I've been taking my cars to Alfred forever, and he's hands down the best in the neighborhood. Honest guy, fair prices, and always super professional and friendly. Even with a small setup, he actually cares about making sure you're comfortable while you wait; even when it's baking hot outside. He's been here for years for a reason. If you need a quick, hassle-free smog check from a great guy who treats people right, go see Alfred. read more

York Test Only - Cool fan in cozy corner to wait. - Smog Check Stations Near Me - Los Angeles, California

Quick, knowledgeable. There were 2 people ahead of me so I resigned myself to a wait. Had time to read 1 article in a magazine and he was done. I highly recommend! read more

Quick and easy for smog check. No waiting, no appt needed. Keep in mind it's a little hard to find. read more

Very kind, expensive a bit but worth it for the quick and compassionate care. Will definitely only be coming here if I need another

Did you know that Hybrid vehicles need to be smog checked? Well, neither did my friend so off to York Test Only we went. This place is small and located next to Donut Friend, which is a plus. You drive right into an old brick building and pull into the bay. There was one car ahead, so it was about a five-minute wait. The owner was friendly, and the test was quick. He sent the results directly to the DMV, my friend paid the $70 fee, and we were on our way. Next time I need a smog check, I'll come here, especially since it's close to home. *Helpful tip: The car before us didn't pass. The man told the shop owner he had recently put in a new battery. The shop owner told him that when you replace the batter in a car you need to drive it 100 miles for the emission system to reset. He said he would do that and come back. read more

Super fast, easy and great price. Would highly recommend for the required smog testing by the DMV.

Super easy. Hard to spot but you can just drive in. I was out in less than 10 minutes and prices were fair. I will be back.

I moved away from this shop and regret not coming back here immediately despite the drive. I had another shop lie and try to scam me out of money by falsely failing me and saying i needed new catalytic converters to pass and that I'd have to pay a lot to retest- despite my paperwork on hand. Having replaced them with a certified shop, I knew this was wrong. I brought it back to York and he walked me through it step by step, looking at my paperwork and listening to me, explaining the process and what he is required to do by law, verifying the information and showing me the numbers on my converters. He was clear, respectful, and incredibly helpful. This is the only place I will bring my car now when I need to have it smogged. read more

Was in and out in fifteen minutes, $70 total. Courteous service by Alfred, who turns the car around inside his garage so that the customer doesn't have to uncomfortably back the car onto York. He clearly knows what he's doing, and he didn't try to upsell or otherwise confuse the matter as can happen with auto maintenance places. I'm not sure how this compares to others on cost, but the service was as good as could be. I will return in the future when my car needs testing. read more

Awesome experience took me right away. Would definitely recommend this shop. Thank you

All the previous reviews brought me here and York Test Only delivered. Arrived at 9:06am on a Tuesday and left at 9:17am with my certificate sent directly to the dmv. Quick. Reasonable pricing. And kindness from the owner. This spot is legit. Only downside is the temptation for Donut Friend directly next door. But that's a point deduction on me, not YTO. read more

In and out no problems. Great to support small local business whenever possible, especially when providing a service that is so important for so many of us. read more

The entrance is a bit hidden, but it doesn't mean the boss doesn't know what he's doing. I've cube a couple of times and can get done quickly. Even if I don't have my DMV paperwork he can look it up and file electronically from the VIN. This visit he took pictures under the car which was strange. When I asked her says it's to record the catalytic converter info since it's not original. Yes, I had to replace it since it's a 2004. 17 years old! read more

I just got my 2008 Subaru tested here. No waiting, the test took about 10 minutes, the price was very reasonable, and the owner was professional and pleasant. All good! Support small locally owned business and keep your money in the community. read more

My fiancee recommended York Test Only to me as I was preparing to register my out-of-state car. I was absolutely not disappointed. I rolled in around 10 AM, and I was the only one there. Albert was on the phone, but took care of me very quickly. 10 minutes after I went in, I was done, and I was glad to hear my car passed the smog check. If you don't want to wait forever and want to get your smog check efficiently, head over to York Test Only. I had a great and painless experience, and I will definitely use him again and recommend Albert to anyone needing a smog test. read more

Dropped off the car for a smog test and when I came back I was informed that they didn't run the test because I had a hose that needed to be replaced (running from the air filter to the intake) and that if he had run the rest with the existing hose I would surely fail the test. Replaced the hose, came back, passed with flying colors. Never letting anyone else smog test my car in the future! Very much appreciate when someone treats me as well as I've been treated. read more

Highly recommend. Alfred was quick, easy and great price. In and out in less than 10 minutes. Going here for all my future smog checks.

Had to get my first smog check in almost 10 years so I really didn't have a "go to" place to go for that. I found a few near my home. York Smog caught my eye because of the good ratings so I decided to give them a try. I was not disappointed. I stopped by on a Tuesday afternoon around 3pm. I walked in and found my timing was great. Alfred was just finishing up another car and he could take me next. He smogged my (8 year old) car in about 15 minutes with no problems. The whole process took less than 20 minutes. His price was more than fair ($60). I will definitely be back when I need another smog. I already recommended him to my neighbor. Highly recommended to anyone who lives in the Eagle Rock/Highland Park area. read more

As many of us are, I am VERY intimidated by anything having to do with car repairs or car needs. We bought a used Prius on Saturday and it needed to be smogged for the DMV registration paperwork to be completed. Well, my husband suggested that I go to York Test Only. It was the most PAINLESS, EASY, and FAST experience for ANYTHING that I have had to do for a car. I was sitting on a comfy sofa watching The Today Show while Alfred did his thing! From driving in - to driving out, it was 10 minutes TOPS!! Definitely go see Alfred!! Support local business!! read more

This is my go to place for smog test in Los Angeles. Even though I live 30 minutes away, it's worth a drive. If you come early (7-8am), you'll be out in 5-10 minutes. Alfred the owner of this test center is the man! He is very friendly, honest and knows what he is doing. He will check first if your car is ready for smog emission testing. If not, he will give you his honest recommendations and tips how to pass and will not charge you for the service. Cost for the test and certification is cheap and competitive. I highly recommend this place for your next smog test. You will drive home with a smile :) read more
