Wow! This place was the best unexpected surprise. I happened upon it as I was craving a chicken teriyaki bowl, and I was so impressed. The bowl is a generous size and PACKED to the brim with rice and a heap of chicken. The teriyaki sauce is perfectly savory, and enough to get you through the whole bowl without needing extra. I personally would have preferred a few veggies in my bowl, but they offer tempura veggies as a side, so that's an easy fix! I also tried their gyoza, which was perfectly crispy, and the dipping sauce was next level delicious. The service was good, everyone was friendly. The restaurant was a bit warm, and the wait time was a bit long, but that's because they grill your food up fresh while you wait, and I appreciated that. If you're in a rush, definitely call ahead, but if you have time to sit and enjoy the quaint little spot with some delicious food, it's not a bad spot. read more

1st time visiting, walked in 715pm ordered and waited for yummy goodness! Rolls came fast, where made fresh and they where tasty.. We had a Dragon, Spicy Tuna, Crunchy Tuna, Rainbow Roll and a California for Ms Cadence! We also ordered a Teriyaki Bowl (bomb).. Everything was great! The Soy Sauce is regular Kikoman, a bit salty haha.. The Wasabi was creamy and had a nice texture BUT it wasn't Spicey/Hot.. All in all, was a good experience: the inside was very clean, menu ez to read, food tasty and staff friendly. There was a nice mixture of inexpensive $5.95 all the way up to $13 & $14 rolls. **MUST LOWER YOUR EXPECTATIONS BEFORE EATING HERE OR EVEN ORDERING TO GO** I started a new job in Reedley and decided to eat out for my first day on the job to explore the town. I wanted to keep it safe so I searched for Asian food nearby and stumbled across this place. It's really hard to f#ck up simple chicken over rice with sauce, right?? When I arrived around 11am on a Monday, 2/20/23, first thing I noticed was there was no one out front to greet me or acknowledge I was there,.. all you can here was really loud Hispanic music blasting from the kitchen and a lot of loud conversations from who I assumed to be the employees who work there. I waited at the front desk by the cashier and made eye contact with the waitress, I smiled and waited, she continued to ignore me and continue her conversation with all 3 people in the kitchen. There were no other customers in the restaurant and nobody on the phone. She finally came out and asked how she could help me; I ordered a spicy tuna roll for starters and then a simple teriyaki chicken bowl to follow, I had my own bottled water with me. She asked if I wanted it for here or to-go, I kindly replied I'd like to eat it here, she then asked, "Are you sure?," in which I replied, "Yes, ...it is OK to eat here right?" she just said, "OK anything else?" wow, alright, clear signs that I probably should have already walked out but I was already 12 minutes into my 30 minute lunch so I decided to just stick it out, worst case I can take my food to go. She went ahead and rung me up to which I though was weird because if you're eating there, you normally don't get asked for money until you've been given your food and "service." I can then pay for it after I'm able to enjoy my meal. Being a good citizen, I went ahead and paid them to save time. Being the only customer dining in and noticing how they were not busy at all, I figured my food would come out pretty quick, I was wrong again, 15 minutes went by and I didn't get the oh-so-easy to make spicy tuna roll I asked for. 25 minutes go by as I continue to periodically make eye contact with the workers giving them the, "where the f#ck is my food," look. While I waited, another customer came in mad to return an order because it was not the sushi roll she ordered. They didn't even acknowledge their mistake or apologize, she just said, "Oh, we'll make the right one, it'll be ready in 15 minutes." Another 5 minutes go by and i see my chicken bowl at the pickup window. The waitress resumed playing on her cell phone turned away from my food. I walked up to the front desk and asked nicely if my food was ready and she said it will be right up, in which I asked (pointing) if THAT was my food, she laughed and said, "oh, here you go." I kindly asked if the spicy tuna roll was ready and she looked confused as if I didn't order one to begin with, ... my jaw was about to drop at this point but I was hungry so I asked for it to be packaged up to-go when ready and I'll go ahead and eat the chicken bowl now. When she stuck her head in the window, i hear one of the cooks say, "he ordered a spicy tuna roll?" I'm not sure why they ask if you want it for here or to-go when all the food is in TO-GO containers anyway! That question would make more sense if the food was going to be prepared differently but if it's just a matter of putting it in a bag or not, you don't need to ask until it's ready. The chicken bowl is in a plastic bowl, it was just missing the lid, and of course when my spicy tuna roll showed up (which was the most ugly, loose, too much hot long-grain (not short-grain) un-marinated/seasoned rice - the rice was cooking the minced tuna inside the roll) she brought it out to me on a plastic serving tray even though I specifically asked for it to be packaged to go. I reminded her and without saying a word she left it at my table, came back with the lid for both the sushi and chicken bowl and just dropped it off. WTH is going on here? Is everyone hungover or drunk here? Do they treat all their customer like this? Is it because I look like a Japanese guy ordering Japanese food at this restaurant that they think it's OK to not give AF about the minimum practice of customer service? I will NEVER return and don't recommend this place to anyone who is even remotely used to the way any decent restaurant should operate - you will be so disappointed. Chicken was overcooked, teriyaki sauce has cornstarch chunks in it, don't even get me started on the sushi roll. I should have checked yelp before even considering ordering sushi here, you can clearly see in the pictures it's gas station grade at best - and who wants gas station sushi, let alone gas-station level customer service and hospitality... read more

This place is great. Food is delicious and you get a good amount, especially for the price. They answer the phones and are very friendly. Good is ready when it should be. Very clean eating area. Highly recommended for a lunch spot or casual dinner read more

I have frequented this place at least once a week for the past couple months because the food is good. Today I experienced being treated less than the other customers. Routinely when you order your food to sit and eat your server will bring your food to the table. Today she had me get up and get my food while she served everyone else at their table. I felt like I was treated poorly as a customer as no one else eating there was of my race. It is very troublesome that this would happen in this place because they are also minority owned. I ordered the sesame chicken combination plate and I'm really not sure if I was served chicken or fried rubber. As I stood at the counter to order at 7:50, a guy in the kitchen instructed the girl at the register to close in 10 min. The hours on the door read they were open until 8:30, and she had just told someone over the phone that they closed at 8:30. Monday night, I drove by before 8 and their sign was turned to close. So...what are their hours? As I waited for our food, I observed the girl at the counter receive a phone call from obviously someone who received an incomplete order. She went back to the kitchen then back upfront, and told the unsatisfied customer that the person who prepared their food forgot and to come in next time and tell them you were given a free bowl...as a guy from the kitchen yelled "tell them we ran out" I will not go back. read more

Went in for lunch. My wife had the chicken teriyaki bowl and I had the beef teriyaki bowl. Both were great! Customer service was good. I'm glad we beat the lunch rush, customers seemed to be waiting quite a while for their orders. The cook in the back seemed frustrated as if he didn't want to be there. He was easily irritated with the cashier at the front counter. Also, the lid to the freshly brewed tea was not placed back on top, this is a sanitation issue. This was our first time here. We tried the crunchy California rolls and the sesame chicken combo. Both were pretty good. The chicken was cooked well and crunchy, not soggy as some other reviews stated. However, both dishes were not seasoned well and left something to be desired. For the price, Sansei is much preferred. I ordered a salmon bowl and was very pleased with the portions and flavor of the teriyaki sauce on it. It was cooked well. This restaurant is open on Mondays unlike most of the other Asian restaurants in Reedley. The prices are very reasonable here. Ordered a poki bowl and was confused that it didn't include seaweed so I had to pay an extra fee for that as well as tempura flakes. If it wasn't for that all they would've served me was rice and tuna. The thing that ruined the whole bowl for me was that they added the WASABI directly on top of my bowl!?!? Who does that. i havent had sushi for a while, so I felt like I had to give this place a try while driving through. it was not terrible quality but the proportions of the roll was really off. it was like 90% rice and 10% other fillings. For a quick get in and get out sushi, this is a great place in Reedley. The price dictates the value you get, for the same price of a burger from any fast food joint, you get a far better meal. I go here at least 3 times a week for lunch and have ordered a good variety of the menu. I always feel the food is always worth the price, whether if its a little off one day or not. This is not a sit down restaurant, if your expecting restaurant quality then Sensei is where you want to go. Just expect to pay $3-$4 more depending on entree. The rolls are also a little more as well. If your on your 30min lunch and want a good dish to go asap, I highly recommend this place. I will start by saying we are in Reedley. Reedley simply refuses to bring in commercial business to protect the little guys. Well this is what we get, Yoi. I am a huge fan of sushi and my wife and I eat sushi sometimes two - three times a week. We live in Fresno so we eat at the likes of Edo-Ya, Sakura Chaya and Maroo. Each has their own flair and style but all-in-all great sushi and expected prices. Places like Wasabi are great too however a little more expensive then I would expect for sushi. To the owners of Yoi, I highly recommend that you visit any of the restaurants I mentioned above. As a sushi connoisseur Yoi rolls have way too much rice around the meat and far too little meat. The rolls are too large to fit in your mouth. My preference is to be able to fit one whole piece in my mouth so that I get a well rounded taste that the roll captures. Because of the way the rolls are constructed you have to eat your way through a chunk of rice to have one bit of meat then two more bites of rice and seaweed. The two rolls I had were deep fried and I am not a big fan of that, but ok. I would have liked to have some ginger too but there was only one little slice the size of my pinkie finger. Personally they are going to have to step it up even to compete with Sensei in Reedley. I will not return for sushi but I will return for one of the other dishes. I will update my review next time I am in there. I hope this review acts as constructive criticism for improvment. I hope that they do well but I really feel there is something lacking.
