We placed an order online. The information on screen while placing the order was that it would be ready before 7:00 pm (order was placed just after 6:00 pm). Once the order was finalized we got a text saying the order would be ready after 7:00 pm. We didn't think much of this because it was a Saturday night. That was the last communication we received. I called the restaurant at 7:15 and was told the order was "all set". The food was ready and was sitting there waiting for us to pick it up. Excellent! We ordered two pizzas and the basil pesto bread for takeout. Food was ready exactly when they said and was steaming hot walking out to the car on a chilly January evening. " We ordered on-line during a busy Friday during the summer season.The boys had had pizza, which was homemade and crispy and had a nice amount of cheese on it. I ordered the Southwestern fajita. It was crispy, flavorful and had just the right amount of heat. It came with a spicy dill dipping sauce. My husband had the hamburger fajita and he said the onions were crunchy the meat was flavorful, the actual fajita bread was toasted to ultimate crispiness! After having a few beers at SoMe Brewery, we needed something to absorb all of the alcohol before our drive home. I looked on Yelp and saw that York 54 was right next door and had great reviews so we have it a shot. The place is small and you can see everything being cooked from pretty much where ever you're sitting in the restaurant. We decided to get the margherita pizza. The ingredients tasted so fresh and the pizza was cooked perfectly! Next time we're in the area we will be back to try something different off of their menu. For pizza we got the Weather Report and the Winter Harvest. The toppings were tasty and the crust was perfect. This is a small restaurant with about 8-10 tables and a bar. We went there on a Saturday night and it was quiet; it seemed like most of the business was for take-out or delivery. I enjoyed their pizza more than When Pig's Fly in Kittery. York 54 is small... and busy, but probably my favorite pizza in Southern Maine. Many a time I have wandered over after a happy hour drink or 2 at wiggly bridge for some garlic bread and a pie. I would recommend getting one of the house specialties or if you are brave a Build your own. My favorite is Sausage, Ricotta, spinach and roasted garlic. I've stopped into this spot twice over the past few years- and both times had a great meal! Most recently, the husband and I went for a light lunch. Perfect personal size pizza- though served more of a flatbread style. Mine was a vegetarian portion, olives, tomato, spinach and feta, with beautiful wedges of artichoke hearts....and per request, a white sauce rather than traditional red. The husband had a harvest type with apples, squash, arugula and the most amazing bits of thick crisp bacon that will make you tear up with joy! First time but won't be the last. I was looking for a spot between Portsmouth and Wells to meet up with family visiting from out of town. What's the first thing one does? Yelp of course. Yes, pizzas, each of us got our own personal pizza. I went with the Kind, a white pizza w/ roasted garlic & mushrooms. It was very good, nice crust...served on flooring tiles. We also had the Big, sliced apples, candied pecans again...cheese, don't remember what it was now but it was really good. Next time that's going to be my choice. Lastly, we got the red curry pizza for those who just can't choose between Thai and pizza. It was like a fresh Thai salad on a pizza with a zing from the sriracha glaze. All in all a success. Our server checked on us, chit chatted a bit with the "first time here?", "where you from" questions. As we left one of the gals thanked us and wished us a good night and as we got to the door a guy working the ovens also thanked us (he had the air of ownership/management).
