I wish I could give ZERO stars. My husband bought tires from Youngstedts. Prior to a cross country road trip, we brought his car in for oil change/tire rotation. He then drove to Texas and back for a work trip. We then drove up to Duluth last weekend-and noticed a noise coming from one of the tires. Had a friend who knows about cars look at it, turns out the lug nuts were not tightened (he could remove them with his fingers.) Seriously? How do you not make sure the lug nuts are not tightened? Seems like Mechanics 101 to me. This could have been a dangerous situation. What if the lug nuts had come off while he was driving to Texas? Car could have been destroyed, potential traffic accident and injury. Thank goodness none of this happened. We have given Youngstedts multiple chances with car repairs in the past, and their customer service is just awful. Please-save yourself the time and money and go anywhere else. I would give zero stars if I could. I got a flat tire and there was a piece of metal visible in between the tire treads. This is an easy 10 minute repair for any tire shop. My car was on the side of a busy road and a friend picked me up to take me to Youngstedt's at about 12:30pm on Thursday, June 5th. I asked the guy behind the counter(didn't get his name but he had a beard) if he could help me. He shrugged his shoulders and said he couldn't guarantee anything but I could leave it and check back around 8pm closing time. I told him my car was on the side of a road and asked again if he could help. He said he didn't have anyone who could do it. Meanwhile there were several employees working on cars, and presumably tires, out in the shop. This guy couldn't care less about me or my situation. Most other times I've had a flat that needed to be plugged they have practically fallen all over themselves to help. I am from out of town so I won't have to worry about never using them but they also lost potential business from my friend who lives in Maple Grove. Horrible customer service. read more

I would take my car here before the pandemic and after with no problem. It seems since the economy is in a shamble they are charging more and telling woman customers they need something when they don't. I was told I needed a water pump. I made the appt and was ready to take it for repairs. I took it to someone else to check it out again and all I needed was a houseing system. Called to cancel and the person who answered had an attitude and was very rude on the phone. A $660 charge broke down to a little over $200. I will NEVER allow them to touch my car again. read more

I dropped my car at this Youngsteds Maple Grove Auto shop and afterwards received a call about recommendations for added work needed on my vehicle. I assume that the work was needed since my car did have 120,000 miles on it. The reason I went there instead of a dealer, which is where I typically go, was that the pricing was 70 to $80 cheaper. Upon receiving my vehicle, there were other recommendations that that gentleman spoke about on the phone to have done later, so I assume that at the auto body shop I will be given an explanation of these things. Well, although other customers were being greeted so well, and one even walked in without a face mask and was told "Oh it's you!" I was barely looked at. Here they handed me a paper receipt, and I gave them my money, and that was that, period. The guy even showed impatience while I was trying to get my card from my purse. I guess my money is good enough for them to take, but I'm not good enough for them to explain any other necessary repairs in order to help me keep my vehicle in good condition. I don't know if it's because I'm black, but it is very suspicious. I definitely won't be going back there since I did not feel like a valuable customer although I spent a $1000. I would rather pay the $80 extra and get great customer service from the Toyota dealership. People can go ahead and say that I am just "sensitive," or " overreacting ", but the truth is that with so many struggling businesses in this pandemic, you would think that youngsteds would go above and beyond, or at least be more appreciative of paying customers whether they are familiar with that customer or not..... read more

These guys were amazing! Rick (manager) was very responsive and knowledgeable. The Youngstedt's website was easy to navigate, quotes were quick and accurate. I was easily able to get an appointment that worked out great! Once at the Maple Grove shop I was greeted by Chad at the front desk, he was friendly, knowledgeable, confirmed the service and made sure I agreed with the pricing and let me know how long to expect the service to take. True to their word - they were done a few minutes earlier than expected, charged me what we had agreed to, and I was on my way! I love my new tires and will absolutely be back - this was such a better experience and price than I have ever received at competing tire companies! This is a great shop and I will be back!! This place does great work but they are really expensive. I brought my car in and said I needed a new starter. After a $128 examination, they called to tell me I needed a new starter. Right. When I looked up the part number of the starter they charged $208 for, I found it in numerous places for less than $40. 500% mark up. read more

This shop has excellent customer service! Every time I have called and had a need, even when it was last minute, they have accommodated me and provided help. I appreciate the courtesy rides to and from work on days that the work takes a long time. They do a great job explaining what needs to be done and why. Trying to soak up the last waning days of warm weather, I have put some miles on my vehicle, along with an extra coat of road dirt. Went by Youngstedts to have my vehicle cleaned. I went through the drive through and paid 25.00 for the platinum service. What a complete waste of money. Even though they provide hand drying service at the very end, my windows and side mirrors were blurry mess. Bug spots still stuck on windshield. The young man who was supposed to hand towel dry the side mirrors completely ignored me, while looking at his phone. Could have went through local gas station and paid half the price and received much better service. Do yourself a favor - treat yourself to your favorite beverage with the money you spend by not going to this overpriced so called car cleaner. read more

I rarely write reviews of companies for two reasons. 1) For me to leave a positive review, a company would have to do something beyond typical business practices. Something completely unexpected. I know of only one company that values customers that much and they're hugely successful because of it. 2) For me to leave a negative review, a company must have a blatant disregard for their customers. Unfortunately, I have to leave a negative review for Youngstedts in Maple Grove. After buying a set of tires from there a few months ago, I took my truck in yesterday for a routine rotation. I had an appointment that shouldn't have taken more than 20 minutes. It took 87. I was told it was because they were extremely busy. Apparently they value walk in business (more than likely new customers) over that of current customers. Then, when I picked up my keys and paperwork, I was told the serpentine belt, and A/C belt, were in bad shape and needed to be replaced at cost of $201.22. The salesman obviously thought I was ignorant and would pay an exorbitant charge to replace a couple of fan belts. Ironically, I knew the serpentine belt wasn't bad as it was just replaced a year ago when I had the water pump replaced. I still tried to give them the benefit of the doubt by checking out the condition of the A/C belt myself when I got home. I don't know how they could have checked it as the V portion of the belt is completely hidden by shrouding and other components from both above and below. I could see the outside of the belt where it wraps around the A/C pulley, and it looks fine without any imperfections. Observations: 1) Once they receive your money, you're put at the bottom of their priority list. 2) They're more interested in gaining new customers than maintaining a good relationship with the ones they have. Apparently they're not concerned about you becoming a repeat customer. Strange. 3) They show a blatant disregard for customers by trying to charge exorbitant prices for goods & services that aren't needed. I regret having purchased the tires from them, not just because of what happened yesterday, but also at the time of purchase. When paying for the tires, I was asked if I wanted the front-end alignment checked. I view of the question was the salesman is just trying to get more money out of me, not realizing he was trying to tell me something. The previous set of tires went way beyond what they were rated for mileage wise, and the truck was handling fine so there wasn't any evidence that something was wrong with the alignment. I said no, again not making the connection that my decision could be more costly in the future by not paying for an alignment now. It wasn't until I got home and started reviewing the paperwork that I discovered the alignment check would have been free, and, they had documented that I had declined it. So why didn't he tell me it was free? Why did they deliberately make note that the alignment wasn't checked? Why was the same note on the new receipt that I received yesterday? It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out the reason, but I can't say it's 100% accurate until it actually happens so I'm not posting it here until it does. Hopefully I won't be updating this review, and hopefully now you have a better insight as to how this company operates. Like everybody else, I don't like being taken for a sucker. So regardless of the long-term results, Youngstedts won't be getting any more money out me even if I have to go somewhere else and pay more. I continue to be baffled by companies that concentrate their efforts on making a buck in the short term rather than building a repeat customer base that will be there through tough economic times, which will help to ensure its' continued growth and long term survival. read more

Everyone I have ever talked with and interacted with here has been amazing! They are all so nice, and so accommodating. The best part is they are not pushy. My dad is really good with cars and they never pressure me to have something fixed here since they know I can have him fix a lot of things on his own if they know what needs attention. They always remember me too which gives this place a such a nice friendly atmosphere. Great coupons for oil change service! Their punch card is a great deal too. I can't believe this place has some bad reviews?!? This is easily the best place to take your car on this side of the Mississippi! They are always very courteous and informative. I've been coming here for about 6 years. There have even been a few times when they told me that I didn't need a certain repair, or that my car would be better off on going to the dealership because of warranties. Instead of just taking my money, they are always honest with me, and offer great advice. I would highly recommend these guys to anybody who needs their car worked on. read more

I took my prius in for an oil change, on the drive home the red triangle of death came on along with the check engine light about a mile and a half from the shop. I had my dad look at it and they filled it too full. When we called to let them know for future customers that Prius's are very particular about the amount of oil they take for future reference, they denied fault and didn't even offer to drain the oil themselves or offer a future discount. Poor communication. Slow service. High fees/prices. 2 hours after dropping my car for an alignment and oil change, I called to check on my car. I was told they just were getting around to it. Unable to leave my car for another 2 hours, they rushed the oil change and I left without an alignment. When I expressed my discontentment, they said when I came back they would waive the $30 alignment check fee. Oh gee, thanks. Most places don't charge or waive the fee if you are getting service done. Horrible Customer! They don't seem to care about the customer. I asked them to take off a tire with a nail in it and fix that later and just throw the full size spare on given I didn't have an appointment. This was Saturday morning and the only thing they cared about was getting me off the phone! They were booked and gave me no solution or resolution and were about as rude as a person can be with someone. They were annoyed I had called twice and basically said tough. Sh-- they were busy. I found a Good year miles away from Maple Grove were I live and will continue to drive out of my to avoid this place! I should have read the reviews before calling them! read more

I had a bad experience after coming here for a few oil changes that will keep me from coming back. My significant other's car had died and I figured it was the battery needing replacement since it was way past due for one. I changed it and the car couldn't keep a charge. So we brought the car in and asked to check the alternator and get a quote on a new one. They charged a diagnostic fee to tell us the alternator was not working and a quote of over $750. Not liking the price of the quote and not happy with a 'diagnostic' fee, we went to another local place. There they found that our alternator was working just fine and dandy and that the belt needed to be changed....for a fraction of the price. (Their alternator would have cost less than half of Youngstedt's as well). Dishonest and will take money from you anyway they can as evidenced by the diagnostic fee (would liar fee be more appropriate?) Buyer beware! read more

DO NOT USE THIS SHOP. WASTE OF TIME AND YOUR MONEY. I needed a left front window regulator for a Cadillac. I have had this fixed previously for about $200.00. The price for the part at NAPA is $91.49. While making my appointment 4 days ahead of time with "Ryan" I specifically told them the part that I needed. Youngstedts indeed found that a new window regulator is needed which is what I told them 4 days prior. They would not fix it as they never ordered the part and couldn't get it that day (it was 5pm). They didn't want to spend the $5 to have the part shipped if they didn't need it was the explanation. They then told me to leave it there with them and quoted me $469.00 for a $91.49 part!! They wanted me to leave the car there overnight, wasted 2 hrs of my time then wouldn't give me the keys until I paid them $65 labor for taking apart my door when they never had the parts to fix in the first place. They even brought out a big dirty guy to stand next to "Ryan" trying to intimidate me. Really unprofessional. My fault for not getting a written quote from them when I made my appointment. I am 45 years old and should know better but It was close to home and needed it fixed asap. Lesson learned! read more

The Service technicians at Youngstedt's Maple Grove (who are paid commission on each service they can sell you, as was confirmed to me by the trainee who gave me a lift home when I dropped my vehicle off) decided to take me for a ride. I brought my vehicle in because it was burning oil. I knew it was burning oil (not leaking it), because I park it in the same spot in my driveway each night and there was no oil spot. I relayed this to the owner's kid who checked me in when I dropped it off. So I was a little surprised when he called 2 hours later to tell me that it was leaking all over the place and I would need a new oil pan gasket. I really wanted to believe him, as an oil pan leak is a lot less serious than an engine burning oil, so when he explained something about only leaking when under the pressure of driving I bought it and gave the go ahead. $600 later I was still burning oil. When I brought it back 3 days later complaining that it was still burning oil, the technician recommended another $400 service that was since confirmed to me by a different mechanic to be a completely made up solution that didn't even make mechanical sense. When I asked what they could do for me since the initial fix obviously wasn't the problem and I had suggested as much when I dropped it off, they offered me $25 off the 2nd repair. So they did $600 in unnecessary work on my car, offered a $25 discount if I'd give them $400 more business which still wouldn't have fixed my problem. Was I gullible taking them up on the first repair? You bet. But this is a shop that recommends unnecessary repairs and won't stand behind their work. Do not go here. read more
