Not that long ago I found Yoli's Tacos while searching Yelp for Mexican restaurants within a short radius of my neighborhood. After a yoga workout this weekend I was in the mood to try a different restaurant I had not tried before and Yoli's came in mind. I ordered takeout via Yelp which was actually a wise decision in the long run. Prior to walking out my door I already had an idea of what I wanted to order, so as I warmed up my vehicle I placed my order on Yelp with hopes that it would be ready by the time I arrived. Other than tacos, there were two items that my taste buds yearned for after looking at pictures shared on Yelp, which was the Suizo Dinner Burrito, and the Grilled Chicken Salad. I loved the Grilled Chicken Salad because it had fruit on it which I thought was unique in comparison to salads I have had before. I ended up ordering the Suizo Dinner Burrito which was more on the lines of what I had the taste for, but on a different day I would love to order either the Grilled Chicken Salad or tacos. It was a witch hunt trying to locate a parking spot along Chicago Ave because the restaurant does not have a lot of its own. I am just thankful I ordered takeout because all it was was simply finding a spot to park then going inside to pick up my order which would have been a nightmare if I tried to order inside. I probably would have said the hell with it at some point. That Burrito Suizo was huge! And good! I ended up eating half of it then the other half later in the day taking me a total of six hours to finish the whole meal entirely. As for my ordering experience with Yoli's Tacos it was satisfying! So I ordered for delivery from here because they had a $5 off coupon. It had no stipulations on it, just 5 off. Well, I placed my order and maybe 5 minutes later, they canceled it. I had no idea why, maybe some issue at the restaurant. Anyway, I went to order from another restaurant and I saw Yolis was still on the coupon section. So I clicked it and they changed it to $5 off $50. So basically they saw my order, saw it probably was only $15 bucks with the coupon and decided it was not worth it. I understand if you want to change it, but you really should honor the order and change it after my order. It's not my fault you did not put a stipulation on it, it should be honored. I drive past this taco spot on a regular basis, so I had to stop and check them out. The pastor taco was good enough to make me want to give them another chance, but the steak taco and rice were disappointing. The steak taco wasn't bad, but it wasn't good either. Steak was lacking flavor, consistency, and freshness. The rice was very disappointing as it was cold, hard, and not very flavorful. If I tried them again, then I'd probably stick with the pastor but maybe order it in a torta since that seems to be their speciality. read more

We loved our first experience ordering Yoli's takeout! We called in the order (with some additions & subtractions) and the girl up front nailed it! We can HIGHLY recommend the vegetarian tacos even for non-vegetarians (like ourselves). They're LOADED -- Beans, rice, avocado, tomato, lettuce, onions, cilantro! Both salsas are great too. Wow this place went downhill fast. I've tried to give them a few chances, benefit of the doubt, but they have consistently gotten worse and always mess up our order (which is sad when I am the only person in the joint. It's not like they are slammed with business). The last two times we have ordered delivery from them they have left out items. So, this time I went to the restaurant to make sure we got all the stuff we ordered. Well that didn't help much either. I didn't realize I needed to literally unwrap the aluminum and check the order so closely. They skipped the sour cream on the burrito and it was wrapped poorly. This is what they give for the chips and salsa now. They used to give the green salsa and now it's pico de gallo in a small cup. They used to fill a brown bag with chips and now use these tiny bags with 20 chips. Seriously, skip this place. read more

Usually, I look up a place on Yelp before I eat there. This time, I had a gig nearby and was starving right after. I couldn't afford to spend the time to find a place. This place is the definition of a no-frills restaurant that could be a family operation from what I could tell. I ordered the Taco Dinner (3x Carne Asada Tacos, Rice & Beans) along with the Large Horchata (32oz) and it was all muy delicioso (very delicious). The steak is tender, juicy, and crispy at the same time (due to its smaller cuts of the steak - it cooks/crisps very fast.) The flavor was spectacular. I was genuinely blown away by how good this food was. The tacos were very filling. And for $2.40 per taco?! That's unbelievable for the price. The kicker? The green sauce. How in the f@$# does this place have 3 1/2 stars? If you can get food anywhere else get it there. This place is so terrible. Vibe had food here 3 times and 2 out of 3 the order was screwed up but this time I got an expired coke that made my stomach hurt for hours to be honest I don't know if it was the coke.theybbarelynput any ingredients on here. Skeptical based on the reviews alone, but tempted by $7 off coupon from Grubhub I went against my better judgment and ordered anyway. 75 minutes delivery estimate, ok that's fine the kicker was when my food actually arrived. In walks in the delivery driver who immediately glances at the receipt and demands that I give him a $5 tip for his delivery. I hadn't even grabbed my order out of his hand before he demanded a cash tip. He stood there with a stern look on his face and I told him that I would tip him because I appreciated his service but that it wasn't a requirement especially if he was going to be rude. No sooner than I tip him and he scurried out the door, I open the bag to find the beans were spilled over and running over everything. Rice had fallen out and I managed to salvage and eat what was left of it since I hadn't eaten all day. I bit into my burrito and half way through I could tell they'd not added the avocado or cheese as I requested. Rice, withered lettuce,tomatoes,beans and sour cream is what I got instead. All in all you get what you pay for. I should've followed my first mind and ordered from Jarabe Mexican Street Food on Taylor st. Now those are some great tacos and the Tex- Mex veggie burrito is EVERYYYYYYTHING. The only reason I gave these place 1 star is because Catia, who worked at the restaurant. When I called to explain what happened she was very courteous and eager to rectify the situation. She also stated that the restaurant has notated and recognized that since hiring this so called "driving company" they've had complaints about deliveries more and more than in the past. This place is my neighborhood goto for a quick bite. They are fast and prices are great. I love their horchata and their taco dinner, which is a great price. This once was our neighborhood taco joint. For a year an a half we stopped by 2-3 times/mo. The small, no frills restaurant is run by a family. They were waiting tables, taking phone orders and cooking up some fresh Mexican favorites. More recently I've noticed that quality has gone down a bit. Perhaps in the past, someone else manned the grill. Example of what I mean: Rather than having a nice sear and flavor on the steak, it's grey, and greasy. The tacos/burritos/etc have ended up being soggy or seemingly thrown together. I do still love their salsas, prices, and speed to the plate/take out window. The food isn't mind blowing by any means, but I'm all about supporting independently owned restaurants, so I been 3 times now. Def hope they get their service and menu ironed out that way they can stay around for a while. They are located in the perfect neighbrohood to really take off if they get their act together. They delivered all the way out to my River North neighborhood -- where there is hardly any authentic Mexican food-- so this was a pleasant surprise to my taste buds. I got two tacos (asada, pastor) both were deliciously crisp and the accompanying salsas were phenomenal. I also got a sopa Azteca, which was great! Can't say enough about how great it is to have this place within walking distance of my apartment. It's real food at a good price and you will feel SATISFIED. The staff is always nice. I live extremely close by but would rather take the bus to Dona Naty's for cheap but good eats or walk to Taco el Jaliscience for very tasty but somewhat pricier fare. UPDATE: I ordered from yolis once more hoping it was a one time mess up last time. I asked for no cilantro at least five times and the girl on the phone reassured me she heard me. I got home with my tacos and all three were covered with cilantro and it was in the cheese so I couldn't pick it out. I'm very sad to say I will not be ordering from here anymore My boyfriend and I go here frequently but we were incredibly disappointed last night. I ordered two tacos and said without onions or cilantro twice. We came back home and they were both loaded with onions. My boyfriend called and they said they would give us two for the price of one taco if he came back. He reordered and said please no onion and cilantro but when he came back the tacos had cilantro mixed into the meat making it really hard to pick out. Visiting Chicago and decided on this hole in the wall for tacos. Inexpensive, with attentive service. Chips come with three different dips. Had a steak taco which was delish (get the onion and cilantro for 25 cents extra). The steak quesadilla was to die for! The breakfast meals are huge and come with plentiful tacos. Both are well seasoned and always delivers. You don't find any of those hard chunky bits that I've come to associate with many Mexican joint's meat quality. Improvements: They could stand to salt the avocado a little more, its usually a little bland for my tastes, but that's a very nit-picky comment. Yoli's Taco is my neighborhood taqueria - within walking distance so I see it as a fallback option. The main difference between great and good tacos can be quite subtle. I look for meat quality, juiciness, greasiness, flavor, and overall balance. Yoli's meets the minimum standards - more on the greasy side and not as seasoned as my favorite places. My friend had the burrito and really enjoyed it, too. If you don't have high standards for your tacos, this will do the job! read more

Went there on the recommendation of a worker at Dark Matters down the street who gave us this choice or another one further away. She warned us it was a bit of a hole in the wall but had good food. So we weren't expecting much from atmosphere point of view so bang on there. Food also was bang on. Real tasty quesadilla, beef fajita and beef tacos. The tacos were dirt cheap at a bit more than $2/each. The others were very reasonable too. Quesadilla may have been a bit on the heavy side due to the extr thick tortilla. But felt like pretty good home made comfort food which was just fine for us after eating a lot of rich heavy food at all of the other touristy places we seemed to be visiting.
