This place just became my favorite ramen spot in the Las Vegas area. The flavors blew me away. Quality ingredients served in a very appetizing manner. I was greeted right away by the lovely Jay. She took my drink order and let me look over the menu. Then, I saw it , Tsukemen ramen. My favorite ramen dish ever! I ordered the soft shell crab as an appetizer. It arrived quickly and looked amazing. The soft shell crab was absolutely delicious. The sauces were exactly what I wanted , sweet, creamy and spicy. The Tsukemen flavors were off the charts. The pork chashu was grilled and had an awesome char flavor. The soy 6min egg was so good and the kimchi was fresh , sweet and perfectly spicy. The dipping broth was also beyond good. I wondered if this was the best thing on the menu. I saw other diners looking at my table. This happens a lot, when I eat Tsukemen. I think it's not a common order for most people. I've waited so long to say: oooh, my! Umai Ramen is a Henderson spot that surprisingly dates to pre-pandemic times. Located somewhere in a sprawling Stephanie plaza between Ross and Hobby Lobby, it's somehow managed to survive despite being on hardly anyone's radar. Initially, I had eyes on a salmon app, but I eventually read enough of the menu to notice the Orange Salmon ($13.99), apparently classified as a no-rice roll or something. This is indeed a rendition of a certain famous "new" sashimi-style dish with salmon slices paired with orange slices and an umami dressing. It doesn't super evoke the awe and nostalgia of the original version I had, maybe lacking some orange punch and also using larger but lower quality salmon sashimi cuts. Fortunately, the presence of all the sauces, orange wedges, and microgreens bestows enough flavor to cover for that issue. I also found a more interesting option than a hot bowl of soup in their menu. The Black Garlic Mazemen ($14.99) is a sauced bowl of kale noodles (yep, they're green) with spicy ground pork, chashu, and some sort of mixed greens. It is served hot, so it isn't as much of a relief during the summer, but you can mostly handle it without a spoon. The noodles are coated with that luscious, perhaps under-described sauce that didn't really speak "yuzu" to me. The ground pork doesn't make the whole thing too spicy, and the thin chashu slices are nicely caramelized and tender. I was quite happy with the dish and would order it again as soon as tomorrow. Umai Ramen is really a hidden gem. I can't speak for their regular ramen menu, but I had some very nice dishes here tonight and suggest that anyone else in Henderson who's overlooked them make a stop for either lunch or dinner. read more

Japanese food is among my favorite types of cuisine in the Valley, but with how many ramen shops there are all over town, I don't usually spring for ramen unless it's truly exceptional -- and this place is exceptional. I think it might even be up there as one of my new favorite ramen spots in town, alongside Hashi in Chinatown and Kyuramen in Anthem! The best part is, with how close this restaurant is to my place, I don't have to make nearly as long of a drive if I want ramen. Umai Ramen is located in the Target shopping complex on Sunset and Stephanie, tucked away in the line of shops between Hobby Lobby and Ross. I first spotted this place when I went to the nearby H&R Block to get my taxes done earlier in the year, but I never really had an excuse to come out here until I had the ramen craving strike, and hard -- hence why I decided to bite the bullet and check the place out. One of the things that struck me immediately was their offerings -- of course, they have ramen of all types as you might guess from the name. But they also have different styles of ramen that you don't typically find anywhere, like the more elusive mazemen no-broth ramen, udon noodles, and even tsukemen-style ramen! To say nothing of some of the appetizers -- again, while they have the typical offerings of other noodle houses in town, they also have a selection of items that you really can't find anywhere else. They have multiple types of ramen with unusual toppings, such as their truffle ramen with mushrooms and steak (I need to try that next time I'm here), but I went pretty safe with their black garlic ramen, considered a signature item on their menu, and added an extra egg to it. If I were honest, I didn't need it because the ramen was so full of delicious toppings that I couldn't put my chopsticks or spoon down! Their appetizers are also a must -- I ordered their orange salmon and mango scallops, and I would highly recommend both of those as well. Between bites, the servers would check in on me, refill my water, and provide additional napkins as needed, as well. Needless to say, I'm hooked -- and already I'm thinking of the next time I go here! What will I try next? If you're in the area, give Umai Ramen a try. You just might come back for more. read more

Went in on the 4th of July with a friend and was quickly prompted with the question of dining in or out instead of being greeted. After we stated we were dining in she told us multiple times it was last call before we sat down, if you didn't want us to sit and eat you could've just been apologetic and said last call was just done we wouldn't have known the difference and I wouldn't feel the need to type this. We ate our food and left said thank out on the way out, no response, gave her the benefit of the doubt that she didn't hear me and said have a safe night still no response. A lot of good stuff in it. There's bamboo shoots, bean sprouts, black garlic oil, fried garlic, green onions, and fried tofu. Had a hard time finishing it. This was just too hot for the weather. I usually get my orders to-go, and they're impressively fast with preparation, which is perfect when I'm short on time. I've tried all of their mazemen, and every one has been absolutely delicious. I went for the default thick option. In addition to a wide variety of Ramen they also have an assortment of Sushi and appetizers ranging from Karaage (deep-fried chicken), Gyoza and Tempura. The chicken was crispy and delicious. The noodles had just the right amount of bite. Very enjoyableand the service was great There's one TV, playing soft-pop music. The customer service here was terrible. When we walked in, the lady told us to sit anywhere, so we did -- but no one brought menus. About 5 minutes later she came by asking if we were ready to order, even though we hadn't even seen the menu yet. When we finally got to order, she came back rushing us again. The food was honestly mediocre at best. We didn't even finish it -- we were just too hungry to leave it untouched. When I asked for salt and pepper, she rolled her eyes and then came back a few minutes later asking to take them back while we were still eating. Who does that? The place also smelled bad, there was no AC, and the vents looked like they hadn't been cleaned in ages. The kitchen area looked dirty too. It came out quickly and it tasted pretty good. This place isn't my favorite ramen place in Vegas but it was good and there are a lot of worse places to eat at. Food is good but the restaurant smells cigarette smoke, I'm not sure why. Most tables are good for a party of 2 only. They only have 1 table for 4 and even if there was only 1 customer when we arrived but they would not give us the bigger table for me and my husband. The chair does not accomodate a place to hung my purse so I ate wearing my purse or purse in my lap. Staff is also distant. No one came after us and the one customer they had has finished eating and left so it's not busy at all so they could have given us the bigger table. Other tables can easily rearrange. We saw this little ramen shop a while ago, but I never did try until tonight! We were always curious about this restaurant, so being that the weather has been pretty cold, we went in to try their ramen. Walking in, the restaurant is small, with about a half dozen tables. We were promptly greeted as we walked in and were immediately seated. Looking around, the place is very clean and the decor is very simple. The menu has a typical mix of ramen and fried rice, but they also have fresh sushi! Ordered tonkatsu ramen, cha shu fried rice, and a crunchy sushi roll. Our food arrived fairly quickly, and we dug in. First, the fried rice looked dark with soy sauce sauce, but it was very tasty, and I was pleasantly surprised. Next up, the sushi! It was very fresh, with perfectly cooked rice, and this too was very tasty! The tonkatsu ramen came piping hot, and the noodles were cooked al dente, which to me is how it should always be. The soup was a little weak, meaning it could be a little richer, but they also sell a richer version of tonkatsu ramen as well. Maybe I'll try that version next. Overall, the food was great! Used to love it. The desserts are still tasty but this particular visit was $70 for three bowls of inedible and bitter ramen (still tipped 20%). The bbq short ribs were inedible and fatty. The black garlic was greasy. I asked for spicy and they said ok but didn't make it that way. They have changed the ingredients and portions. You get a lot less now and it's just not good.
