Did you know that Hybrid vehicles need to be smog checked? Well, neither did my friend so off to York Test Only we went. This place is small and located next to Donut Friend, which is a plus. You drive right into an old brick building and pull into the bay. There was one car ahead, so it was about a five-minute wait. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The owner was friendly, and the test was quick.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] He sent the results directly to the DMV, my friend paid the $70 fee, and we were on our way. Next time I need a smog check, I'll come here, especially since it's close to home. *Helpful tip: The car before us didn't pass. The man told the shop owner he had recently put in a new battery. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Courteous service by Alfred, who turns the car around inside his garage so that the customer doesn't have to uncomfortably back the car onto York.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] He clearly knows what he's doing, and he didn't try to upsell or otherwise confuse the matter as can happen with auto maintenance places. I moved away from this shop and regret not coming back here immediately despite the drive. I had another shop lie and try to scam me out of money by falsely failing me and saying i needed new catalytic converters to pass and that I'd have to pay a lot to retest- despite my paperwork on hand. Having replaced them with a certified shop, I knew this was wrong. The entrance is a bit hidden, but it doesn't mean the boss doesn't know what he's doing. I've cube a couple of times and can get done quickly. Even if I don't have my DMV paperwork he can look it up and file electronically from the VIN. This visit he took pictures under the car which was strange. When I asked her says it's to record the catalytic converter info since it's not original. Yes, I had to replace it since it's a 2004. 17 years old! read more

Dropped off the car for a smog test and when I came back I was informed that they didn't run the test because I had a hose that needed to be replaced (running from the air filter to the intake) and that if he had run the rest with the existing hose I would surely fail the test. As many of us are, I am VERY intimidated by anything having to do with car repairs or car needs. I've come here for two smog checks and it was quick and painless. There was just one guy there. I gave him my keys, the form from the DMV and it was done in 10 minutes. They submit the results to the DMV for you. Cost in 2018 is $50 including tax.
