I have gotten a couple pairs of pants hemmed, a few tops altered and a couch cushion fixed here! The pricing is very reasonable and I've been happy with all the alterations I've gotten done here. The timeline is typically 2-3 weeks to have an alteration done and she has always gotten the work done within the promised timeline. I took off a star because the store itself is a bit messy with piles of bags of alteration jobs on the floor. Despite this she manages to stay organized and always has quickly found the item I'm picking up. Also the store hours are limited with it only being open in the afternoon during the week. It's difficult to find a good alteration spot in Charleston. I've tried a handful and this is the best I've found as she does a good job and gets the works done within the given timeline. read more

By far the best place to get your clothes or anything made of cloth altered. I came in with a strange request to add a zipper to a winter changing poncho and Martha was more confident than me that it could be done. Not only was she able to get it done but it was done perfectly with 0 blemishes and in a timely matter. I will be taking all of my clothes and other things needing sewing here! read more

The seamstress is so nice and reasonable. She did a great job on my items and when she noticed I had a few buttons loose on my jacket she had me take it of right then and there and patched them up without charging me. She's a gem. read more

If I could give Just A Tuck 0 stars I would. First off, the business is a large room with piles and piles of clothing on top of whatever hidden furniture is underneath. When I dropped the dress I wanted taken in off Martha told me she could have it done in my tight timeline of a week. She then sloppily drew three chalk lines on one side of my dress, looked at the seaming and mentioned it would be difficult because it was unique (true), and sent me on my way. I reminded her she didn't yet have my name of phone number so she took that and the day I wanted to pick it up and told me to come between 2 and 4. Well, I go to pick the dress up and SHE HAD NOT EVEN DONE ANYTHING TO IT. She mentioned again how the seaming was too difficult and so she just didn't do it. I was shocked, especially that she had not even tried to call and tell me she couldn't do it. If she had let me know I would have tried to take it to another tailor as opposed to leaving the dress sitting there for a week with nothing done. Please heed my advice and avoid Just A Tuck at all costs. read more

DO NOT GO HERE!!!! I dropped off a very expensive vest to be altered and she completely ruined it. She did not pin it while it was on me, even after I asked her if she needed to pin it. She said she had been altering clothing for 30 years so against my better judgement I left it in her care anyways and she completely destroyed it. It is now way too tight and doesn't close properly and the sides are all bunched up and pockets are also screwed up. Then she had the nerve to charge me anyways. I also had to hunt her down for 2 weeks past when she said it would be ready. I will NEVER EVER go back!!!! Total waste of money and time. Just because someone has been doing something for a long time does not mean they are good at it. read more

I would give zero stars if I could. I made an appointment to have my wedding dress altered. I know I was cutting it close to the wedding date but I made an appointment and confirmed it the day before. I get there and she's not there. I couldn't get in tough with her either and I have called and left several messages. Either she had to have had a family emergency or she died. That's the only way I would excuse this highly unproffesional behavior. Since I still can't get in touch with her (4 days later) I may never know. I found another seamstress who was very nice who can get my dress done withing the time frame I need, and add a bustle for the train for under $100. This was my first experience with just a tuck, but I would not recommend since you obviously cannot count on the owner. read more

I came into this place on Sept 6th in hopes of getting my bridesmaids dress hemmed when I first walked into the place my first impression was it's clearly a private hole in the wall place. It wasn't organized but I figured that's because it was privately owned. Martha the owner greeted me and asked me what I needed done, I explained I had to have my dress hemmed and the reason I chose her was because I had got a $75 quote from David's Bridal to do the same so Martha ensured that she has over 30 years experience and could get the bridesmaids dress hemmed within 2 weeks. I was excited but then something made me rethink it over as I left when I learned that she didn't take any down payment she said pay later so I said ok... after about a week of not hearing from Martha on the status of my VERY expensive bridesmaid dress I began to get nervous so I called and I couldn't get a hold of her this made me even more nervous and worried. After 2 failed call attempts I finally got thru and spoke to her I asked her if she could have my dress ready early by that Fri she said sure just call me on Thur to remind me. Once again I thought this seemed abit unprofessional I know she's busy but why should the customer have to remind her to do her job? So after 2 weeks I called again no response. I finally drove over there after learning she's only open one day out the week for 2 hours. So when I got there I said litsen I really have an emergency I need my dress by today because I've got to have it for the rehearsal dinner she goes oh you too (as if she's heard it before) she then said I have your dress all finished. I was delighted and gave her a $10 tip for having it finally done but sorta disappointed in the fact that I had to go out my way so much just to follow up with her. I later tried my dress on and it fit good but snug an at first it didn't seem hemmed alot but that's because only an inch off was needed. I probably will NOT come back to this hole in the wall of a place simply because despite her being busy she turned what should have been a simple 4 hr job into a 2 week nervous wreck! read more
