but was told "we don't know, pay when you get here". The prices far exceed my expectations for their services. I would not recommend this place and will not be back. read more

didn't even fix the jeans they way i wanted, and then charged me $50 for a 'tapered' leg, and then insisted that they couldn't alter them they way i actually wanted them to look. went to another alteration shop and they fixed them the exact way i wanted them, but for only $8. not a great experience . read more

So disappointed and dissatisfied. I used to take all of my clothes here to be altered but not anymore! Half the time I would be told they couldnt do something, half the other times I would pick up my clothes and only some of them had been altered but leaving some that had not been! Most recently I took a dress in for my stepdaughter that she was going to be wearing in my wedding and it was slightly big on her so I had them take it in and add a zipper. The dress only cost $20 on amazon but the alterations were $70. And the final breaking point for me was when I took them a very nice BCBG cocktail dress that needed minimal alterations and when I went to pick it up they said I had already picked it up (which I knew I hadn't). So I asked them the date I supposedly picked it up and went back and looked at my bank account for that whole month and I never had written them a check and I font pay cash for this very reason. I tried for a month to talk to someone about it. i called all the time and even stopped by multiple times and they kept telling me I needed to talk to Mrs Bonnie the owner. She never called me back and they couldn't ever tell me when should would be in the shop. So now I am out of a really nice expensive dress. I will never go back and will never recommend them to anyone. read more
