To Whom It May Concern, I am writing to express my disappointment regarding the rude service I received during my recent visit to your restaurant. Your restaurant offers a wide variety of food and appears to do well financially. For the most part, the food is decent. However, the attitudes of some of the waitstaff were extremely unprofessional and disrespectful. When I entered the restaurant with an elderly relative, instead of approaching us politely and asking how many were in our party, one waitress yelled across the room. I understand the restaurant can get busy, but basic manners and customer service should still apply--especially when serving seniors. I also observed that when larger parties entered, this same waitress rushed to assist them, seemingly prioritizing them for financial reasons. As someone who understands the service industry, I recognize that waitstaff rely on tips. However, customers should never be asked or pressured for tips. Good service naturally encourages tipping. One waitress, a tall and thin woman, had a noticeably poor attitude. While she was not the one who asked for a tip, another waitress--shorter in stature and possibly a co-owner--was equally rude. She abruptly snatched the payment pad from one of my family members after they had signed, which was completely inappropriate. In contrast, there was a third asian waitress--wearing glasses with a round face--who was kind, respectful, and professional. She treated everyone with dignity regardless of appearance. I would gladly tip her and encourage others to do the same. The other two waitresses could learn a great deal from her example. This was my second visit to your restaurant, and it will likely be my last. I have visited other Chinese buffets in the area where the staff are consistently polite and welcoming, and I would rather support businesses that value customer respect. When customers come into your establishment, they are spending their hard-earned money and should be treated accordingly. I spent close to $40 during this visit, and had I returned with more family members, that amount could easily have reached $100. Poor service like this costs businesses repeat customers and will hurt in the long run if it continues. I do not want anyone to lose their job--especially in today's job market--but retraining in customer service is clearly needed. Tip or no tip, all customers deserve respect. Kindness is often rewarded, sometimes in ways staff may not expect.I remember one young lady was so kind I came back to the restaurant and she did not even expect to get a tip from me and I tipped her. I did not even eat anything but I remembered how kind she was to me and other people. I came back at a time when she did not expect to return the kindness she had shown my family. There was also an incident involving utensils. When I went to the front to ask for a fork, a waitress yelled, "Yeah?". This was the tall thin waitress, at me in an aggressive manner. I am a grown man in my 40s, likely old enough to be her father. That type of behavior is unacceptable in any professional setting. Other people were asking for forks so I was not the only one. The food itself is good, but good food does not make up for poor customer service. There are many alternatives available, including cooking at home, which I already do. There are other Chinese Buffets in the area so I can always go to another one. Heck there are enough YouTube videos and products in the market I can cook some Chinese food myself. In fact I have especially, the egg rolls and I'm pretty good at cooking them. Hey if they like treating people especially senior citzens like that then more power to them. This black man is not giving them anymore of his hard earned money. Three days later their service is straight up disrespectful and disgusting. I went there two times once as a business trip and once with my family and both times they were trying to kick us out prematurely during the business trip. There were 5 of us meeting there for lunch. We got there at 11:30 and as soon as we got inside the doors she had to seat 3 or us, we couldn't wait for the other 2 to arrive which was about 5 minutes later. We are just taking our coats off and the waiter arrives and wants to know what we want to drink. Food was OK nothing to jump up and down about. A lot of the items on the buffet were not even marked what they were. 12:11 before we are even done eating he brings me the check to pay and lays it on the table with the 15% gratuity added on. We were still eating 5 minutes later and he came back to the table looking for payment. I stopped eating, handed him a coupon I had and the check back. He went and got a revised check and was back again in less than 2 minutes. I handed him $90 cash and he never came back with the change which was under $2. Finally I could finish my food. Our server was very sweet and attentive. She was right there every time we had an empty plate to take away and kept our drink cups full. My daughter dropped her fork on the ground and she came right over to give her a new set of silverware. One of the food lady's was on the other hand very rude to my daughter. My daughter didn't want to put noodles on her plate with the rest of her food which was mostly fruit so she put them in a bowl instead. As soon as she was about to head back to our table the lady ran up to her and told her not to do that that the bowls were for soup and ice cream only and took the bowl right out of her hands. Food was decent, most of it was just warm and not hot which is what you expect from a buffet. After I paid and left I happened to look at the receipt and noticed my daughter was charged as an adult. The selection of food and stock was great! They really do have everything you can think of, and everything was full and hot. This time around, we went for my daughter's birthday, 12/28/24. We were seated right by the sushi bar. The lady behind the counter at the sushi bar was watching every single thing I took. Keep in mind, this is an ALL YOU CAN EAT PLACE. He stated that if I wanted sashimi (I didn't even know what that was at the time) then all I had to do was ask. Mind you there's no signs. The woman behind the sushi counter was never there, or when she was there she was eating behind the bar so I didn't want to ask her anything. I did initially ask her for eel sauce and she didn't speak English. So in reality how was I supposed to converse with her anyhow?! The remainder of the meal she was STARING at me. Heading back again from Baltimore to our fav Asian restaurant for Sunday lunch. We got their late a week or so ago and paid dinner prices , but unless we had no other choices ( plenty in area like Cheddars, etc.) we felt the dinner offerings didn't add value as we don't eat most of those specials. However it got packed for dinner. I did enjoy the curry chicken soup as that was new for me. I'd like to see fresher or even frozen chicken and beef in the grill area, but opting not to include them more recently and add those items from the self-serve instead. Would love the addition of peanut chicken we enjoyed at another local buffet before Covid closed that down. 45 min drive for a bunch of cost and quality conscious younger seniors should tell readers something about our repeated visits. I learned to not overdue the chili sauce I love too much , as it makes for repeat restroom visits in a hurry! I like to balance the spicier side of me with the seafood salad(fake crab at salad area) as it soothes the mouthful of spice with another bite of the cold fish. I am greeted and shown to a table by a very shy yet grateful young woman who didn't speak much English. The wait staff was pleasant as much to be expected for a Chinese food buffet. You're not going to find any type of southern hospitality here, but you will find a decent meal that's more affordable than Chinese food take-out. The Eats: The food selections were plentiful, and for a buffet place, it was actually very clean. The bar had fresh Asian and American food selections that ranged from pizza, French fries, chicken tenders, Chinese food, crab legs, various seafood, Asian fusion, hibachi, and a cold salad and dessert bar. The sushi was fine and prepared freshly right there as you watch with a meticulous and judgmental eye. I went here to meet a party of 16 - yeah 16! I figured 6 or 8, but we all had a side room with four tables and were not crowded together at all. I like the fact that you can get crab legs, but for the price you should probably just go somewhere that does crab legs right. They have a wide variety of foods including the usual chinese stuff- low mein and General Tso's, but they have fruit and salad and sushi with some pot stickers and dim sum too. I don't think anything I had really impressed me, but it didn't gross me out either. Be warned if you get the sweet tea it is SWEET! It is about 16 sugars in a pint...I diluted with a whole pint of water and it was still too sweet. I found the service to be decent -taking away our dirty dishes and puttying up with our sometimes loud group. I am not sure where to begin here, do I discuss the taste, quality or service. The food was very bland in my opinion. My stir fry was very watery and bland. The sauces used on it seemed very watered down. My potstickers were crunchy and also bland. My general Tao's chicken was very mild and soggy. My egg drop soup was surprisingly bland as well. This may be par for the course though. I never was offered a refill on my drink though it was empty for quite a while. I think the food was good, but the service leaves much to be desired. I visited this restaurant with a group and we were treated badly by the staff. The issue was that we were accused of some of us not paying our bill, and that was because of the haphazard method they used of collecting the fees. They came back-n-forth collecting the individual tabs, but didn't even give all of us receipts. We had to defend ourselves on the way out, and once a staff member stepped forward and confirmed that we did all pay, it was dismissed. We got an apology, but this should never happen to anyone, and I told the staff person this. I go to this buffet when I'm in the mood for Chinese and in the area. They have a big selection of Chinese, Mongolian BBQ, and Sushi. I normally go during lunchtime since the lunchtime special is half-price, which is really reasonable. However, yesterday my schedule was running late for being in the area, so it was full-price, which in my opinion isn't worth it considering I don't eat the steak, crab legs, or other dinner related offerings. I love sushi, but I never get it unless I am in a good sushi restaurant. I took a chance on the sushi, that looked good, but tasted old and fishy. My mother got crab legs and said they were overcooked and dried out. I usually like the baked salmon, but it too, was overcooked and dried out. There weren't many vegetable selections besides green beans and broccoli with carrots and rice, of course. It was approximately 5:00 PM and the place was empty. I can see why. At lunchtime, the place is full of people and the staff is constantly refilling the food serving dishes. During dinner last night, it was obvious that the food had been sitting under the heat lamps too long. After I got home, I was reading the York Daily Record and it had the most recent health department inspection results listed. To my surprise, York Buffet and Grille was listed as failing their inspection with a long list of violations. Had I known this beforehand, I would have never eaten there. Never again!
