I stood in entrance and some man pointed me in the direction towards the back of the restaurant despite me never being here before we walked to the back of the restaurant I asked a waitress if we sat ourselves I requested a booth and she said not now and walked away even though I was watching one in the back being cleaned. We decided to walk out without dining in because the 3 minutes spent in there was awful. Will not return and if I could rate this zero stars I would. read more

The kitchen can't keep up, and are clearly rushed with mistakes often made, that they're too busy to correct. It's funny - I was planning to try this place out and a couple of days before I get there - Lester K. also goes and reviews the place! Lester is right - the food here is excellent! It's your traditional diner food - but very well executed. I stopped in around noon for a late breakfast - once again I had missed breakfast but was craving a traditional greasy protein breakfast. I sat in the front area - there are basically three segmented areas - the area in the far back looks a bit more rustic with old wooden walls. The area I was in might be a smoking area as I saw one person smoking, but they were far enough away from me that I was not bothered. I think my waitress' name was Debra - she took my order, coffee, water, and the Corned Beef Hash breakfast - two eggs, hash browns, corned beef hash, and choice of toast or biscuit. I customized mine with eggs over easy and substituted an English muffin for toast. I like my Corned Beef Hash to be a bit on the well done side and have a crust on it - but I've given up asking for it in restaurants as not a single place has ever prepared mine in the way I requested it. While I was waiting - I re-reviewed Lester's Yelp review - using the Yelp client I have on my iPhone - Lester's review was hilarious - I was sitting in my booth cracking up. Well imagine my surprise when Debra brings me my food and there is this delicious looking crust on my hash. I asked for hot sauce and I was given a choice! Tabasco or Texas Pete? I have never been given a choice of hot sauces in a diner! I went with Texas Pete. The hash was excellent, the hash browns were excellent, the eggs and English muffin - all good! Afterwards I told Debra that I love my hash this way and how I can never get it this way - I asked her how she knew - she didn't - but she told me she thinks it's gross if it's not prepared that way, so she told them to do it that way - I laughed - that was cool! The place was very busy - a few people also walked in to pick up take out. There were folks from all walks of life in here - young folks, middle aged folks, old folks. There is additional parking out back, they accept all major credit cards. That was one of the best traditional American breakfasts I've had in a loooonnnggggg time. And it was not greasy! read more

Yep, I'm giving a low review and I am sad to say it really wasn't as good as everyone is stating. First we waited about 10 minutes after we got our drinks for an actual waitress to grab our orders. While I watched people who got seated after us got to put their order in with waiters and how I know is their food came out way before us. Finally, after 10 minutes our waitress came and she had a big attitude as my dad said "Hi, how are you", she just flipped her notepad and said "what do you want to order". I mean really, no hello or anything. So that was already a big no. My dad ordered the hungry man which was a huge portion of sausage gravy and biscuits. He enjoyed it. I got the country fried steak and I did not enjoy it at all. it just had a funky taste to it with and without the gravy on top. Could it have been the oil? It tasted old and gross. I left 3/4 of it on the table. At least the potatoes were good. Thats the only thing I enjoyed..and the hot chocolate but you can't mess up hot coco. Once again, the waitress was no where to be found when we needed refills. I might try it again for breakfast but sucks that this was how my first experience was. read more

I had the Top Hat sandwich. It was delicious and had plenty of steak in it. It was kinda messy but that was mostly my fault, there was so much steak squeezing out of that sandwich. Since then I've been back for the Top Hat to go. Beats any fast food burger! This place is great, it has old fashioned home cooking and good portions at a great price. It should be busier but they don't advertise and have a small business sign. The only downside to this place is that there is limited parking and it's on a busy street. Locals know about it because it's been in Manassas forever. I'll be back to try breakfast. read more

Came here on our way back from old town Manassas. It was a pleasant experience. Very old feel comfortable diner. The food was perfect for our needs, and while the menu only has dinner options for children, we all left very full with clean plates. When in the area again will definitely stop in! On a recent trip to get some COVID carryout, the dining area was packed, including the always-crowded cashier area, where the owner was overheard complaining to nearby customers about the new sanitizing requirements while his mask dangled from one ear. We came in from out of town to see some family and this place was top rated and A L L of my family recommended it. I got an omelet (it was huge!!) and hash browns and toast. Kind of a greasy-spoon joint. But that's what's available in the area, and we had a good meal. Like other folks have mentioned, it's a bit dated, a bit tired on the atmosphere, but otherwise, everything is fine. Staff are friendly, efficient, capable. The whole family ate here. Nobody complained, everyone cleaned his/her plate, and we were all satisfied with quantity, quality, and price. This place is an absolute must try. We went in at 8:45am on a Sunday and the place was busy, but we were seated right away. The servers were lightening fast, but stopped by to check in and chat with you for a moment. You feel like a long time family friend. The server even brought out the hot cake for my toddler first before our food because she knew he was hungry. The atmosphere and service was phenomenal. The only this that tops that is the food. Oh my goodness it is excellent. It is so homey and delicious. Every bite tasted like it was made with love. The portions and flavor were absolutely perfect. The biscuits are homemade. My Biker friends have been raving about the Yorkshire for years, so when I had errands in the Manassas area, I didn't hesitate to suggest breakfast there. The parking lot is quite crowded and difficult to navigate. Once you get past that, it's smooth sailing. Maybe that's how they keep problematic customers away? We were seated immediately on a VERY busy Saturday AM. Our food came out so fast, I couldn't believe it. The portion sizes are titanic, especially considiring the prices. The staff was friendly, but unobtrusive, waiting for a break in conversation to ask about refills on drinks. We left pretty quickly, just to be courteous, as there was a big line building up waiting for tables as we were finishing up. The Yorkshire has hit my list of top places for a pre-ride breakfast for sure! read more

Just a couple of minor complaints - The last visit I had ordered a small side of gravy to go with biscuits. They didn't tell me that they were out of biscuits before bringing out the plate, but luckily my husband and everyone else at the table were the last ones to get biscuits and they shared. They were out of decaf coffee once at breakfast time. Sad pregnant lady. :( Again, just a minor complaint. The last complaint - there is one waitress in the back every now and then that seems to be impatient and on edge. I had a bad vibe at this restaurant twice. The first time a group of four of us, obviously gay men, went in to eat lunch. This was back in 2000. All of us had bad meals. The wait staff was very unfriendly to us. Years later, thought I would give them another chance; went by myself for dinner, and the shrimp tasted like something out of a box and previously frozen. We went here for breakfast based on the level of stars and high reviews... but, for the first time - I feel really let down by yelpers.... if you are looking for am ambiance that includes visual building code violations, sticky menus, flea market reject decor and filthy carpeting... then you have hit the jackpot. Maybe if the food was better, I could have gotten past the crooked wall sconces, open HVAC unit and electrical chord storage right next to our table- maybe.... The food wasn't the worst I've had- but, it is not even close to a four star review.... the strawberry waffles are made with frozen strawberries that they warm up in the microwave because they're frozen. That's what we were told when we asked why they were warm and mushy ... Only pro is the price and quantity of food. read more
