After being rushed to our table by a very rude hostess we were met by our waitress who did not even give us a chance to get to our table let alone sit down or put our items down before asking what we wanted to drink. Yikes. York Buffet is the smallest, dirtiest and most disgusting buffet I have ever eaten at. I'm not much of a buffet fan to begin with but this was just ew. Stopped in for lunch and it wasn't very packed. Understandably so, that the food tasted as if it had been sitting there for hours untouched. All the food was practically dried out, the General Tso's could have almost passed for a nasty Orange Chicken and the sushi rice was crusty and had a very fishy taste. Overall, I think the price I paid was far more than I would have ever wanted to give to this establishment. Locals always praise A-Won Buffet and I am sad they went out of business, before I got to try ti out. Let's just hope that whatever opens in that space, will deter people away from this place and give them a taste of something that actually resembles Asian food. read more

We eat at York Buffet. When we arrived they had the little signs up at the dinner items you were not supposed to eat. We did not eat any of the dinner items due to the signs. So we thought we would be charged the lunch price. But. They charged all three of us the dinner price. My wife complained. The only discount they allowed us was the 15 percent coupon we had. The guy told us. Dinner is based on the time you arrive not on what you eat. If this is so. Big place. Lots of food. Attentive servers. Clean. We focused on the entree foods. Had the usual Chinese/Asian style foods. Also we tried some unusual foods we hadn't seen before on a buffet: Dim Song, bacon wrapped shrimp, kimchee, crawfish. There was a nice salad bar. Enjoyed the self-served ice cream and sherbets. I've had worse! Honestly, the food isn't all that bad. Your typical Chinese American buffet choices. I like to take advantage of the hibachi grill, always fresh and tastes pretty good. I love sushi and they have some here, but not much of a selection and nothing is labeled so often you don't know what you're getting. My big issue with this place is the service. Our waiters/waitresses are usually pretty good, they keep drinks full and clear plates. But the last time I was here, if I wanted something made on the hibachi grill, it was as if I was bothering him. Same when I asked for a sushi roll to be made (same guy doing both). Never a smile or a "you're welcome". If you hate your job, quit, but no need to take it out on customers. Needless to say, I won't be back. This is your typical Chinese place but with a much larger selection. The price is fair for what you get. The place was clean and food was freshly prepared for the buffet. I would go back for lunch when it is less expensive. They offer Chinese food and American so they have something for everyone. We had to track down out server for refills. My husband and I went here and loved the food but after our first plate all the waitress were rushing us out when we weren't even there for 20 minutes when they brought us our check. Despite what the people say here, lets be honest: this is a large buffet. It will get crowded and a little messy. IF these other reviewers found dirt, I don't know where. The bathrooms are always clean or in the process of being clean. The food is the same as if you went to an american buffet: good, solid food. Nothing fancy, they wouldn't have the time! The dishes are always clean, and the tables are never full of crumbs. The carpets are clean. They have a nice place to make your own noodle bowl, and some REALLY good pot stickers. There's both a chinese and american food section, both of which are pretty good! Their lo mein is delicious, and they have a really nice salad bar. I really can't complain about this place. I've been there ALL hours of the day, and I've never had a problem. My family goes back all the time:) read more

Looks can be deceiving, I've dined at this restaurant a total of 3 times. Always during a family gathering, unfortunately every time we've ate at this restaurant we've had a horrible experience. The food is NEVER FRESH, we thought maybe if we go at an earlier time maybe the food would be fresh..... WRONG the steaks advertised as "fresh steaks every night" look disgusting, the rice looks like it's from 4 days ago. The food is great , but the staff's health practices are without a doubt a deal breaker from this point on. At least two times during my visit today i witnessed a female buffet area worker sneeze onto the food and then wipe her hands on the rag. Then she cross contaminated her rag onto a table to wipe the rail down. The same person and same rag contaminated the handles of at least 8 other buffet serving utensils . GARBAGE. STAY FAR AWAY. Only rated 2 stars instead of 1 due to the nice environment. I ignored the bad reviews here on Yelp because I've been to places that had horrible reviews online that were actually really good. But this place is NOT an exception, and I wish I had listened to the reviewers. You get a great 1st impression when you walk in, the environment is breath-taking for about a minute or two, it looks like a 5 star restaurant. But that's about as good as it gets, things go downhill swiftly from that point forward. I took a browse of all the food and it I wondered if someone had screwed with my head, because I swore when i walked in there were many more bars with food than there was. After i looked around I realized the interior design was deliberately designed to create an optical illusion to make it look like there was more food bars, mainly due to the use of several mirrors which many chinese buffets use around the food areas to make the place look huge when you walk in. So, onto the food....it looked really good and appeared to be very good quality. Once again, looks can be deceiving. Most of the food had a nasty, low quality feel and a bizarre taste that I cannot even describe. The General Tso's chicken was ok, and so was the green beans, but everything else was pretty mediocre like your typical chinese buffet. The sushi is the worst I have ever had, it had a very nasty taste and was dried up, i love sushi very much and i could only eat two pieces of it here it was that gross, and shortly after i felt sick, I think it was partly spoiled and it was tough like rubber. The soda was disgusting, my fiance and I ordered Pibb Xtra which is what they told us they had, but when asked for a refill the waitress argued that they did not have Pibb and that they only had Dr Pepper. Regardless, the soda tasted like Coke mixed with Pibb mixed with Dr Pepper, we could not figure out what it was, I'm starting to think it was some cheap store brand soda. Please do yourself a favor and keep your family away from this place, not only is the food gross and a poor selection, but the food does not fill you up either, half hour later i was hungry. read more

We visited this place only because we were staying at the nearby hotel and the hotel had a flyer in the room that offered 10% off. I wish we had not gone here. Moreover, I wish I had visited yelp prior to going. Had no idea someone had posted a pic of the restaurant being closed for insect/rodent infestation in november 2013.
