Great Japanese food in the Henderson area! We started with the okonomiyaki, a savory "pancake" with batter and cabbage. It was tasty and just the right size. For our mains, we got the beef udon bowl and the omelette. The meat in the beef bowl was well seasoned and tender. The broth was flavorful, but was on the sweet side. For the omelette, inside was fried rice with chicken and it was surrounded by gravy. For dessert, we ordered ube mochi ice cream and it was really good. It was the only flavor available for mochi ice cream. Lastly, we were able to get an iced coffee to-go for free. Overall, this is a great spot. I've been craving a good gyudon beef bowl for the longest time, but I couldn't find one that really reminded me of what I grew up eating. Back when I lived in California, Yoshinoya was one of my go-to spots, so I've been chasing that same comfort food ever since moving to Vegas. I came across a local Vegas food creator who said this place gave him Yoshinoya vibes, so I figured I'd give it a shot. Man... it definitely brought me back. Our new favorite neighborhood ramen and curry place! Cozy booths and tables as before, Yoshiya is even better than the other place they took over here. The tonkotsu ramen broth is rich, flavorful and so good. The noodles have the right amount of chew and the egg is perfect and jammy. My friend and I hiked Amargosa Trail nearby and decided to pop in here for lunch. We each ordered takoyaki as an appetizer and a chicken katsu curry for me while my friend opted for the shrimp omelette house signature dish. The plate of takoyaki comes as 4 pieces. And though the batter was perfectly crisped and the sauces were tasty, it hardly contained ANY bits of octopus. I have personally traveled to Japan half a dozen times and have had my fair share of takoyaki there. It's a very popular street food and one of my favorite snacks there. With that said, to have cut open each of the 8 takoyaki to discover it had very LITTLE to ZERO bits of octopus was quite disappointing. My chicken katsu curry plate was very good. The katsu chicken was fried to perfection and the curry was very tasty. My only gripe was the stingy amount of rice on the plate. There was quite a bit of sauce leftover, which I happily sopped up with my spoon, but I shouldn't need to order a side of rice when the curry-to-rice ratio is so disproportionate. My friend enjoyed her shrimp omelette rice. She said the shrimp was cooked just right, the egg was silky and fluffy, and the house special sauce complemented the dish well. She also enjoyed the hot green tea, which was served in the cutest mug shaped like a pup. Service was attentive without being intrusive, and the prices were reasonable. Great find in Henderson! All the reviews hyped me up and my experience was pretty good! The waitress/cashier was super nice and definitely made the experience here great! It was quiet when I came in on a week day for dinner. They play great lofi music. Only couple tables were occupied but they seem to have DoorDash/ take out orders often. I ordered the chicken omelet rice and tonkotsu ramen. The ramen broth was hot hot and full of toppings. It was really good for the price. The omelet rice let me down a bit, the chicken pieces were unevenly cooked so some are dry. It was a bit salty for my liking as well. Love the menu- it had everything we would want to eat. Kids decided on Katsu bow and chicken katsu curry. Husband and I tried their Omelet with chicken and combination Omelet which was chicken, shrimp & kurobuta sausage. The kids enjoyed their food. Husband and I enjoyed ours. Recently went to Yoshiya for the first time and, unfortunately, had a less-than-desirable experience. I visited with a group of friends on a late weekend evening and initially had high hopes, especially after realizing it replaced one of the Ohjah ramen locations. Despite there being only one other group dining at the time, it took over 10 minutes after being seated before we were able to place our orders, and only after we flagged down the waitress. When the food arrived, I was especially excited for the tonkotsu ramen, since Ohjah's ramen is one of my favorites in Las Vegas. Unfortunately, it fell short. The broth lacked depth and was overpowered by the greens, and while the noodles were thin as described, they didn't have much flavor. The pork and egg were actually done very well, but each component tasted more like an individual add-on rather than coming together as a cohesive bowl. We also ordered the chicken katsu curry. The curry and katsu portions were generous, but the rice portion was surprisingly small, leaving us with a lot of leftover sauce. Without enough rice to balance it out, the dish ended up tasting saltier than expected. Outside of the food, the ambiance didn't really land for me. I could tell the waitress was busy handling last-minute to-go orders, which I understand, but the music choice was particularly distracting. Minecraft music played throughout our visit, which made the space feel sleepy and disengaging rather than setting a comfortable dining vibe. Finally tried this place. Inside still the same as before except they closed part of the bar. The Tonkatsu ramen was good tho I wish they gave more broth. My son ordered the umorice with charsu sausage. The sauce was a little overpowering so he just picked at the fried rice inside the omelette. The curry chicken was good but rice portion is small. We ran across this restaurant as we are always going to Vons next door. I thought it was a perfect place to eat tonight since it was a cooler night for some ramen and new food to explore! The two girls working were so nice and answered our questions regarding the menu as the menu was not very descriptive with what was in each dish. I ordered the chicken katsu set and it was so good. I would have never thought to put the chicken katsu on a small raised rack to make sure the underside also stays crispy. What a smart idea! My boyfriend got the beef udon with egg. It came out hot and fresh, and he loved it! It was slightly sweet, which I did not expect, but it was extremely flavorful and perfect for this chilly night! There was an ad on the table for the pancake that we tried and that was surprisingly great! I thought it would have a stronger egg flavor, which I was hoping it would not, and it absolutely didn't! There was some soft music and the lighting was dimmer, which I always enjoy for the ambience of just being able to relax after work. It's great for groups or eating alone. Check out the sear on their pan-fried gyoza! Just incredible. Their tonkatsu ramen is fantastic; broth is so flavorful and the egg, tender pork, and noodles are pure comfort food. My daughter always gets udon which was delicious. The ahi salad is great with everything you'd want in a salad; from edamame to greens and seaweed salad with a perfect ponzu type sauce. The restaurant is located in a large shopping plaza with plenty of parking. Inside, it's spacious with lots of booths and tables. I drove all the way to centennial once to try this place so I'm so glad it opened near me in Henderson! I only got one item this time so the review is only for the omelette rice. I ordered it to go and it was pretty quick. This dish is a 10/10 for me since it had the wok aroma in the rice. The sauce that came with it was so savory and fit so well w the dish. They recently opened so it wasn't too crowded when I came. There was a good amount of seating and it is decorated almost exactly like the one in centennial with Japanese vibes. They were all good. We both ordered Pork Katsu Curry and add on of fried shrimp. Curry flavor was good but there is only one level of spiciness. Amount of rice is less compared to other restaurants and personally feel is. It enough for a curry meal. There are a few pieces of pork which were tough. When i found out that Ojah closed, I was pretty bummed. I just found that Yoshiya Kitchen opened in the same location. Read the reviews, they were mixed, but mostly good, so we had to try. They have a very interesting menu, so we ordered several different items to try. Pics attached! In a nutshell, the food was okay. Not the best japanese food, but good. They are still fairly new, so I can see them improving. For a japanese restaurant, perfectly cooked rice is very important. Today, the rice was especially mushy and clumped together, and was very difficult to eat and enjoy. We will return and try more items in the near future. read more

This neighborhood just got a small upgrade. Yoshiya Kitchen is a local restaurant that hilariously decided to expand from the northwest extremes of the Las Vegas valley to the far southeast. Fortunately, the latter is where I live these days. Even better, they took over a restaurant spot that formerly belonged to a different Japanese restaurant which I found so underwhelming that I only went once. My friend was interested in the Vegetable Okonomiyaki ($8.95), so we shared that app. It was actually really good. The texture of the interior of the dough was actually soft and more enjoyable than whenever I've tried this in the past (admittedly never in Japan). The metal serving utensil easily cut through it. There were some veggie bits, which helped, and a light crisp on the exterior. The sauces were savory and not overwhelming in portion. I would typically order a ramen, but I wasn't in the mood on a hot day and instead got the Pork Katsu Curry ($12.95). The pork was crispy, but a bit tough; I ended up biting through slices to eat half of them so that I didn't have to stuff my mouth every time. The curry was fine but didn't seem to have as much depth as at other restaurants around Vegas. Also, it was maybe a bit small but did enough work as a lunch portion. The worst part may have been the tiny portion of pickles, which was obviously nowhere near enough for the plate. I also tried my friend's Kurobuta Sausage Omelette Rice with House Special Sauce ($14.95). The omelette was cooked nice and soft, and the rice was reasonably flavored if not especially captivating. The sausage was in small pieces and felt very plain though. The dessert menu looks promising on the tableside menus, but the slices of both the Mango Crepe Cake ($5.50) and Brown Sugar Boba Crepe Cake ($5.50) came out looking flatter and kinda small (although decently priced for the portion). The mango was subtle but still more flavorful than the bland brown sugar cake, and the boba from it barely registered in my mouth. However, the crepes are soft and cut very easily with a fork, so at least they have that going for them. Maybe the most attractive lure for future visits is their hot or iced coffee, which are free from 12-5pm daily. I had the iced coffee today, and it was pretty solid. If you're wondering how low my bar is, several local casinos serve worse. A coffee and a dessert could be a nice way to spend a little time, assuming that you're not rushed out. I am especially worried on that point because service is a bit of a work in progress. Two servers seemed to switch off with our table, even though it wasn't crowded at all in the dining room. Both were very eager to get me a to-go box or remove my unfinished plate, which is the only time I can recall ever getting annoyed about that. Yoshiya Kitchen is not amazing and is not a destination, but they are solid enough for a neighborhood Japanese spot. They're certainly better than the business which they replaced, and I'll likely be back either for coffee or because my friend who lives nearby happens to like them enough. read more
