Okay, so I've heard a few reviews from my mates at my local jiujitsu gym so I've had high expectations. I went to this place for the first time taking by my father for his retirement ceremony dinner with my momma. Being a Japanese man raised with Japanese food, going to Japan and experiencing authentic Japanese sushi, my reviews are not the norm in Lancaster pa. First, I love the fact that they offer sashimi/nigiri options for a low price of 5.99 plus the standard ayce option of 19.99. They also offer the kitchen menus such as tempuras, lo Mein, egg drop soup,calamari, chicken wings and more... BYOB just adds to the bonus BOO YAHH!!! The staff were attentive and nice and the variety of menu for my appetite was worth the price for the three of us. The reason it didn't get the last star was due to the expectation of ayce be the speed that the foods were served. Sushi items were slow to be served compared to the self served sushi options at the local ayce places but they had some great ayce menus such as yellow tail and scallop (must try) nigiri and squid sashimi (king of mollusks). I highly recommend this restaurant. It is not a fancy restaurant, but the atmosphere is very quiet and peaceful and you don't feel rushed. We were able to take our time and relax and enjoy our meal. The food was very good, we had the all you can eat sushi at $23 a person. The all you can eat menu included other items besides sushi. It was a good value. It included all you can eat ice cream for dessert! Our server was a young individual by the name of Lauren who provided us very good service. She was very attentive! But the sushi, I did not do the AYCE option just did the regular sushi menu but I got the feeling that the nigiri especially was sort of the AYCE size (small pieces of fish etc) I had tobiko sushi and there was barely enough tobiko to cover the eggs. My daughter and I just left and we're pleasantly surprised by some of it and thought other things could be better. The silverware (at least mine) was spotty and I had to wipe it off. We started out with edamame which was great. (We ate all of it.) I ordered sushi and Olivia ordered chicken pad Thai and we both shared with each other. My first sushi bite was great. They were big pieces and it wasn't all rice. It tasted pretty good. (Not the best spicy tuna I've ever had but it wasn't the worst either.) I ordered 2 rolls and that was plenty. I didn't even finish half of it. They have a special of all you can eat sushi for like $23 or something but we didn't get that because there is no need. I tried Olivia's Pad Thai and it wasn't that great. It was lacking chicken, nuts, veggies, etc. It tasted like a big bowl of noodles, and if you go to a place that specializes in pad Thai it's usually way better. Our server was nice and helpful. She gave us her recommendations and we started with Miso soup which was really good. When we finished the bill was on the low side of $30 so it was more than reasonable. When talking to Olivia about it we both agreed that we eventually would come here again but since we're new to Lancaster we'll explore other places first before coming again. Arrived here on a Friday, around 7pm after about an hour drive, there were maybe 5 tables that were seated, place semed not that busy. A young fella told us that there would be a wait, when we asked how long, the lady (making the sushi, seemed to be the boss) totally yelled, not happy to see us the least bit, even the young fella seemed embarrased. Did the ayce sushi option. Ordered some appetizers and sushi rolls. Appetizers were okay, got the shrimp tempura and it was really oily and not much shrimp, but a lot of batter. Sushi arrived, we ordered several rolls. All had the same consistency such as very soft sushi rice almost mushy?! Rolls were huge and rolled with lots of rice, we had to remove some of the rice to make it more one bite size. Also the ginger for the sushi tasted old. For dessert we got ice cream. We decided to try this place out despite having poor experiences at all you can eat sushi places, but this is new to our area and we wanted to check it out, we will not be back. We only had sushi, all you can eat, and we didn't even get to look at the Chinese menu because the host took it from us as soon as we sat down, she asked us which menu we wanted and we told her this was our first time here, after she explained the ordering system for the AYCE sushi, she took the other menu. We got here at 6pm on a Friday night and were surprised that we were only one of two tables, but we figured we would soon find out the reason. The price is fine, you can order up to 3 rolls or 5 pieces of sushi at a time, just so you aren't wasteful, and they give you an appetizer form which had some decent selections. We ordered edamame, miso soup, house salad and sweet potato tempura, I recommend them all, very good, decent portion. The sushi arrived and the eel sauce is completely weird, the fish is non existent and the rolls are half rice. The host clearly noticed our reaction to the sushi and tried to apologize for the poor work of the sushi chef, completely putting blame on him for skimping on product and trying to stuff rice as a filling. Overall I love this place and tell everyone about it. Only complaint I have ever had is the woman usually on the phone. Idk if she owns the place or what but I'll call sometimes and I'll get "don't come here, we are packed just don't come". Also tried calling in sushi in the past and the same lady was rude like really rude so my wife hung up the phone on her and we ate somewhere else. I went here on a Friday evening and I found the food to be decent for the lancaster area. They have an all you can eat dining option for 20.99 where you are able to order from a menu that has an array of appetizers and sushi options. You order in rounds and are only able to order three items at a time. The main issue I've noticed is the lack of staff. This place seems family owned and utilizes two younger teens as the wait staff, one person making sushi and at least another individual in the back fulfilling other orders. Since there only appears to be one person present making sushi, I would advise to only select the all you can eat if the place is not that busy as you will be waiting 30-40mins+ just to get your first order like we experienced. These wait times increased as more and more customers arrived and were seated as well as pick up orders arriving. When it's time to order another round of food you'll prob have to wait another 40mins+ at least to receive the food. These long periods for an all you can eat sushi dining option will leave you questioning if you should wait it out to maximize your 20.99 or take the loss and value your time. After two rounds we decided to ask for the check. We left and ended up going to another place as we were still hungry. This place has potential but the lack of kitchen staff definitely inhibits the restaurants ability to keep pace with the demand which greatly hampers the dining experience for the customers. The food is not worth the wait in my opinion. A solution to this would be to hire another sushi chef to keep up with demand, or control the demand by not seating more guests then the restaurant can service in a timely manner read more

I love coming here. It has become my boyfriend and I's Saturday tradition. My two favorite rolls are the chicken tempura rolls and the spicy lobster rolls. Decided to go here on my hour long lunch break (2 minute drive from where I work). Only one or two tables were occupied during lunch. We ordered almost immediately from the AYCE menu. I ordered a vegetable roll, a side of vegetable lo mein, and a side of fried rice. It took 45 minutes to receive any of my food while my partner was served two dishes and tables that arrived after us were given dish after dish. Even though I am a vegetarian, I started picking the rice off of my partner's (non-vegetarian) sushi rolls while waiting for my food. They brought dishes to our table from tables that were sat after us while we were waiting for our food. They forgot about my vegetable roll and served several other tables sushi. I had to eat all three dishes within 10 minutes and leave. I had to leave my partner to take care of the check so I could return to work. The waitress also scolded the table next to us for sharing, because of their no sharing policy for tables that are mixed with AYCE and those who order off of the menu. Decent AYCE sushi here... Disappointed that the "crab" was actually Krab (imitation crabmeat). This is something they should specify and correct (spelling) on their menu. The aioli mixes were too mayonnaise-y. Not enough sriracha or wasabi taste to them. The ginger smelled like a dirty old rag :-( which made it difficult to swallow. So I skipped out on the rest of the ginger. The rolls were pretty good. Got the Chef Special, Perfect Match, and either the Crush or Okinii (can't remember). The deep fried ones were huge. The ones with cream cheese had way too much cr cheese in them. The end pieces were way too large to eat in one mouthful. Almost donut size. I had to cut it up.
