Such a disappointment. I brought in shorts to have the waist taken in. After dropping them off and pre paying (which I hate doing) $30 I had a wait time of almost a month. I was actually out of town on the due date so I went in 2 days after. They couldn't find my shorts initially and when they did they hadn't been touched. She hurried me out the door and said she would call me when they're ready. It's a 20-25 min drive so obviously I'm not happy. I get a call almost before I get home that they are ready and I can come anytime. Obviously she had just done them. I go back the next day and get them. This business owner is quite rude and crass. She was shaming me that the 3 weeks I was giving her was not enough time for her to hem a dress. I didn't get the dress from the school until yesterday and immediately brought it to her. The facility looks like a disorganized mess and is filthy inside. The sofa where customers can sit while waiting for someone to try on a garment has piles of clothing on it . You can't sit on it anywhere. Lastly, Ms, Choi asked me to pay up front for the hem job, $95!!!! There is no second lining to the dress nor any pleats. $95 for Just a basic hem for my daughter's choral dress. I said no thank you. I don't own the dress. The school does. This job should take no more than 15 minutes and that includes the time it took Ms. Choi to chalk the hem line. Basically, her prices are more than what an attorney charges by the hour. I went down the street to The Alterations Shoppe and what a difference!!! I was greeted warmly here and not treated like an imposition. Their facility is clean and really kinda cool. An open floor plan work space with a seamstress island and just a cool workshop vibe. The colorful thread bolts are neatly displayed and organized on the back wall. Best of all, their price for hemming was $52 and you pay at pick up, not prior. Their kind employee even thought to ask if I wanted to leave the extra fabric length since it's a school owned garment and the answer was yes. Please reconsider going to see Ms. Choi. I dropped off a dress on February 5th and just picked it up today (August 30th) NOT ONE ALTERATION WAS DONE. 8 months passed and I was clearly scammed. Every month I would attempt to follow up. I was yelled at/lied to that progress was being made. Every time I called I was promised I receive a call "next week." After 8 months, I gave up and went in to get a refund. I do not believe I would have been given a refund if I did not bring my husband with me. Everytime I attempted to communicate with this business alone they were rude and disrespectful. I should have seen the red flags. During my first fitting when it was suggested by the seamstress I "lose some weight." This dress was never touched by her but I paid upfront. I dropped off a pair of pants to get lengthened and brought in a little in the the legs. I was charged $30 which seemed kind of high. I was told they would be finished in 5 days. I called back on the 5th day and was told they weren't finished yet. They said they needed a few more days because they were busy which I could understand. 5 days later they still weren't finished. I called back over 3 more times and every time I called they weren't finished. It's now been 3 weeks and I went in to pick them up because I figured they had to be finished. Nope......they still need more time. It's a good thing I don't need these pants now because I wouldn't have them. I would not recommend this place unless you don't mind waiting who knows how long to get your clothes back. Very disappointed! read more

This took MONTHS and when I finally went to pick up the dresses that weren't lost, the woman was extremely rude and tried to tell me I was too young to understand business... meanwhile they're losing people clothes left and right. read more

I chose to go to Choi Alterations after reading the ONE review on here. I am new to the area and needed a dress shortened for a formal Christmas party. I went in two weeks before the party. The lady told me it would be ready the Tuesday 11 days from when I went in. I figured, ok, that gives me 3 days if anything happens. So Tuesday came, I had a babysitter, went to the shop at about 4pm. First red flag was that she pulled out two different dresses asking if they were mine. When she did finally find mine, she said "do you need it today?" I told her no, for Friday. She asked if I could come back tomorrow. I agreed. I called today to make sure it was ready before I took my baby out in the rain to pick it up. She says " you said you were coming tomorrow morning " (meaning Thursday). I corrected her politely and told her she promised to have my dress ready for today. I just picked it up. I deliberately waited to write the review until I saw the finished product. It was a simple alteration. 1/2 inch off the bottom, all the way around. It is a long dress so I'm hoping no one notices the poor quality. I honestly feel that I could have done a better job myself. It is uneven and coming apart in some areas. So disappointed. I will not be going back and I encourage you to look into other places for your alterations. It would be one thing to have to wait almost 2 weeks if you knew your clothes would be ready on time and done properly. This is unacceptable. There is one other thing I feel is important to mention. The day I dropped the dress off, there was a man who came to pick up some suits. He too was there on a Saturday and he too was told that his belongings were not ready. The man was understandably frustrated and he tried to explain that he specifically came to MOunt Pleasant only to pick up his clothes that were promised to be ready that day. The owners were hardly apologetic and were asking when he NEEDED them by. This just backs up the experience I had. The sign on their window says "ready on time." "High Quality." Estimated 3 weeks to complete 3 shirt alterations, It's been over 2.5 months

It rarely happens but this time, YELPERS, you let me down. I should have paid heed Anna's review. There were a lot of excuses given by the owners but my bad experience really just boils down to zero organization. I took 4 pairs of pants & a dress in. The pants were simple hems, & to add straps to a strapless dress. It should have been fairly straight forward, but it was anything but. To make a LONG story short. The owner / operator LOST my items. I was told they're here, no worries, we'll find them. It took almost 3 months and 7 trips to this location before I finally got my items back. My items in the end were finally completed, without charge, but I will never have anything altered here again. If you do not heed this warning & decide to go here anyways MAKE SURE- your name & phone # are listed in "the notebook" with the information about what you are having altered! The notebook is used by the owner to keep track of what she is working on & is the only way she keeps track of the craziness of it all. My items were listed in the notebook however somehow my name & phone #, which I did provide, did not get written down together. I also had to take my dress somewhere else to have the straps removed & new ones added as the job done by Mrs. Chio was chintzy. read more

Hold on to your wallet! After waiting six weeks for 10 small curtain panels to be made for my vintage RV, she jumped the price from $35 per panel to $45. Of the 10 panels, 4 were cut the right size, but the pattern was running vertically instead of horizontally as instructed. Of the remaining 6 panels, 2 were way too long and 4 were way too short. When I complained, she just began whining about how her eyes hurt and she had a blister on her finger - and my $450!! Plus, the work was shoddy and looked terrible. I took a bridesmaid dress in to get hemmed. The lady (sorry I didn't get her name) was able to get it back to me in a week and a half. She did a great job with the hemming and was even able to keep the back of the dress a half inch longer for a "train look" that the bride requested. The lady even went out of her way to steam the dress for me and had it ready for the day and time I requested. Couldn't be happier with the service.
